H Souders & Sons General Store

This store is definitely aimed at the tourist, antique-shopper crowd. Located in a historic building, it is very quaint and has a nice selection of gift food items and old-fashioned candy. They also carry a variety of Amish-related books, souvenirs, and artwork. The cookbook selection is good if you're looking for old-fashioned, "down-home" recipes. The atmosphere is clean and relaxing.

While we were taking a drive one day we found this little general store. It has everything in it. We found some of older items in this store, and I wanted to buy it all. It was a blast from the past. I know that the new stores have better prices, but they have nothing on the style of the down home general stores. Great find!

PROS: Old style store
CONS: only one around here

I love going to H Souder and sons general store. IT is a wonderful place filled with all the hard to find penny candy and candy from my youth. I frequent them to make goodie bags for my kids. They also carry bake goods, sodas and dry goods. It is a great place to find soome quirky items for gifts etc etc. Prices good and the help great

This is a tourist type store with big barrels and wooden countertops. It makes for an interesting quick look, but there really isn't enough stock to really call it a general store. There are bags of locally produced foods--baked goods and dried items. The staff is not particular helpful. I have never seen anyone shopping in this store, maybe I have visited on the off days.
