This place is a wonderful vets office. Most of the staff is pretty young, high school or college students, but the doctors know their stuff. Dr. Schofield, is a great doctor and hires his staff with the intention to let people learn. Not only are they very nice, funny and professional they always can help you. If one person doesn't the answer to a question you might have they make it their duty to find out the answer and let you know. The staff there gets to know you, if you are a regular or even if you aren't, and are very helpful. Overall, I recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a caring and loving place to take your animal for care.

The Bensenville Animal Hospital is a wonderful clinic for my pets. It is not the most upkept, but only because the doctor, James Schofield, is more worried about providing affordable veterinary services. I often board my dogs there and with permissions I was able to see the housing conditions my pet would live in. There are plenty of kennels and all of them were sanitary. The outdoor space where the dogs "do their business" is shelter so that the animals are sheltered from harsh weather. I know that on Sundays when the vet is closed there is always someone there to take care of the animals. The staff may be young but I was very impressed by how much they have learned while working for Doc. I am glad that he is willing to hire high school students. Most of them are going to become veterinarians and they have been given the chance to see what it is like before they go into college. I also like how friendly all of them are, most of them remember a lot of the clients and their animals which makes the trip to the vets a lot more relaxed. All in all, Bensenville Animal Hospital is the only place to take my animals. They are sympathetic, knowledgable and cheap. If anyone is ever looking for a cat/kitten or dog/puppy ask them for help becuase they also work with a few of the larger rescues in the area.

My family has been going to the Bensenville Animal Hospital for over 10 years and will keep going. It is NOT a posh spa enviroment - it is a vet. J.M. Schofield (primary doc there) is a bit county vet and has never been anything but helpful, funny and caring. The staff, albiet it young at times, is also VERY helpful and professional. Doc Schofield accepts nothing less than perfectionism and commitment from the staff and it shows. I always board my dogs there when we go on vacation and they have never come home sick, unlike some of the 'pet motel' places, from which they ALWAYS came back in horrible shape.
In summary - go here for great vet service and fair prices. A vet's office doesn't have to have subdued lighting and a waterfall soundtrack playing in the background - that stuff is for YOU not your pet.

I was called out of town on a last-minute business trip and had to find my dog a boarding kennel fast. Bensenville Animal Hospital was on the way to the airport, so I took my dog there for the duration. The exterior was a bit unkempt - overgrown, unattended parkway landscaping, litter strewn lot., a chunk of broken concrete propping the front door open. The reception was fairly clean and didn't smell that bad. I dropped off my dog with the very young person who seemed to be in charge, and hoped for the best. When I got back I dropped in to pick up my dog. The office was closed, but the dogs were all barking themselves hoarse in an outside pen in the back - and it was freezing that night! Some neighborhood kids (there are apartment buildings just a few feet away!) told me the dogs are left outside for long periods day and night. Even worse, they said some of the nearby neighbors are sick of the barking and taunt the dogs occasionally. I pounded on the doors to try to get someone to release my dog, to no avail. When I came back in the morning to pick up my dog, he actually leapt on me and hugged me! He was dirty, matted and wet, but otherwise none the worse for wear, considering he'd never been outside before except on a leash. I asked the (different) young person in charge about the dogs being outside and was told they're only out when the kennels are being hosed down. There was no explanation of why the dogs seemed to be out unattended the previous night, but she did confide to me that the the vet boarded his own dogs there almost continually. Hmm. Anyway, I've since found a cleaner, more cheerful place nearer to home to board my dog in emergencies.
