Once of the best Chinese restaurants in the suburbs. They will go on a wait regularly so get there early.

Some great lunch specials that end up being 50 cents more then bad fast food chains.

Bean ice cream is delicious.

Only choose Yu's Mandarin if you really enjoy exceptional quality Chinese cuisine, efficient and courteous service at reasonable prices; the setting is exciting, the kitchen is fully visible from the main dining area, watch the cooks in action preparing your delectable meal. There is no better Chinese food experience in the Chicago area or the Midwest. Don't miss this gem!

Best Chinese food we've had, by far, in Barrington area. Only Hunan Beijing comes close.

On busy nights, will only take reservations for groups of 6+. Smaller groups wait a *long* time. So call ahead to check on wait-time.

My son and I shared a very pleasant dinner and evening with my ""Chicago"" friend at this place since I had a meeting at Chicago this week.

I visited Yu's yesterday after I swore a few months ago I would never go back. The first time I had to wait 15 minutes for my waitress to come back to ask for the check. Then I waited another 20 minutes (no joke) for her to come back and take my money. Well the 20 minute wait was enough, she never showed so I took the bill up front to pay, only to notice the soft drinks she had asked if we wanted, were charged as a refill 3 times. I was never notified about the charge for refills and I did not ask for a refill, she offered. The manager did not take them off my check. Yesterday I asked the waiter for a little container for some of the sweet and sour sauce (i had 2 crab rangoon left) so you can imagine I needed a VERY LITTLE bit of sauce. He said he would charge me SO.... I put some of the sauce in my tea cup I never used and took off with it. The service at this restaurant is the worst I have seen. I took my sister as she was in town and she was not impressed AT ALL. I have never been to a restaurant with such terrible service.

Pros: location

Cons: service

.

The food was excellent. Unfortunately, the service from our waiter Raymond was absolutely terrible. We asked for soup while we were waiting for the remaining two members of our party to arrive. Raymond yelled at us saying that he wouldn?t do that. He stated it was too much extra work to bring our soup out first and then bring out their soup once they arrived. One of our party members also had to go grab him to bring drink refills. This was because he didn?t come to check up on us after our food arrived. Finally, he counted the money we left him right in front of us while we were getting our coats on. He then proceeded to question us on the 15% tip that we left. As far as our group was concerned, that was a generous tip for the unbelievably pour service. I?ve been to Yu?s many times and the service has never been good. This time was by far the worst though. My suggestion, there are plenty of good Chinese restaurants in the Schaumburg area that serve good food with great service. They deserve your money more that Yu?s does.

Had lunch here a few days ago. This is the second time I have been there in the past few months and found the place both dirty and the service horrible. When I found a black hair in the fried rice and informed the waiter, he simply shook his head and walked away!! I called him back and asked him to take the plate away since I had lost my appetite. When he charged me even though I didn't eat two forkfulls of my food, I asked to speak to the manager, who proceeded to ask what I wanted him to do about it??? I paid the bill in full and told the manager that he lost a customer. Disgusting place and horrible service to boot!

I have been here a handful of times. Certain dishes good. While others ..just ok. I must say the staff there was not so pleasant. Didn't seem to care about you and your needs. Always a long wait. I went there with my boyfriend. I ordered some fish dish. It was ok...a little too salty. The soup was good. But we were so disgusted as we started to eat our food, a little cochroach ran across our table. My boyfriend was so disgusted. He completely lost his appetite. So, here I was thinking eww gross, but sh*#t happens. They obviously need a better exterminator. Well from my boyfriend freaking out and refusing to eat any further. He told our waitress who didn't seem to give a damn. So, we then spoke with the owner. OMG!!! He was so rude and cocky. I couldn't believe how unprofessional he was. His exact words to us: Ok..so..a bug....they're everywhere right...You know....what do you want? Then he patted my boyfriend on the back and acted as if it was no big deal. As if cochroaches are a normal everyday thing at the restaurant. He then told us he would give us a 10 percent discount. Unbelievable!! We took 2 bites of our food. He should of not charged us at all. My boyfriend paid with his debit card. The waitress comes back and tells us it doesn't work. When it should have worked. It was as if they wanted us to pay cash, thinking our card was fake or something. These people here are so weird and rude. We have never ever gone back again!! This place should be reported to the health dept.

