I went to the for a few years, and as people have said, made me have services I never asked for (such as oral cancer screening), and everything was just okay. About two years ago I needed a crown, which they said they would do. I got the crown, but it wasn't made right, and the had to grind it down to a small nub. I was displeased with the service, but they said there was nothing they could do about it, and it shouldn't cause any health concerns. I was annoyed, but kept on my way. A year later the crown chipped and the part that broke off got stuck between my crown and my tooth. I went in immediately because it hurt and I was worried the crown would break further. They removed the small chipped part from between the crown and tooth and told me, once again, there was nothing they could do about it because my insurance would not cover getting a new crown on the same tooth, and once again, they told me there was nothing to worry about medically. My wife, who had been going to the same dentist decided she had had enough and started going to a new dentist, so the next time I was ready, I also went to the new dentist. The new dentist did x-rays and told me I had a cavity UNDER my crown, and that it would have to be replaced. Not only that, but the chip had caused damage on the tooth next to it which led to decay. The new dentist suggested I call the old dentist back to see if they would fix/redo the crown that they had screwed up, so I called up Smiles Plus. They told me there was no way their dentist would have ever let me leave the office unhappy with my crown in the first place, and that the dentist wouldn't have let me leave without fixing it after it chipped. The receptionist kept trying to book me in, and in doing so, discovered that they had never made a record of when I came in with the chipped crown. She then told me that since there was no record of me coming in, and that it had been a year since then, that there was no way they would to it for free. (Similarly, our new dentist told my wife she never needed almost $6,000 worth of work done. [It was a bridge in the back of her mouth, along with related work, which the new dentist says is simply cosmetic and would not effect health at all].) All in all, my insurance won't cover getting the crown redone, Smiles Plus won't fix it, and so I am left having to cover another huge bill or having the tooth extracted.

My family will never go back to this dentist. We switched due to a change in insurance and have spent more in the last year out-of-pocket than we have in the previous 15+. The final straw was when the 'detected' 11 cavities with my daughter whom they just saw 6 months prior. The dentist was rude and was telling her that "she must not be brushing or flossing- very, very bad". We got a second opinion and needless to say - the aggressive treatment plan from Smiles Plus was not needed.

I went to another dentist there, but I thought the entire office was juvenile and very unprofessional. You're made to feel stupid if you can't afford their high prices for what turns out to be substandard work. They just have no idea how to talk to people in a professional way. After going there to have just one crown done, I've made the mistake of having all four front teeth crowned when they were having a $150 off all crowns sale and I am still in the middle of trying to get them to fit correctly. I was not given enough information and the whole situation is treated as if everyone has the same generic mouth and we'll just keep filing these down until they fit your mouth. They never took a bottom impression to be sure that they would fit properly with the four top teeth. I've always been self conscious of my teeth and now I have a completely different reason to still feel that way. I would never, ever, recommend this office to anyone and am writing the company and my medical provider to protest that I was charged for something that wasn't even close to quality work.

I agree with the other reviews. this is the worst dentist ever. I went there after moving out to lafayette and after an oral screening (which also included the $66 mouthwash) they told me i had 12 cavities. i am 36 years old and never had a cavity in my life. I went for a second opinion and it turns out i had two. I am so glad i went for a second opinion, it saved me over $1000 in dental care

I also had the oral cancer screening, and much to my chagrin, it cost an arm and a leg.

I have had two crowns done there as well. Both crowns had to be replaced within a year of having them. One was made incorrectly, and the other one wasn't put in correctly.

The company is all about money, and not about dental care at all. I think they are a rip off.

I came in for a simple cleaning, with my insurance info and asked them to ONLY give me services that were paid for by insurance. I was very clear on that.

The dental assistant, without being asked, made me rinse my mouth with "cancer screening" liquid, and put fluoride on my teeth (before I could even protest, because I know that for my age range it's not paid for by insurance).

The "rinsing liquid", turns out, cost $66. When I protested, I was told "we're sorry you do not value oral cancer screenings, but you have to pay it because it was done". I asked them what happened to full disclosure of procedures. They said "we do these to EVERYONE that comes in!"

So - if you go there, you'll be administered the rinse and fluoride against your will and charged $66+$16=$82 dollars for it.
