The prices are reasonable so that is a plus. The halwa puri is amazing, one of my favorite spots! They recently built it to accommodate families, so that is definitely a plus.

Amazing aloo paratha. Wonderful place to get breakfast, a little out of the way for myself, but definitely worth the drive.

One of the friendlier cabbie digs, Shan's has a small grocery section and a dining area with mismatched chairs and tables, where there's always a couple of guys hanging out, eating, watching Pakistani music videos, or whatever. They just added a proper dining room, but I've yet to see anybody in it. We always get take-out. The food is authentic Pakistani-style, not Americanized. They've got cheap samosas, usually fresh because they sell out of them so fast, a big case of sweets, and a good menu of your basic Indo-Pak cuisine. The breakfast special, with chana aloo and three pieces of hot, fresh poori, is not to be missed. I get my frozen paranthas from Shan's because they stock the brand I like and they're walking distance from my apartment. If you need phone cards or cigarettes or personal-size personal hygiene prodcts, or anything else you might need if you spend most of your time in the driver's seat of a cab, they've got it. Not a swanky joint by any stretch of the imagination, but a cool place with good cheap food.

This little Indian grocers is open really late at night. They carry all your basic Indian groceries, from spices to Indian naan bread. They are always well stocked and the sales people are friendly. They will help you find anything you need. The location is really convenient too, and they have their own little parking lot.