For everyone that wrote a review 2 or less, you people SERIOUSLY GOT THE WRONG STUFF! That food you people ordered -- I could imagine the taste that you people were describing. What you should get is the real Chinese menu -- if you are not able to read Chinese, don't get beef or the non-flavor chicken. I am Chinese -- this is my second time there and it was great. The first wasn't as entertaining, but the second was just amazing. If some of you are complaining about service -- well, let's just say that they are sometimes friendlier to us maybe because we're Chinese, but I'm sure that some of you have wrote 5 out of 5 and are not Chinese and still think it is great service. This is probably because you are either lucky that your waiter was nice (like mine sometimes) or, they might think you are being too cheap by buying too little food. Heck, why would you buy so little food? All that waiting just to spend a couple dollars? Also, if you are going to be stupid like that, DEFINITELY use CASH. This is very important, because one of your reviews is about the credit and debit card business. This is my experience on Yu's Mandarin.

Yu's is awesome, food, drinks, service all number one. Kids love the window view of the kitchen, which is a great touch. Staff very friendly and service prompt. Was first Chinese restaurant I ever tried back in 1996 and have yet to find one in the states that can compete. To Jeff and the rest of the staff, keep up the great work.

I have heard of different bad experiences from my friends about the service of this restaurant until I experienced it myself. I ordered a take out one day, and went in to pick up the food. After I handed my debit card to the cashier, I was told with these specific words, ""Next time, I will charge you ten dollars "".The noodle platter would only cost me $8. 65 including tax. I can tell from the look of his face that he was not happy, so i innocently asked ""Why?"". He proceeded to explain that the credit card company charges them with whatever amount of money if you use a credit card . I was trying to justify myself that the card I'm using is not a credit card(I guess this is the way how you are treated if you buy a menu of less than ten dollars?). He hurriedly scanned my debit card, while saying ""It doesn't matter if it's a debit card""and ended up typing the numbers of the card on the register. When he was finished , he threw the card to me and said""It doesn't work"" . I raised hell as I walked out of the restaurant with this words, "" I will tell all of my friends not to eat in this restaurant again ! You are so rude! All I know is I'm a customer trying to buy food, and you're giving me a lecture about credit card fees!"" That's the end of my story and I hope you learn from my experience.

I liked this place. It's not my favorite Chinese Restaurant, but I WILL definitely go back. They have great appetizers in all sizes and a huge menu. If you ask the waiter/waitress about the Chinese menu on the back of their English menu, they'll tell you the hidden entrees they have on there - I totally recommended doing that. Overall, give the place a try - it's fresh, clean and good tasting. Again, I will be coming back for sure.

Okay, so you may have to wait a little while to be seated at prime times, but consider that a compliment of how delicious their food truly is. The portions are generous, the price is fair, the atmosphere is a little noisy but only because they are always packed! Be aware that they do charge extra for the condiments (ex: $1.50 for a tiny plastic cup of Ginger sauce) if you carry out. Otherwise, it's worth the experience for authentic Chinese food!

This is a great Chinese Resturant. They have been open for a long time and even President Bush Senior visited as they show him in a picture with the owners in the front door. It's always packed and sometime you will have to wait. They outgrew their old place and now they are also at capacity at their new place. you can also see the chefs cook as they are behind a glass wall. they also have a noodle demistration in which they make their own noodles fresh. It's very authentic and parking is plentiful. Awesome place!

The food at Yu's is really good. They have really good deals for Lunch. You can get a soup, egg roll and entree for about $6 bucks. Its worth the money.
The only bad thing is that sometimes during lunch you have to wait a while before they seat you and alot of the times they bring the bill right with the soup. It seems kind of rude.

