DO NOT GO HERE!

by k t.

I also had a terrible experience with the dental spa. I went there when I needed a dentist in Indy and was told I needed 5 fillings. I had never needed a filling before but figured it must be true. After the fillings were done I could not put pressure on the top teeth at all. I went back multiple times and each time they got a little less friendly with me, sometimes even ignoring the issues that I was mentioning as though I was making it up! Eventually Dr. Hampton put in medicated fillings (which I had to pay for) and I never went back. Now, almost two years later, I am still correcting the problem with my new dentist. He has had to re-do all of the fillings and I am now having 2 root canals due to poor work done at the Dental Spa. There is no reason that woman should be a dentist! A hand massage and TV is not worth ruined teeth! (However, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful...but she is the only one.)

Nice people but lack of quality

by Anonomous A.

I went to the Dental Spa based on a referral of a co-worker. At the time I started working at my current employer, many of my co-wokers went there - they've since ALL changed dentists. I have two "incidents" since going there (over the last 2 1/2 years). The first incident was from the dentist telling me all my fillings (four that I received between Sophomore year of high school and senior year of college in 2005) needed to be removed. She explained this was done with all fillings - I have since consulted another dentist that said this is not the case - especially since the fillings were so fresh and they weren't causing any pain. Upon removing one of my fillings she accidentally took out more of the tooth then necessary which resulted in a $800 crown that I was responsible for. The second incident is something I'm currently dealing with. The dentist filled a cavity two weeks ago and I still can't put any pressure on the tooth. I've consulted another dentist and without prompting he commented on how shotty the work was. I now have to have the filling removed and another filling - possibly a crown - put in place. - All at my expense. I'd like to mention that the atmosphere and staff are great, but I don't have faith in the ability of the dentist. Every visit is accompanied by her hanging over my head and discussing with the technician what her plans are for the weekend, or, what she did they last weekend. Any dental project beyond a routine cleaning I've had done there has resulted in more money out of pocket and a second visit to have the mistake fixed. One of my co-workers has been dealing with a botched dental job from Dental Spa. It's been going on for four months - the latest attempt to "fix" the problem resulted in the dentist leaving material in my co-worker's gums. Now my co-worker has switched to a new dentist to try to fix the problem - all at my co-worker's expense.

Great Staff, not so great physician.

by Rebekah R.

I was in need of a new dentist in Indianapolis. I just graduated college and decided to stay in Indy post graduation. I live close to the DentalSpa so I tried them out. The secretary was so nice!! I went back to my room and my dental assistant was awesome as well. We did full xrays. I wore the headphones the whole time and watched TV. I also got a hand massage which was nice. The staff is super awesome. They really go out of their way to make the patient comfortable.
My only issue was with the dentist herself. I only saw her for about 10 minutes total. I was in the office for 2 hours. She looked at my xrays with the dental assistant in another room. I wasnt involved in the evaluation of my xrays. When she came to evaluate my teeth, she did not explain to me what she was finding. She then left and had the secretary come in and gave me a price list of everything I needed to be done. I felt very overwhelmed as if they were just throwing prices, referral numbers for other dentists (she cannot do a root canal), loan information (which i didnt need). Overall, I felt like just another set of teeth, instead of a patient.
I work in the healthcare field and I would never imagine making a patient of mine feel like I did when I left that establishment.
Im sure Dr.Hampton is okay with patients who just need regular checkups, but I needed a few fillings and a root canal. She didnt seem too caring for patients who required more attention.

by swathi K. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,823

I like the service in Dentalspa. Last month i went to Dentalspa. This was the first time i went there. The Physician is more friendly and her service is so good. you cant expect that sort of service in others. The also do massage and its so wonderful. The place is neat and the price is also reasonable. I have recommended this to all of my friends. Good place.

Upscale, relaxing dental atmosphere!

by Justine J. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,987

I absolutely love the DentalSpa! Amy Hampton is a very caring, knowledgable dentist. Her staff is the nicest I've met and go out of your way to make sure your questions are answered and that you're feeling comfortable. They offer hand/neck/foot massages, paraffin hand dip and smoothies after numbing procedures. All at no extra cost! I know I am in good hands at the DentalSpa!
