Food is alway exceptional! You must try the cornbread."Awesome"
Service is Superb! Everything is great from steaks, fish or burgers,
you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. A must see &
experience for out-of-towners as well as locals. And the prices
aren't bad either. Great bang for your buck!!!
We recently ordered from this location while on a trip to chicago. All I can say is DO NOT order their delivery service. Took about an hour and a half to get our food at the hotel , we ordered burgers cooked med. well and got rare. ordered no toasted bun got no bun at all! The food cost about $50 and was not worth 10 cents.
Unfortunately, my couple dinning experiences at Weber Grill haven't been as good as I know that they could be. Our food came out only lukewarm like it had been sitting waiting to be served for awhile, and that didn't happen only once. I was a little disappointed in the service and quality. However, knowing what Weber is capable of, I would go back again to try to see if they can prove me wrong.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole country. My husband and I are big fans of weber grills so it's neat going to a place where they cook on them. Thats right everything is made on real weber grills. The shrimp is to die for. But everything here is amazing.
If you are looking for excellent service and fine dining, along with
great selection of your steak, prime rib, chicken and shrimp dinners.
leave your Denim at home. Take your spouse here to dine. Dining is available outdoors if the weather permits. The prices are good and you will have a wonderful dining experience. The food is great.
What a Concept. Actual Weber Grills Inside the Restaurant. Friendly staff, they know their menu, which is Great if you like Bar B Que. The only bad thing about this place, it's 2000 + miles from my home. Fun for the whole family, great tasting food and the price is all worth the experience,
Took almost an hour to receive food after it was ordered, many of the meals were cold, dry and overcooked.
Cons: Food prep and service
A fine family restaurant with a huge list of food. Its better to make reservations first because its quite popular. One of friend suggested me Weber Grill Restaurant and now I am suggesting to all. In my opinion, this is the best restaurant. Service was amazing, very fast and food was also very tasty.
I absolutely love Weber Grill. I have been there at least three times this past year. The wait staff is always pleasant and receptive to your needs. They bring out your food and drinks quickly.
Every time I have been at Weber Grill, I order the onion curls as an appetizer. The dipping sauce as well as the onion curls are a delicious combination, especially the spicy mayo. For the entree, I always order the beef brisket, it reminds me of my uncle's home-made brisket, and he is an amazing cook. They put just enough bbq sauce on the meal. As a side, my boyfriend and I always split the garlic mashed potatoes. Everything is always delicious and I sometimes get cravings for the food.
Just writing this review is making me hungry for Weber Grill.
Pros: Best Brisket, Best Onion Curls, Best Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Good meatloaf, ribs, burgers, fish. Vegetables too salty, and don't bother with the breakfast.
Pros: Good Grilled food
Cons: breakfast buffet was awful!
I went with a group of four to celebrate a special occasion. Our service was absolutely flawless. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were great. I have heard that this place was full of tourists and not to go there. I disagree. The food was reasonably priced. The atmosphere was crowded but enjoyable. I would recommend this to all local Chicagoans. It is great!
I took my daughter here last night for her birthday dinner. (The one in Lombard) after going to 2 other places and not wanting to wait 45 minutes for a table we navigated to the Weber Grill. The hostess told us the wait was 20-25 minutes but we waited much longer...okay, that happens. We had the artichoke and spinach dip, it was very good. We both had Filet Mignon, we asked for medium. One was medium well and one was well done. Very dry and flavorless so I took the server up on his offer and sent it back for a new one. By the time I got it my daughter was wrapping up the rest of hers so I had a few bites and brought the rest home. I was completely disappointed with the steak. Flavorless and I don't believe it was of a $30.00 quality. I'd expect a dry aged for that price. I make a better steak at home! I originally wanted to go to JAlexanders but my daughter didn't want to wait. It's a pity we didn't. The steaks there are of superb quality and the wood fire gives it an awesome taste. The price is the same but the food is so much better. I don't know why anybody would waste their time and precious money at the Weber Grill. I will not be a regular customer of the place. They need some fine tuning. The best part of my visit was my server. He was excellent. Two thumbs down!!
i just now came from there and got a screwing on my meal. they didnt have the ribeye on the menu, said that had quit serving it. i was getting ready to order the new york strip which is always a little more expensive than a ribeye and the waitress told us that they did have the ribeye. i thought that was great!! my steak come and it was alright, not as good as last time i had eaten there, alot of fat on it but i didnt complain. then they brought my bill and the steak was 37.00, thought it was a mistake and asked the waitress and she said it was so expensive because it was there specialty!! the new york strip was 25.00 so i guess the ribeye was special because it was so dang expensive!! i wont be back for my next chicago trip!!!!
