i found some really great stuff. I don't think the carter's were overpriced. They were 5 dollars brand new with the orginal tags still. Some of carter's sales are that way too but they were new. I paid 26 bucks and got a hat, 4 footie pjs, a sleep sack and a huge bag of duplo blocks. All were new but the blocks (they are i great shape though)

I really like Good Cents and have shopped there for years. I have found some really good deals and the new teen area won over my eldest. However agree with others that I have had to deal with rude sales people, especially the people in the back checking out the clothes.

I've shopped at Good Cents a handful of times during different seasons. The selection is pretty good, but I'd say that the prices are average compared to other resale/consignment shops. I would say that it's a place worth checking out. It's easy to find on Rt. 38/State St.

I was there yesterday. They definitely have some good buys but was surprised by the sales clerks. They were not friendly. I certainly wasn't there to socialize but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a smile or a 'thank you'. Items were good though. Will probably shop there again but this time will be prepared to encounter unfriendly staff.

I have an easy time shopping at Good Cents- My daughter enjoys the play area and I'm always able to find a few great buys! I've gotten wonderfully priced and hardly worn items made by Gymboree, Lands End, etc. I also sell items and have great luck with it. There is not a ton of money to be made so, I put the money I make towards in store purchases- I love it! The Sales people are wonderful and friendly- they let you do your own thing and are always enjoyable at check out. The only somewhat bad experience I have had is with an older women that works in the buy back area. She isn't good at costumer service- just not friendly. All and all is is an AWESOME store!

I love this place!! I have been buying and selling clothes at Good Cents Children for several years and the service has been wonderful. I really don't understand some of the other reviews stating that the sales people are rude because I have never encountered a rude sales person there. All of the clothes are pretty much new and at a great price! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I'm surprised by all the "rude service" comments. I've shopped Good Cents on many occassions, encountered several different sales clerks, yet don't know any of them personally, and still have never had an unpleasant experience. Not sure what the other posters were looking for - a massage and free cappuccino?

I go there to shop, not to make small talk, but if I do, I've always been treated with smiles even though they don't know me from the Sally next to me.

I go there to find bargains. There are a TON of resales and "upscale / boutique" kid's consignment sales in this area. Good Cents is one of the few I can count on for good deals and great quality. They have a big selection of Gymboree, but also have loyal clients who bring in the nicer stuff like ZaZa, Hanna, Deux par Deux, Fresh Produce and Keedo. It's always been fairly priced versus ebay and other sales. I'm pretty familiar with OUAC's pricing system and I know for a fact that Good Cents is more affordable.

I shop there because I can count on the quality. I've worked kids' clothes resale events before and know that people will try to sell cr*p that would make me embarassed to even donate. My experience with Good Cents is that they must be carefully checking the clothing for flaws under good lighting because I've never had a problem. I'm glad if they've refused someone's stuff b/c it didn't live up to their standards. There are too many places out there like OUAC which will slap a $10 pricetag on a used, stained Abercrombie shirt just because of the brand.

As for the play area, never had a problem there either. My girls have used it and been happy to have it.

All I can think of to explain the "rude" comments is that perhaps the posters are more accustomed to shopping in malls where the chain stores have elaborate training programs, sales goals and commissions that force them to be over-caffeinated perky. In a small town, we tend to move a little slower, take things easier and don't get so worked up about stuff.

I did not find anything good at that store. They just have the worst, most rude, unfriendly salespeople. Most of the clothes are overpriced, and i guarantee you can find better deals at other stores on sale than the used clothes you could find here. Also if you have children i recommend you do not bring them along if you don't want the staff to be behind you the whole time you are there. Will never go back there again.

I happened upon this store while pregnant with my 1st son 12 years ago. I now have 3 boys & have been buying / selling there for years. I have referred them to many of my friends, and some have had issues the same as I have read here. My opinion, however, is that this is an EXCELLENT store. I have always just dropped my items off & had them donate what they didn't take on consignment. Friends have complained that they are too picky & there was nothing wrong with the items they refuse. Frankly, after I spent hours going through the offseason clothes making piles for "Amvets" & "Resale" I don't want the stuff back! If they have an overload of size 8 shorts, and donate my perfectly good ones - so be it - they mail me a donation receipt.I have always found the employees & owners to be nothing but friendly. In recent years, they have grown, and are busier than in the past. They seem to have less time to "shoot the breeze", but as a working mother of 3 active boys, I do not go there to socialize. I want to look for items I might "need" and be on my way. Bottom line is they provide an excellent service if you take it for what it is.