I have been going to Yu's for almost 20 years, and I have tried most everything there. There are indeed some duds on the menu, but here are the hits... word to the wise - skip the apps and go straight to the entrees: Mabo Tofu; Sesame Beef (tough but tasty); Chicken with Garlic Sauce (not ""Garlic Chicken!""); Szechwan Eggplant; Hot Braised Fish; Xiao Ping Pork. Order these and you will not be disappointed. Going before the big dinner rush usually results in tastier preparations.

I am amazed at the negative reviews I'm reading. Are we talking about the same place? This is, quite probably, the BEST Chinese restaurant I've ever experienced. I've been to Chinatown in Frisco, New York & Chicago MANY times. Lot's of good places. None like Yu's.

The food was quite bland. I had the garlic chicken, and it was not very flavorful, but the pieces of chicken were of good quality. The sizzling rice soup was good. Watching your food being prepared in the kitchen was very interesting, and the best part of the experience. Our waitress wasn't very nice, and was rather snippish. The tea was quite good, because I like weak tea.

We always go here for good chinese food in the area. The staff is always very polite and attentive. Portions are good and prices are right. Also very good for take out. I love the mapo tofu--it's cute they way they serve it on a small metal wok ontop of a little burner at your table. This place always seems to be packed--so they are definitely doing something right.

I agree with the other reviewer who said that Yu's is good, but not THAT great. When in Chicago, I always dine at Yu's and take guests there as well. I always order the Peking Noodle Platter (what Yu's is known for). It's pretty consistent. I'd say that the traditional Chinese dishes are better--but unfortunately you have to be able to read Chinese. So, ask your server to help you choose. I particularly like the 8 Treasures Tofu dish on the Chinese menu. From the regular menue, I also like the General Tso's Chicken and Sizzling Rice Soup. But to tell you the truth, I think ""Tasty Cuisine Chinese Restaurant"" located on the SE corner of on Elmhurst and Algonquin is better than Yu's. They have one dish that is Fried Chicken stuffed with shrimp. It's out of this world--it is something like $34, but worth the once-in-a-lifetime try.

This is a great chinese restaurant to visit. The ambiance is very clean and spacious. The place is big enough to host big parties. The food is delicious and they have a wide variety of menu items to choose from. I recommend the noodle dishes since this is what they are known for. They handmake all their noodles and you can watch them do this or you can watch the chefs cook behind a glass window.

This place is usually very busy so expect to wait a little. The set-up is fine and having the kitchen exposed through a window is a nice touch. It makes you feel like your watching an episode of the Iron Chef. My dish was above average and just spicy enough, not over the top. My date and I also enjoyed a stiff singapore sling on the side which was rather tasty. I would drop in again...

I stopped in on a saturday night for dinner because I drive by it frequently and happened to read all of the wonderful ratings about it. Maybe I was expecting too much but I left dissappointed. I had Schezwan Beef (don't eat the peppers!!!), the dish was bland & the beef was tough and of sub-par quality. My date had Garlic Chicken which really had no taste and almost no chicken. Dinner plus appetizer tray plus 2 drinks = $47... also, the tea was literally water! Maybe I hit a bad day, I may try it once more.

Pros: Great Selection, Clean, Nice Decor

Cons: Expensive, Bland

.

Food is consistently good, but you have to be careful with some of the hotter dishes! Best Chinese restaurant in the NW Suburbs.

Pros: Reasonable prices, Consistent food

Cons: Often a wait

I've tried this place three times after reading its great reviews. Maybe I'm making the wrong choices, but I continue to get these incredibly greasy meals. It isn't that the food isn't quality (for example: the meat isn't scary at all) it just doesn't taste good, or like much at all.

A must try for their famous Noodle Platter Dish. The noodles are freshly made and the taste of all the food are very consistent. The amount of food you get for the price is awesome. I have recommended Yu's to many friends and they say the same as well. If your looking for a classy and comfortable place to eat good food, come to Yu's Mandarin. Ever wonder how they make noodles? On the weekends, they have a guy making the noodles from scratch. Check it out!!