You want an awesome steak? This is the place. I was just there with my fiancee and some relatives and friends and we had a great time. The steak was to delicious. I got the skirt steak. My fiancee got the pulled pork and that was really good too. They did mess up on my friends order giving her something different but they were very apologetic and fixed the problem quickly. Other than that it was a great dining experience.
Pros: Great food
I have been numerous times to Weber Grill, not only at the State St location, but in the burbs. The food is consistently excellent(I would highly recommend the chili and the beercan chicken) to anyone. The place does get busy, but the staff gets you seated quickly. Definitely make this a next place to eat!!
Pros: Very good service and excellent barbecue
Our server was fantastic, but the food was terrible. I got the filet medium to medium rare, which was good, but I could literally taste the burn of the grill marks on my steak. It's a shame...seemed like such a quality piece of meat, but then you burn it and completely ruin the flavor. There have got to be better steak places in Chicago.
It was actually my second time there, so shame on me. I remember not being all that impressed the first time either.
I visited the Weber Grill the week of NeoCon, which was probably the reason why it was so crowded... the servers could not get through the crowd by the door and in the bar. I was dining alone, and while the wait was only 30-40 minutes (which surprised me) I was able to find a table in the bar instead. The server was very competent, friendly, and fast despite the crowd. However the food wasn't that great. The garlic mashed potatoes were probably the best I've ever had, but the teriyaki salmon was absolutely drowned in sauce. The only reason I knew I was eating fish was the flakiness of the meat. I couldn't taste anything beyond the teriyaki. The key lime cheesecake is served not in slices, but in SLABS, and it isn't really very good. I might still visit here again to try something else on the menu.
Pros: Service, selection of beer, location in Hilton Garden Inn
Cons: Over-seasoned food
We had lunch service for 12 on Sunday and it was the worst service and food that I've ever experienced. Here's an overview:
11:30 AM - Group seated, appetizer and drink orders taken by waiter.
11:50 AM - Drinks served, when asked about placing the entree order, we were told that he was not our waiter.
12:00 PM - A diner from our party sought out a waiter to take our entree order.
12:10 PM - Entree order taken and appetizers served, more drinks were requested.
12:30 PM - We asked for a manager, we told her of the problems, she said she'd look into it. She came back and told us that the waiter that took our food order was now assigned to our table.
12:50 PM - Entrees were still not served, I sought out the same manager and asked about the food order, she told me that we were the "next ticket out."
1:00 PM - I sought out the manager again and asked to speak to her manager. Her manager told us that the host station sat us in a section that did not have waiters and that's why we had the service issues.
1:15 PM - When the waiter brought the check, i noticed that we were being charged a 18% gratuity due to our party size. Since we received such poor service, I asked the waiter to take the forced gratuity off of the bill. He argued with me and said "It's not my fault, it was the host station." I told him that I wanted to see the manager again.
1:20 PM - When the waiter did not return, I went to the host station to find our check and saw the waiter and the manager arguing over the bill. When we got the bill, the manager said she would offer us gift cards, but she knew that we could take that as an insult and assumed we were not planning on coming back to the restaurant.
With regards to the food, the hamburgers were not properly cooked (one was requested as well and came out as medium, it needed to be sent back) and did not have any grilled flavor. Also, the New York Strip salad basically tasted like cold roast beef on a bed of lettuce.
Cons: Service was terrible
I went on a week night with a friend, and was seated quickly with prompt service. Both of us ordered the baby back ribs, and both thought they were over cooked. The meat was dry what you got if it because the slab was small with little meat on it. The rest was tough and chewy overcooked. The sides of cornbread and baked beans were very good. It was not so terrible that I would not go gain, but maybe I'll order an over seasoned steak next time.
Pros: Quick service
Cons: Dry food
I would reccommend going to the Weber Grill, if you want a relaxing place to eat and have good food. The service was great right from the very start. Our waiter had to leave as his shift was ending, but he saw our food come up and brought it to our table all while he had his coat on ready to go. He wanted to make sure we were taken care of, which was a really nice gesture. He was friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was amazing, I had the sampler which was a great choice asit gave me a little bit of everything. There was shrimp, beer can chicken strips, steak skewers, ribs and onion curls. It was fun to eat and it tasted great. Also before our meal they brought out amazing preztel like rolls that I have never seen anywhere else. So, if you love bread you have to try those as well. So, if you are ever in the area, this place is a must to try!
