I suspect that the positive reviews for Computerease were written by The Voice on the Intercom mentioned in other reviews. I needed a relatively simple repair. The Voice quoted prices that were much higher than what I had found online. The Voice told me that if I supplied the parts, they would not be guaranteed. The implication, of course, is that the parts would be guaranteed if provided by Computerease. Um, no. The part was not installed properly and broke within two weeks. Immediately, The Voice aggressively insisted that this was impossible, that someone had done something to my computer, and that I was accusing them of incompetence. After five minutes of implying that I was a liar, he informed me that the part wasn't under warranty anyway. The common theme of the believable reviews is that the customer service provided by The Voice is clinically defective. It is. The Voice does not seem to understand the importance of happy customers. When you walk in to Computerease, something seems sleazy. It is. Walk away. (The Voice should change the name to ""COMPUTERSLEAZE"".)

They did a great job for me with my recent computer issues. I was in a bit of a rush and they had everything fixed quickly and I liked their service.

First off, I am fairly knowledgable when it comes to computer. I am able to do many things myself. But, every so often, something goes really wrong (or I create myself a problem) and it's out of my reach. When this happens I just call the guys at Computerease and they bail me out. Last week I dropped my laptop which had all of my newborn son's photos on it. It wouldn't boot. I tried the few things I knew how to do to get my pictures with no luck. I took it up to Computerease and they got all of my pictures back and fixed my laptop and put the pictures back on the laptop. I also had them give me all of the pictures on a usb stick so I at least have one backup now. As usual, a great job guys!

I am extremely happy with the service and support I recently received from Computerease in Collinsville. My computer wouldn't even start up when I brought it to them. They said it would be $69 for diagnostic which would apply towards cost of repair. The next day they called me up and told me that my hard drive was defective. They were able to replace my hard drive and save ALL of my data. My computer runs great now, and I did not lose ANY of my pictures or documents. Thanks a lot to Computerease and I will use them again (Hopefully not too soon though:)

My brother-in-law recommended Computerease to me and I am very happy with their service and the way they treated me. My computer was a mess to say the least and they got everything back together and working great.

They will schedule an apt. and that day when you call them to ask what time they are going to show up they will say you don't have an apt. This happened to me on two occasions. The person who answers their phone often knows nothing about sheduling. \r\n\r\nI'm going with the geek squad. No more support for the inept hometowners....

I have only had a bad time in this place. I like to support local businesses, but an informed computer savvy person is no friend of theirs. I went in the other week to get a computer, and they only had one that was passable. It was fairly priced, but in order to have the things I needed installed I could have had a brand new computer. They have parts there, but will not sell them to you. They want to make the money installing them. There is no warranty on anything and I had to pay them to fix a computer that was bad when they sold it to me. The last time I was in there, there was a very uninformed person trying hard to sell me a used computer... every question I asked him he stared at me blankly and a voice from somewhere else in the building came through the intercom to answer my question. Each question I asked the intercom voice became more irritated... when I finally walked out the door I heard the intercom voice yelling at the guy with the blank stare. I found a guy in St Peters on Craigslist who has really nice machines for dirt cheap and guarantees them. I will never set foot or call these guys again. Done. Finis.

Pros: Local

Cons: Buyer Beware!

The WORST customer service experience I've ever encountered. They will be perfectly nice, friendly and promising...until they get your computer. I paid for expedited service, was told 3-5 days. I'm now going on 6 weeks, and they have never once called me to communicate any issue. Every piece of info I've received was because I called them (after giving it a week or more between my phone calls after not hearing from them). First they supposedly mis-dialed my number (ever hear of trying again), then they supposedly got in a faulty part, then they re-ordered the part and it took longer than expected to get in, then it was the holidays...and now I still don't have my computer. When I told them I expected my computer within 2 more days, the guy got irate and started acting like it was no big deal, saying ""things happen."" He never apologized, continued to make excuses, cut me off when I tried to speak, and when I told him I would contact the Better Business Bureau, he told me he ""doesn't respond to threats."" I doubt I will ever get my computer back, and if I do, that it will work. I don't trust these guys, and cannot stress enough to anyone reading this to NOT give them your business.\r\n

After too many bad "Geek Squad" experiences, I finally tried a local company.... What a relief. People who actually know what they are talking about. They saved all of my Quickbooks company info from the last 3 years off my dead pc.
