Integrative Pet Care

Your dog needs this place. One of my Labs needed exercise for his arthritis and they have one of those underwater treadmills. WOW - was he happy. After two sessions, he was so improved. Not to mention the "swimming" fun. The staff are so knowledgeable about all kinds of pet therapy and very caring and professional. Veterinarians of every speciality. Please patronize this place!

My agility Cairn, Skip, has been a client of IPC for the past several months. Dr. Julie is a gem and the therapists are awesome. Well worth the 2 hours round-trip to work these great pros.

My chunky beagle is finally down to a normal and healthy weight thanks to Integrative Pet Care. She goes in once a week for hydrotherapy and therapeutic exercise. It's been really hard for me to get the weight off her by myself because she's very arthritic. But the knowledgeable staff knows how to make her work out safely and I think she actually likes it!

Doctors and staff are incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and nice. Answered all of my many questions (and phone calls) without the attitude that you can sometimes get.

The place itself is very bright and open, clean and smells good. Not easy with dogs and cats coming through all day. It's also very large with one big room dedicated to just swimming and a water treadmill. They have another big room for physical therapy plus smaller rooms for massages and exams.

Will only see you for physical therapy. If your dog has any other problems (like diahrrea) or needs lab work or x-rays you have to see your regular vet.

I took my dog to Dr. Mayer of Integrative Pet Care. Like a previous review, despite having filled out all their forms prior to the visit, she had not reviewed anything and even though I listed the (and we talked extensively) of the allergies of my dog, she kept forgetting them. She sent me away with supplements that caused my dog a severe reaction within 24 hours -- I called immediately and no one returned my call. Finally, I worked with my own vet and found out that one of the supplements Dr. Mayer prescribed was one of the things my dog was allergic to (and we had discussed at length). No one from Integrative would talk to me or return my calls despite 10 attempts to figure out what I should do to get my dog over the reaction. Do not use them and if you must REFUSE to sign their waiver which says you are stuck holding the bag on all the medications/supplements that they wrongfully prescribe.

You have never experienced service like at IPC. The office staff is friendly and efficient. The highlight of the office is their veterinary staff. The vets here (specifically the founder, Dr. Mayer) treat your pet like he/she is their own. They offer treatments and services you can't find anywhere else. They offer compassionate care, spend time with you vs. just running in and out like at an everyday vet office, and address your whole pet, not just their disease or condition. Every pet in Chicago deserves a visit here. Yes, their services are just slightly more than a "regular" vet visit, but in the long-term, your healthier pet means less visits overall and less heartache for you as an owner. Also, you actually want to come in for a visit, because you know when you leave, you'll have a happier and healthier pet. This isn't a "shot factory" where they give 'em 10 vaccinations and send them on their way. This is truly a place where healing occurs. I can't possibly say more about this amazing facility.

I took my cat in to get holistic care options for his kidney failure. As requested, I faxed all prior vet records a few days prior so the attending vet could review them. Once I got to the appointment, it was apparent that the vet either didn't review the records or couldn't remember the information. She gave conflicting information (and would correct herself after I pointed it out) and she also seemed stoned (seriously, she was VERY loopy). For $150/visit, I expected a little more than a vet reciting from photocopies.

PROS: Nice, clean facility
CONS: Expensive, Medical advice of limited value