Pros: A good variety of food, fun place, good service
Cons: we went on a Sunday and they were out of a lot of there meat choice, so going early in the weekend is probably a safer bet
My experience at Weber Grill was fantasitc and unforgettable;from the food to the extremely helpful and friendly staff. I had heard a lot of good feedback from my friends and I wanted to see what all the hoot was about. I walked in and was instantly greeted with a smile and a very genuine hello (not like the forced greetings I've experienced elsewhere). While my husband and I waited to be seated we grabbed a drink at the bar and Mike took care of us. It was like him and my husband had known eachother for years;he was that friendly and sociable (very refreshing) We were seated 7 minutes before our estimated wait time (20-30 mn). Even the host, a very nice gentlemen, actually asked how I was doin, a very small but never forgotten gesture. The atmosphere was cozy and we were seated near one of their fireplaces. I was told by our server that there are two cozy firelplaces in the restaurant (so if you want to sit by one of those either sit waaay toward the back of the restaurant, or sit in the "grill room", which is to your right when you walk in. My server was amazing and very knowledgable about the food, I never got a "ummm, let me check Im not sure" about the menu. Everything was thorough. The food was delicious. My husband and I had the Weber Sampler to start, he had the blackened-boneless rib eye and i had the meatlof. You might ask why meatloaf, but it was highly recommended and I had to try it.Its unlike any meatloaf Ive ever had. You can really taste the grill flavor and the barbeque bourban baked beans that come with it are to die for. Chocolate Bundt cake was our dessert and it tasted like heaven. Overall, the experience was wonderful. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Its not uptight but its certainly not your run of the mill burger joint. I saw a lot of families diniing there so if anyone is worried about finding a place DOWN TOWN where the whole family can come, you might want to consider Weber Grill. EVERYONE should dine at Weber Grill!
i went here based on a foodie friend's recommendation and was told there would be excellent meat to be had.
so, i braved the whipping winds of and snow flurries falling on chicago on this cold winter day.
the service was friendly and prompt. good sign. didn't like the smoking inside but this should not be an issue come january 1, 2008 when the state's ban on smoking inside restaurants and bars takes effect.
i had a combo meal: pulled pork over white bread and baby back ribs. the combo also came with cornbread, beans and slaw. i paired it with the woop woop shiraz.
the baby back ribs was very good. i enjoyed the smokey goodness and it was very lean and meaty. it did not fall off the bone but it was pretty damn yummy. the bbq sauce also had a nice tanginess.
the pulled pork, on the other hand, was disappointing. i guess i expected more -- it wasn't warm enough, and it also was not so tender.
the beans - i am really not a fan of beans but this was good. apparently, it's got jim beam bourbon.
the coleslaw -- this was more pickled tasting. i am glad it was not drenched in mayo, like most slaws.
i enjoyed the cornbread. it was moist, sweet and came in a generous portion. i was very happy with the cornbread.
the shiraz went well with the meat.
overall, this place is good. it could have been loads better but for the pulled pork. i expected to be blown away. oh well.
These people work very hard and tip out large amounts of their own earnings to the food runners, bussers and bartenders. When you don't tip the server, they have to pay for you to eat there because they still have to pay staff regardless if you tip them or not.
The Weber Grill is a different kind of place to eat. large kettle Weber Grills are used to cook the food. The food is fantastic, the bartender is very fast and always seems to see when you are ready for another round.
Seating inside takes longer to get than the outside patio, which I don't understand, the outside has a nicer appeal to it.
The Pork Chops are excellent and the Ribeye steaks are so flavorful, my mouth is watering now thinking of it.
I will go back for sure !
Cons: Long wait, go early..
I fell in love with their beer can chicken, that is the only thing I get there now. It's so moist and flavorful it's insane!
Where else in Chicago can you see live actual grilling being done indoors? This place has that warm atmosphere feeling all over the place, almost too warm if you ask me (and I'm not just talking about the massive grill kettles either). But enough about the place itself, let's talk about the food. They have a variety of classic barbeque classics from burgers, beer can chicken, ribs, and of course the steaks. Although the food is good, it does tend to be rather dry, no matter what you order or how done you have it cooked. Heck, you can order it raw and still have a peice of meat rather dry. Plus, they rarely change their menu items which is a bit of a letdown, especially if you've had everyhing on the menu. Bottom line, sure go ahead and try it at least once. But, if you can, try to find a better barbeque restaurant.
