5 Stars: ready for your close up, de mille? (by Laura H.)

I'm one of those people that tests the friendship potential of strangers with carefully considered pop culture trivia based, sudden-death style quizzes. So naturally, when it comes to purveyors of pretentious social accoutrement such as obscure, out of print or otherwise specialty cinema, I also have a quiz; here's Odd Obsession's report card:

1) The Lady Eve: in stock

2) Twin Peaks, season 2: in stock

3) The Double Life of Veronica (Kieslowski) in stock (+1 Bonus
point for also having a bunch of the out of print shorts)

4) Rad (1986 BMX movie, out of print): in stock

5) Army of Shadows by Jean Pierre Melville (probably the greatest film ever made, but unavailable in USA until recently): in stock

**Final Grade: YEAH I LIKE IT!

I'm sure if I were into Korean or Irani or Romanian cinema--or whichever national cinema is the new haps--I'd be just as satisfied, too. Seriously, this place is a treasure and the people who work there are super nice and will sometimes even make copies of out of print things on request! Sweet! A true gem. A+

*Note: This store is now located at 1822 N Milwaukee

5 Stars: Want to rent a movie? Can't find it anywhere else? Look Here. (by Danny J.)

This place is simply amazing by what it carries. It claims to carry "
We specialize in rare, out-of-print, independent, experimental, documentary, foreign, camp, gay/lesbian, cult, French New Wave, Italian horror, Tokyo Shock, Troma, Criterion, Exploitation, Film Noir" and more. And does it ever. Any movie i have ever tried to find has been carried here, even Chanwook Park's new release in theatres "Sympathy for Mr. Vengence". Excellent place, check it out sometime!