I called the store before visiting because I wanted to know how their consignment worked. After I asked the question to one of the owners, she acted like this was a ridiculous question and neglected to give me details. Regardless, I packed up some of my high quality items and went to check out her store. When I got there she said they only take seasonal items and that they need to accept 12 of your items to start an account. She also listed several sizes they weren't currently accepting. Now why she couldn't have told me this information on the phone I don't know. She would have saved both of us time. She was cold and arrogant.
I actually think I could find new clothes on sale at a store for a better deal than her used items. Especially not a good selection of toddler boys clothes.

I just found this store recently while shopping in Geneva. I ended up picking up some really cute clothes for my son. With the economy being the way it is this store really hits the spot.

I both buy and sell clothes at Good Cents. The staff is rude even to sellers. They over price the old navy and carter's items so that they don't sell. I just take those to Once Upon a Child. The higher end brands are a good price for sellers and buyers.
I've never had an issue getting my money from them, which is why I go back.

I continue to shop at Good Cents despite the rudeness of the salespeople and the owner/manager. The other day I found a JJ Cole Bundle Me for $12, a pair of new-looking Robeez for $8 and some reasonably priced boutique clothes. Some of the stuff is overpriced (like the Old Navy and Carter's clothes) but there are some real steals to be found there if you take the time to look through the whole store. All of the items are impeccable. I have been there on many occasions and have found the staff to be indifferent at best, downright rude at worst. I made a comment about one of the impulse buy items at the checkout counter the other day in an attempt to make smalltalk with one of the salespeople and she looked at me like I was completely crazy, then handed me my bag without saying "thank you" or even smiling. Even the owner/manager acts like you're irritating if you ask her a question. Despite this, I will keep shopping there for the great kids clothes.

We've been to the store several times and my girls always leave with some great finds. However, I have to agree with a previous shopper that the salespeople are quite unfriendly. I do not get greeted, thanked or offered any help.
When my kids go into the play area they are looked at like they are a nuisance, not as if they're the whole reason I'm in the store shopping and spending money in the first place.
The clothes are always in great condition. They also have dance/gymnastic leotards, dance shoes, toys, books and lots of other goodies, all in excellent condition. I will continue to shop there, despite the salespeople.

I have 3 girls ages 6 and under and I have shopped here since my oldest was a baby! I have had the most success with the toddler/girls clothing over newborn baby stuff! Seems there is much more to choose from. It is great for finding beautiful dresses at a fraction of the price in the retail stores. Some things are a little overpriced maybe but you just have to know your prices and stick to what you are willing to pay.

The store is clean and organized and looks just like a regular store. Sometimes I buy the girls' entire wardrobe for the season! As with all resale stores, it is hit or miss, depending on what is available on a given day. This is the place to go if you like brand-name in-good-condition-clothes, not for thrift store prices and quality. So if you are looking for really cheap deals, this is not the place for you. But if you want fashionable clothes but have a budget to maintain, check it out!

I especially like that they have everything from clothes to shoes to accessories and even toys. They also have some new stuff and little extra things like jewelry, hair bows etc... It is a great place to shop if you don't want to deal with going to hundreds of stores in the mall with a lot of toddlers in tow! One stop shopping is an added bonus for me!

As far as the store goes, there are quite a few clothes, and though I believe they are overpriced, some of the items are pretty cute. However, I went to the store for the first time today and was appalled at the rudeness from the 2 store clerks I encountered. Don't expect a smile, a "thank you" when you purchase things, or a courteous response when you ask where something's located. I'll never return.

I purchase a lot of my son's clothes here. You can get great deals on brand name clothing. They carry a ton of brands. It's also a great place to get halloween costumes, x-mas clothes, etc.