Pros: Good food, Right off the Grand Red Line stop, Tourist Stop, Cheaper than other Steakhouses in North Loop
Cons: Dry food, Valet, Lack of variety, You walk out smelling like barbeque smoke, side salads are small portioned
If you're looking for great grilled food in a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere, this is the place. The BBQ ribs and chicken are delicious, and wait until you taste the desserts!
Pros: Food and atmosphere
Cons: could get crowded fast
This Weber Grill is a dump compared to the one in the burbs. Eating at this location is like going to Portillos, which is cool if I want a hot-dog. When I want a good steak or prime rib I want better service, and a cleaner, more enjoyable atmosphere. This place might work for lunch, but for a steak dinner visit Lowry's, Kinzie, or other.
Yet another chicago favorite that I just don't understand. The food is simply average and it is certainly not the barbeque flavor I am accustomed to. Most men like the spot because anything done over an open falme is a winner in their book, (even if it was fresh from under a tire). I had the beef brisket and BBQ chicken combo. The brisket was very tender but the sauce is still not quite what I'm looking for. The chicken was the problem. I'm quite sure I could have overlooked it on the menu, but, the chicken that comes with the entree is a "pinwheel", hence, dark meat. I strongly dislike dark meat. To change to white meat is a $5 upcharge which to me was ridiculous especially since the chicken tastes like it was cooked some other way and then put on the grill at the last moment. My hope in finding a new favorite restaurant is dwindling fast.
Pros: The waiter was very nice
Cons: The food was blah
The 4 of us went to Weber Grill for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. You don't leave hungry from Weber's. The burger was thick hot and juicy, BBQ chicken was excellent, tender and grilled perfectly. The beef brisket and ribs were also grilled to perfection. 1 out of 4 of us liked the cole slaw that came with the meal and the cornbread was a bit overbaked and dry. Otherwise the atmosphere and service was excellent and we had a great view of the kitchen/food prep area. It was a bit warm by the kitchen but it is to be expected. I would highly recommend a visit next time to the windy city.
Pros: BBQ Perfection, Right Price for Lunch
Cons: Cornbread, Cole Slaw
Been going for a few years now and have tried most items on the menu. One of the best Rib-eye steaks I have ever had, great 10 oz. burger, great salads-especially the chopped. I love the beer can chicken and even the pork chops are good. Friendly service. Restaurant continues to get better with each vist.
Pros: Good atmosphere, Lively crowd, Bar with TV
Cons: Hot near grills
I had read the reviews on here before I went and actually didn't go here the first trip to Chicago because of some of the reviews. Put it this way, I was wrong the first time and the 9.1 rating is correct. Are there going to be bad times, sure, hence it is not a 10, but as far as downtown eating goes, 9.1 is really good.
I wanted to try a little of everything, but found out the menu is huge, which is really great. I had the bbq combo of three and the meal was tremendous. Huge portions and cooked really good. Nothing I hate more than reheated ribs (Outback has done it to me more than once) but there was nothing reheated here, just really good barbeque. No disappointments on food, quality, portion size or atmosphere.
Price is real good, especially considering where you are.
Pros: Menu, Price, Quality
This restaurant did not stick out in my mind as abnormally good or bad. Arrived at around 8:30 with a reservation, was seated within 5 mins of notification. Service was friendly and attentive, but for some reason a busboy was trying to punish my chair all night by bumping up into it.
Ordered the NY Strip (16oz) and it was excellent; how I expect it to be for $32. I recommend the Weber Brew Ale, it was downed enjoyably.
The desserts looked wonderful. You might do well to save room for them.
Pros: Steak, Atmosphere, Service
Char-grill flavor, tender inside, what more could a burger lover ask for? These are the best burgers anywhere, in my opinion. Unless you have a big appetite, you might want to share one of these - they are huge! Excellent, and the service tops.
For the price you pay, the food at the Weber Grill was not very appetizing. To me, you could have dine at a local mom and pop restaurant and get your moneys worth. Just because an establishment opens its doors in a certain location does not make it five star restaurant. Don't believe the hype
While the atmosphere and location of this restaurant are sophisticated, the food and drink were disappointing. Their red wine sangria was sour and bitter rather than sweet and juicy. My hamburger was dry and served with a limp piece of lettuce (I've had better grilled hamburgers at Burger King). All the food with the exception of the appetizer was served a room temperature. All and all, we were left wondering what happened to that hot off the grill meat?
