"Home of the Low Ball special!" I've done a lot of business at a lot of dealers in the area over the years, but this place seems to like giving you the bottom dollar on trades! One guy got $400 for a ugly used HK P2000, a gun that retails for $700! Plus I've witnessed their "manager" offering "$150" for like new S&W revolvers!
And they use Gunbroker to both sell and get prices for used guns they sell!
I'll be taking my business else where, and I highly recommend new customers do the same! Dave

I have bought a couple of firearms from Ron and Jo's and have had a great experience both times. My most recent purchase was a revolver that is in high demand at the moment. Not only did they have it in stock, it was priced over 40 dollars less than Cabelas. Im not sure how a local gun shop can beat a giant chain on price, but im not complaining! Not only was it a great price, the staff is very friendly and helpful. They have no qualms with letting my wife and I handle weapons even when we arent there to purchase anything. If you are in the market for a firearm, give Ron and Jo's a shot. In my experience, they are the best in the area.

I have bought a couple of guns through Ron and Joe's and a lot of ammo. These guys are always very nice, treat me well and answer all my questions.... great customer service. What's so special about this is that I bought my guns "through" them. They were catalog sales that were delivered through Ron and Joe's. I don't even think they were making any money off the deal, or if they were it had to be just a service fee. But to top it all off, I found that I could have bought my catalog purchases from Ron and Joe's for the same price or a little lower than I paid through the catalog even after spending hours of on-line shopping. I'll be going to Ron and Joe's first and directly in the future. Their shop is very crowded, but the close quarters have allowed me to meet some nice folks while I was there.

I am from Alton and Traders is way overpriced on their guns. I've been looking for a 45 for quite awhile now. Cabelas had a Taurus Millenium Pro for 349 which is a great price. I went to Ron and Joes and they gave it to me for 10 more then knocking a reasonable amount off of their asking price knowing that being a Illinois resident I can't buy a gun in Missouri, the only way to do it is to have it shipped to a dealer in IL and pay a transaction fee. I was happy with the deal that they gave me. The place was packed and it's a small place to begin with but considering the circumstances I felt like I got good service.

The employees are very friendly and approachable. Prices are competitive. Unlike some other stores, they actually act as though they want your business. The store is pretty small, so it's not a great place for browsing, but that's really my only complaint.

There is something a little screwy about the way I've been treated at Ron & Jo's. And since I read these reviews prior to shopping there, I thought I might ought to share my experience with future shoppers.

I bought and paid cash for both a Colt AR and an ordered SIG .556 on the same evening. The SIG they ordered wasn't exactly the model I wanted, but as they searched their internet sources they said I'd better jump on the one they found due to scarcity and demand. Convinced by the opinions of the people that ought to know, I had them order the one they found. Within the next 12 hours, I had found 2 rifles, exactly as I sought, in stock at another local shop. Within 18 hours I was back in Ron & Jo's very kindly asking that they refund the money for the ordered purchase so I could go down the street and get the one I actually wanted. They insisted that I pay a 10% restocking fee, ($180). They had no interest in seeing if they could stop the shipment, and said that they'd be returning it as soon as it arrived, (their stated reason for the restocking fee). Plausible. I pointed out that not only had they given me questionable information on the availability of the rifle, but only 18 hours ago, this was such a popular gun that if I wanted one I'd better hop on it, even though it was not exactly what I came seeking. Now it was a hassle for them to sell? They rightly pointed out that they should be the ones choosing what items their capitol dollars should be spent on, not indecisive customers. Understandable... I thought that was a dishonest position to take, but I get it.

Okay, my stupidity for ordering a rifle while inadequately informed by unbiased sources. I took my refund, less the restocking fee and left without any further conversation; content to learn my lesson. But here's the rub. A few days later, I went in to purchase ammo and there it was! The gun they had no interest in stocking or selling, the same one they charged me the restocking fee for, was displayed on their counter with a retail price tag.

Honestly, had they charged me a Pain-In-The-A** fee and called it a Pain-In-The-A** fee, I would have understood, and done business with them in the future. I own a business and I really do get it. But this was dishonest. I paid them $180 for about 45 seconds of cash register work and another 60 seconds of preliminary registration work, while at the same time, spending over $2,400. They got my $180, and a rifle to sell that they shouldn't have any trouble moving. Despite their convenience to my home, I don't feel good about spending money there anymore.

When they aren't packed to the gills in there, they tend to greet every customer individually as they step up to the counter. When looking for particular firearms they didn't have on hand, R&J's found them elsewhere and had them shipped in usually 3 days. Curt Smith's didn't have it after 2 months. Other shops told me 'what they have is what they got'. I shop CS's and will continue, but the better bang for my buck is at R&J's-by $75-$125 less than the closest several competetors per new Glock. Even when Gun Shops are having people just throw money at them for almost anything they have on hand, R&J's will show appreciation for your business, when some other shops don't really give a da*n because someone else who isn't as discerning will be walking in their door in the next minute, credit card in hand.

If you are looking for a firearm, chances are Ron and Jo's has it, or can get it for you. They have a great selection of firearms and accessories. I bought my duty weapon from Ron and Jo's and was very happy with the service and treatment I received. They are very knowledgable with what they do. You can also find them at the Belleville Gun Show at the fairgrounds. Their prices are competitave with just about any other dealer I have been to, but their location is the selling point for me.

PROS: Price, Selection
CONS: Cramped store
