My experience with Avanti Staffing was excellent from start to finish!

After searching for a job for 10+ months, I received a call from Avanti (they'd gotten my resume from CareerBuilder) and went in for their aptitude testing. Don't be misled by the negative experiences of other posters; they only test you on the applications you state you're familiar with, and the vocabulary/sentence test is a snap for anyone with a decent grasp of grammar. My coordinator, Ray Pempek, was an absolute delight; from the outset, it was clear that his primary goal was placing me in the best job possible. A mere 2 weeks after I completed the intital testing, they'd already sent my resume to 3 different companies, and a successful interview at one shortly followed. To top things off, Ray continued to check up on my progress for 2 months after I got the job, just to make sure things were going well.

Overall, a great staffing agency with friendly, professional people; make sure you ask for Ray!

I heard from co-workers they are a poor agency. They call you down to their office, they talk about a position to you, after all their crazy testing. They never call you back, they tell you the position is still pending,or they don't know anything? I honestly feel they only call people with excellent test results. But of course on the other hand, they tell you your test results are not important at all.So why test? They are so full of it. My opinion, "Don't waste your time and effort with agency? You are wasting your time.

I have 20+ years of experience in the secretarial/administrative field. I was let go (due to downsizing) and decided to meet with the people at the agency after reading some of the positive reviews. After filling out the paperwork and taking the tests required, I was told on that same day that there was a possibility of a position for me to interview for. After two days, I did not hear from them and inquired about this position. I was informed it was filled. In the meantime, I was told to check back with the agency on a weekly basis to see if anything came up - which I did. As weeks progressed, I noticed that they had job openings for which I knew I was qualified for. I was never notified. In turn, I inquired about these jobs and did not hear back from the agency. In the meantime, I have went on several interviews on my own through employer-based postings - not through agencies. This is the drawback with some of the agencies. They hold the purse strings. They decide whether they want the potential candidate to interview for the job. I'm still looking for a job (since February). However, like I mentioned previously, I've had more success on my own than with this agency that only gives you the same song and dance everytime you e-mail them asking about any new positions.

I was referred to Avantil by a former client who has since changed her mind on Avanti. Met with Felice. Did my testing. Went on (1) interview. Follow up is not a strong suit for them. I traveled over 200 miles on a couple of occasions with hopes of placement somewhere. It's been almost a year and nothing. Revised summary on resume otherwise it was fine. Only minor changes made. Very disappointed.

Pros: Hmmm, let me ponder this for awhile.

Cons: Michigan Avenue, no parking. Waiting game: jobs and in office

I went to Avanti staffing for help finding a job. At first, I thought that it would be a positive experience after reading the above review, but sadly it was anything but.I as well was placed with Felice, whom I found to be very abrasive and pushy. For example,I have a degree from a very good school, lots of work experience, both in an office, and outside of one,and advanced skills on a computer. From that Felice told me that I would be able to MAYBE find a job paying 22-25,000 a year.I also took a spelling test.this spelling test had words that I was familiar with but some of them were just outright foreign. Not to mention when i said some of the words I would not have gotten wrong if I had been using a computer with spell check she said that maybe I should start carrying a mini dictionary around with me.IIs it just me, or does that just not make any sense?when is a boss or someone you work with going to go,here, edit this by hand, and then write the whole thing over with a quill pen?Moving on,about a month into my relationship with Avanti Staffing,Felice called me with a possible job that she would like me to interview for.It was a position that i was not really interested in,but I thought that I would seeI did,and it ended up that they offered me a job,but Felice said that I had to tell her on the spot if i wanted it or not.I was not able to think for an hour, let alone the weekend. This was a huge turn off for me since she seemed more sales driven than interested in my needs and feelings. After that,I did not hear from her again, except one time when she specifically called me to tell me that there was a position open for an assistant that writes power point presentations, but it would be over my head. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?WHY EVEN CALL? and to answer that, i guess going to college and making hundreds of power point presentations does not qualify me for that youre right
BOTTOM LINE DONT GO THERE!

Pros: have temp positions, staff friendly when not talking about jobs

Cons: bad staffing agency, and since that is what they call themselves, i guess they are unsuccessful

I registered with Avanti Staffing and let me tell you about my experience. First of all, the staff is very friendly and very professional. Felice, my counselor even revised my resume for me so that it would be more marketable. She was thorough which meant I will be match with just the right company. I was fully tested and they were honest with me about my scores and my chances at what kind of assignment I would receive. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the great coffee I drank, too. The bottom line is that if you are looking for a great staffing agency to join, Avanti Staffing is it.