To add insult to injury, the dining room was incredibly crowded and the temperature was uncomfortably hot. Overall, we were very disappointed.
Pros: Location, Atmosphere
Cons: Mediocre Food, Crowded, Uncomfortable Temp
One of the best meals we had in our trip to the windy city. I had the BBQ sampler and liked everything. Portion size was large and the food was top quality. My wife had the ribs and she said they are the best she has ever eaten. We will return on our next trip.
Pros: good food, service, decore
We had a party of 6 at 6 pm last Friday evening and were seated at 6:03.
The food was wonderful. I had the beer can chicken. It was a massive 1/2 chicken grilled in the newest fad style. It was tender and juicy and came on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes.
Others had the filet, a cheeseburger and the pulled pork sandwich. All was enjoyed.
Reservations are suggested.
Pros: large portions
The Weber Grill restaurant definitely lived up to my expectations. I highly recommend ordering the baked potato with their special cheese/beer sauce, it was to die for. The steaks were great and so were their veggies. There was no wait, we were immediately seated (at 4pm). Our waitress was very accomadating and made sure everything was perfect for our dinner. We also ordered the key lime cheesecake for dessert. Very good, but also very rich. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to adults, but you can also bring your kids if needed. A great place to eat!!
Subpar, gravely disappointing, unremarkable, are all efficient ways to describe my much anticipated experience at Weber Grill. After reading a plethora of positive reviews for this place baring the name that governs the world of barbecue, I was extremely disappointed in what this River North hot-spot had to offer. The spinach & artichoke dip was decidedly more tasty only with the help of a nice splash of salt and pepper. After sending back their first try at "rare", my second burger, though cooked properly and moderately juicy, was overshadowed by the oversized bun in which it sat. Additionally, the pulled-pork sandwich was dry on its own, accompanied by an inadequate amount of Carolina BBW sauce on the side. Ultimately, dollar for dollar, there are far better burgers in the city, though by the looks of the mob of people waiting to get a table, nobody seems to know that yet.
My Husband and I went to weber grill on Nov 6 2004 at about 6:30pm . We had no wait , no reservations. The service was great and the food oh my god , it was to die for. I would reccomand the skirt steak , it was so tender and it melted in your mouth, And my husband got the grilled tuna and that was great , I rate the weber grill at a 20
There was an abundance of staff walking around but the food took a very long time to arrive. The brisket was total fat. I returned it and the manager came over to let me know he didn't feel "comfortable serving it to me". I sent it back.
Order carefully, they add lots of extras which you may not expect on a typical sandwich. Portions big and tasty but the service made the dining experience unpleasant. Then they forgot to remove the brisket from the bill.
Pros: tasty, spacious, big portions
Cons: , poor service, no quality control
I live in Chicago and went because of the claim that this was the best burger in town. Boy was I disappointed. The Hamburger was simply awful. Overcooked tasteless and greasy and very expensive. This place is packed with conventioneers very few locals as far as I could see. Go once and I am sure you won't go back.
Pros: Good service, Clean
Cons: , No Parking, expensive
I was skeptical because I thought it would be a mediocre chain-restaurant experience.
I had barbecued baby back ribs--they were absolutely delicious. They're slow cooked, crunchy on the outside and deliciously pink and tender on the inside. Outside had enough sauce for flavor, but was not drowned. I liked having sauce on the side so I could control how much I got.
The coleslaw was great, but it was served in a shot glass and could be eaten in two bites.
The service was fantastic. First thing we received was our own carafe of water...every time that thing hit the table empty BAM! it was taken away and refilled...and this was on a busy Saturday night.
We were seated across from the grills, which is interesting, but noisy.
I really recommend it.
Pros: Excellent Food, Great service, Nice atmosphere
Cons: , Noisy, Can be a wait
I've been to Weber Grill about 15 times, and I have never had a bad steak yet. The service is excellent, the drinks and food are amazing, and the prices are very reasonable compared to other Chicago steakhouses. These people know how to work a grill!!!
Pros: Delicious, Inexpensive, Good service
Cons: , Bad bar seating
Well, The food is a bit high for the quality, but tasty. The service is what will keep me in my back yard with weber. servers bickering at each other, We felt as if we were bothering our waiter for another overpriced drink. we settled for wrong temps. on our steaks, well we had to since the server was busy elsewhere. when finally I recieved my overpriced drink(end of meal)without apology or explaination. All in all my only Question would be why leave your Backyard.......
Cons: , Service, service
