This is my favorite pizza place in Chicago, their appetizers are amazing, love their fried ravioli, but the pizza here is amazing. It's a great family restaurant, been coming here for birthday parties, casual get togethers, even stopping by after baseball games for my kids. It's the first place I think of going with my family. The pizza crust is yummy and their sausage is delicious. I even like their pepperoni, and I normally don't like pepperoni.

I am not a big fan of stuffed pizza, and I think the thin pizza here is the best I've ever had! It's not the most convenient location to get to, but if you are ever near Midway I highly recommend it. The flavors are just incredible, and everything tastes really fresh.

Home Run Inn is my favorite pizza place! I love the taste of their buttery pizza crust and even the sauce. My favorite is definitely the hawaiian pizza. You wont be disappointed.

This location has been around for years and outdoes any of the chains that they have opened up in the past few years. I have been going here since I was a kid and continue to frequent it when I am in town. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants an original Chicago pizza.

the bread is so soft, but the meat is still cooked all the way through, and the sauce oh the sauce is to die for, but don't forget the buttery crust.

Even though this is the original location of Home Run Inn, their pizza no longer has the original taste. My family has been eating pizza from the 31st street location since the early sixties, but we finally gave up in June when we got our last pizza that had too much sauce, too little cheese, toppings that separated from the crust, and was overbaked. For the excellent original Home Run Inn pizza, go to the Archer location.

Home Run Inn is the spot in Chicago for hanging out with friends and family, as well as hosting parties. Almost every time I go I am with a huge group for a girls get-together or a wedding rehearsal dinner. Whatever the occasion, the pizzeria can handle it all. Best to setup a reservation for big parties and on weekend evenings. Love the menu selection from types of pizza, to pasta, to chicken. Fits every mood, every appetite.

Everyone has different taste but I was shocked and really disappointed to find out that this was voted #1 in Chicago. I came to Chicago for the weekend. I was born and raised in New York and have had excellent pizza all over the country but when I tried a slice from Home Run Inn Pizza, I thought that I was eating pizza from Chuck E Cheese or Little Caesar except that theirs tastes better.

Trust me I've been to the best of them and this one doesn't even come close. I couldn't finish the slice. The cheese was like rubber. I haven't tried the other pizzerias in the Chicago area but I am looking forward to going to a couple of the other ones like Gino's.

This pizza is good for kids or for people that have never tried REAL PIZZA.

Tastes just slightly better than their frozen pizza. So expensive I rarely go there. This one is in a bad neighborhood. Ones in Darien and garfield ridge are nicer but they rob you with their prices.

The person who wrote the last review is NUTS!! Home Run Inn has the best pizza anywhere that I have tasted. I love it, and now that I no longer live in Chicago, I will have it whenever I return for a visit. The crust is the best! Forget all of thos excuses to consume thich, breadlike substances, this is thin crust so tender you can't believe it! The sauce is home made and fresh tasting, and the cheese is perfect! I'm originally from Philly, where I grew up eating wonderful thin crust. This is the closest I found in Chicago....Do yourself a favor....try it! You'll never go back!

I recently went to Chicago on vacation and I am the type of person that does alot of research on a place before I go. I wanted to eat at the best places in Chicago and I used this site as reference. I decided to check this place out. First thing about this place is that it is in a seedyc slummy area. You definately don't want to venture in this area after night fall unless you have a death wish. Now on to the pizza. Bottom line, it is your average cookie cutter generic pizza. Nothing whatsoever that makes this pizza stand out from your supermarket deli pizza, Little Ceasars, Domino's, Pizza Hut, ect, ect. I have no idea how this got rated on citysearch. This was a huge let down. If you want Chicago Pizza, skip this off your list and do some more research.

I grew up eating and loving Home Run Inn's Pizza, I moved to Minneapolis, MN 16 years ago and resulted into eating Domino's or Pizza Hut which resulted in me making home made pizzas. Until recently I was told that Cub Foods grocery store sold frozen Home Run Inn pizzas, I was very happy. So now I can have it here in Minnesota and of course when I go back to Illinois to visit, we always have the original.

I've been going to Home Run Inn Pizza on 31st street since I was a little girl. My father would take us faithfully every Sunday before we would visit my grandparents. I've had many many many Home Run Inn pizzas and every single one that I've ever eaten has been the best around. Sure I've tried others, but nothing compares to Home Run Inn! They load on the toppings & use premium ingredients. You have to try their frozen pizza too, it's absolutely the best. The Perrino's Deep dish frozen pizza is high quality and taste great! Great customer service, all friendly people (maybe because they're a family run business). They care about everyone who patronizes their restaurant.

A friend from England said this pizza would make him move to Chicago and the guy who said the crust was chewy & wet must have dropped it in his beer or something.

I live in Ohio now, but I grew up near Home Run Pizza, just over the 31st bridge and every Friday night my uncle would go and pick up pizza for everyone. Every time I go back home to visit, we eat Home Run Pizza. My sister and I have even made a trip to Chicago just to eat pizza and come back the same day, that is how great it is! Some may remember when it was a very small place and usually we would just enter the bar area and pick up our pizza to take home. Now it is much larger. At one time I picked up 10 par baked pizzas to bring back to Ohio. Can't wait to make another trip back.

I have grown up eating HRI Pizza. And I must say it is still some of the best tasting pizza around. While the location and the ambiance of the 31st location may be difficult for many (i.e., gangbangers arguing a few tables away)I would suggest you order ahead, probably not on weekend day, and take your pizza to go. I have had hit and misses as far as how the pizza tastes at the HRI in Darien, but I don't hold that against them. Sometimes, it wasnt to my taste. Overall this pizza is genuine and worth the fuss.

The pizza is great at the restaurant. They also offer a frozen version in grocery stores which is also the best frozen pizza. just cook it right on the oven rack and its the next best thing to being at the restaurant. I've been in Chicago 26 yrs and its #1.

I can not explain in words what exactly it is about this pizza that I will travel in rain, sleet, snow and the height of traffic to go and eat. It is to the point that I will literally eat at least two pieces before I can even leave the parking lot.

I will choose this pizza over deep dish anytime - HRI is definitely the best in Chicago!!!

I've been eating at the HRI since it was a tiny, one room bar in the 60's, and it was the best in town for many years, but they're kind of spotty these days. You can still get a real good one sometimes, but it can also be average at times, especially at the "satellite" locations. If you want the best pizza in Chicago (very similar to the original HRI), go to Villa Rosa Pizza and Resturant on Archer Av. just east of Central near Midway Airport. It's a small, family run place that serves the best pizza I've ever had, and it's ALWAYS outstanding.

Was introduced to Home Run Inn pizza about 35 years ago. They would hire butchers from Jewel to make their own sasuage. They used only the freshes ingredients and still do to this day.

Home Run Inn pizza is the best pizza I've ever had! My job requires me to travel around the world, and nothing comes close to Home Run Inn. Even in Chicago, nothing can top it. And the dining facilities are the best. I would recommend Home Run Inn over any pizza shop in the world. And pizza is not the ony thing to eat there!
