The wait time for an alley was not bad, however the facility is run poorly. Balls, lanes, etc were filthy. Kids were allowed to run around without parental supervision. The website lists the laser light show would begin at 9pm, clearly the staff on hand decided to begin dispursing the fog chemical 1 hour prior - burned the hell out of my eyes. When I asked what the chemical make up was that they were pumping into the air, I was told by one that it was just dry ice! When I asked for the owner, I was told by a desk clerk that he was not allowed to give me that information. I mentioned that whether I contacted the owner that night or the next day, I would find out. The clerk told me he would find out what was in the fog mixture and that I should stop back at the desk in a while. I went back to my lane and finished bowling with my family. After spending well over $240.00 on food, drinks and bowling, I went back up to the clerk to ask him about the chemical in the fog, and he only would answer me that it was "water soluble". That really answered my question! I asked again about the owner's contact name and number, I was told I had to call back to the bowling alley on Monday morning for that information! Not recommending this venue any time soon to family and friends!!!

Diversey Bowl is a nice place to bowl, cool neon lights. The staff working the desk is trying the best. Good food and different variety of music styles is played here, with volume set so you can talk to your friends. ,

Came into town to visit with family and friends... Had a great time here! They had "Comedy Nite" that evening... pretty funny! The drinks were reasonably priced and strong... I would recommend this place for group fun (especially for people 21 and over on weekends). The food selection was excellent... they had an appetizer called "Dragon Bites" WOW!!! LOVED EM! We will be back for sure, and we'll be sure to bring others!!!

It's the best invention ever. They combine the best elements of going out -- drinking, good music, cool people, and BOWLING! I've even seen a DJ from Q101 there on the weekends too!

The most unique thing on the bar menu? JELLO SHOTS! In multiple flavors no less, and for just $2 a pop. The food here is far above bar food quality, and they offer lots of healthy options. The grass fed Angus burger is a fave of mine.

Overall, the place draws a really fun crowd. A little more family-oriented on the weekends, but that doesn't mean the music gets any softer. Punks, hipsters, frat boys - you'll see all types here, bowling in harmony. There are a lot of leagues during the week, so call ahead to check. But there are never leagues on the weekends when it's all open bowling.

I'm not sure what "Bellshell" was writing about below - they were probably too drunk to know what business they stumbled into. Or they did something really stupid that got them kicked out, like any quality establishment would do in order to preserve order. I've been coming to the Rock 'n Bowl for years, and have never seen anything even remotely close to what he is talking about.

Diversey Bowl has to be one of the worst bowling alleys in all of Chicago land. Most of staff thinks that they are all high-and-mighty; I have met some of them that are nice and polite. The owners are the worst. I only been there a few times, but each time, it never fails that the owners are yelling at a customer for no reason. One time by mistake a bunch of us went in, during a league night (not knowing) and got yelled at for it, since they had no lanes opened, and how stupid we were for showing up. I even talked to people (at the bar) that have bowled there for years, and they complain about the management. Never have been to a place that was poorly ran like Diversey Bowl.

Pros: Some of the staff in nice

Cons: You either will see or get yelled at by management

Let me tell you this... it does not have Ten Pin Lounge decor, but who gives a sh*t. You are putting on clown shoes and looking to blast some pins. The staff was accomodating and the drinks were strong. We ordered up some greasy appetizers and played a few games and it was $20 a person for a night out to bowl. Drinks are priced moderately and we drank a ton of em. Good time... relaxed place and I was serving up Turkeys all night.

Truly a miserable place. I have had more fun, and been subjected to less hassle, when renewing my driver's license. Unfortunately, the bad attitude of the management and staff is not the only problem. The lanes break down repeatedly, they charge you nearly $30 per hour while you wait for them to fix the problems! (No, you will not even receive an apology for the inconvenience much less a credit for the time.) There a number of great bowling alleys in Chicago. If you want to have a good time, skip the hassle at Diversey Rock N Bowl and have a good time elsewhere.

This bowling alley is usually pretty packed and smokey. I brought my kids bowling here and we didn't have a very good time. We had to wait for a lane, and it was just not a great atmosphere for children.

Diversey Bowl is a nice bowling alley to go to. I have been there many times and have been satisfied with the place. It has the computerized scoring system which i like. One thiing i did not like about this bowling alley is that it does get a bit busy on the weekends and a little smoky.

This is a great place to join a bowling league, or just to have a fun night out with some friends. If you have children you can plan birthday parties here. There is actually some parking available, and this place can hold a lot of bowlers. Come here if you are tired of most nights being Blockbuster nights.

Diversy Bowl is by far the best in the city. All the people are great and the atmoshpere is as good as a bowling alley can get.

The ONLY game in town on the near-North side! All the others (ok, Waveland) are too packed-out and expensive. The music could be a little more diverse, though--as in, urban.

lanes were so oily i fell right on my a#$! nonetheless, diversey does rock...good greasy grub, cheesy 80's music, having your picture come up on the monitor when it's your turn, friendly staff..and that obnoxious sign out front..you might think you're in vegas! can get a bit expensive for a saturday afternoon if you spend them there like i do swillin and throwin a few games, but that's chicago for ya..

We were in our fourth frame of the first game, when suddenly the lights went out and the bowling pins began to glow with a light blue haze. Dance lights came on and scanned across the lanes. Welcome to rock and bowl. This place has a full bar with various taps and plenty of room for sitting after you play. The lanes are very sleek, with stools, rather than the typical plastic seats. The display screen is high-tech and has cool stats, like the speed of your last roll. Before you get a lane, you have to put a coin in a machine and put your names in and indicate whether or not you need shoes. Lanes are paid by the hour ($20), not the game. It's a slightly steep price, but well worth it for the quality of the lanes.
