My son and I ventured to the museum for their birthday party event. They stayed open late so we were able to stop by after I got home from work on a Friday night. My 4 year old loved dressing up like different characters and playing with the trains. We are members and really enjoyed the special late hours.

We love going to the Children's Museum. My son and daughter both have so much fun just going there during open hours to play, and they both really enjoy the playgroups and classes there. Highly recommended.

The Children's Museum is a great untapped resource for developmental play right here in our own town. It offers a venue of multiple play experiences for guided play. Parents can get involved in joint play activities with the setup at the museum to develop creativity and imaginary play skills in their child. As a developmental therapist and retired teacher I am really impressed with the learning opportunities that are provided at the museum. It's a place for parents to INTERACT with their child. Playgroups are offered and give children the opportunity to learn important social skills of sharing, listening, following directions, problem solving, and turn taking. It has been an awesome experience for my granddaughter who has been going since she was two. Get involved with your kids and turn off the television and video games. Great place to do it!!

My daughter has attended the playgroup and has loved every minute of it. They include a story and craft every week and open play. They have a lot of great centers to play in- kitchen, grocery store, doctors office, post office, police and fire department, library, etc. Great for creative play! We also love going on cold or rainy days. It is a great place to take children of various ages. The staff is always so friendly and a very clean environment.

Bad experience - expensive summer classes with unprepared teachers. DON'T waste your time. ZERO refund policy and impatient staff. I drove far away to come to their classes and was left so upset.

The Childrens Museum offers a variety of hands on activies for the children. The Children learn while they play, a great alternative to going to the Magic house. Prices are reasonable.

If you live in the area, the Edwardsville Children's Museum has the advantages of being convenient, reasonably priced, and uncrowded. It's a real stretch, however, to compare it to the Magic House. The Museum is just getting started, and thus offers a small range of activites for a small range of ages. It seems most appropriate for the pre-school set. The Museum does offer summer day camps in wide range of disciplines--everything from science to art to cooking--for a wider range of ages. They also offer birthday party packages for a less hectic, less commercial alternative to the usual sites.

I've taken my son (age 2) to the Children's Museum twice, and so far I haven't been too impressed. There are different "stations" for the children to see - a puppet theater, doctors office, legos, TV station, etc. I guess he's still too young right now, and may enjoy it when he is older. I guess I was just expecting more bang for my buck. If I'm going to pay that much, I'd rather go over to St. Louis to something a bit bigger. Maybe the more "exhibits" they get, the better it will be.

Affordable, safe, and fun - all the makings for a nice Saturday afternoon right here in Edwardsville. The kids always have a great time, the price is right, and they are almost never crowded.
