I have had two children enrolled at TMA edison lakes and have to agree with several of the other online reviews. This is a poor institution with great weaknesses being inadequate parent-teacher communication, out-dated facilities, and sub-par academics. Fortunately, there are several other similarly priced but much higher quality options in the michiana area.

I'm an alum of TMA and I just wanted to say that I'm glad my parents sacrificed to send me to TMA. I really did get a top-notch education at an early age, and it prepared me for my future academic career. I'm currently studying economics in a PhD program at an Ivy League school (UPenn) and still using the time management skills and active learning techniques that I learned at TMA. I would highly recommend the school.

My daughter went to TMA for the past 9 years and I worked two jobs to be able to send her to such a great school. It is expensive and I can understand how some might question the value of this investment. However, I can tell you that my child and I feel we made a wonderful investment in her education, her self-esteem and her ability to grow into a much more confident young woman. My child is adopted by a single mom and she is a child of color and we felt welcomed and a part of the TMA community. In her junior high class, almost a third of the students were children of color and she was exposed to diversity in terms of religion, culture and belief system but not in terms of income. I like the fact that the emphasis is on learning the material not getting the grade and expecting that my daughter be an active learner. I like the fact that my daughter learned to manage her time and take responsibility for her own learning. I like the fact that there was a strong emphasis on writing and public speaking skills which she needs to be successful in high school, college and the world. I work with college students every day and see how many of them are passive learners who study to get the grade. Many are burnt out by the time they get to college. TMA instills a love of learning in the classroom as well as a sense of responsibility to give service to the world around them. In junior high, service is a big part of the curriculum. My daughter learned about dementia and Alzheimer??s and went to Arborwood and played brain stimulating games with residents. She spent time in the kindergarten classes at TMA assisting younger children. She went to The Center of the Homeless weekly as an 8th grader and helped out in the kitchen, the Montessori classroom, and the donation center while attending weekly lectures by center staff and residents. My daughter is curious about the world around her, she is a good student and team player and she realizes that every day is an opportunity to learn and give and I am grateful that TMA helped me instill those values in her.

We have been proud to be a part of the community at The Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes since 1991. The mission of the school is unwavering. The dedication to the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori is evident throughout the curriculum and the campus. We have stayed all of these years because of the nurturing environment that truly does "Follow the Child". Children thrive in the environment that foster respect for self, others and the world around them. Although the academics are superb, it is the education of the whole child that sets us apart. Our graduates go on to accomplish great things and make a difference in the world. They are confident, compassionate, and well prepared to attend high school, college and beyond from the foundation that was laid for them. I speak this after having three children graduate from TMA. We as parents are charged with the responsibility to seek out an environment where our children will flourish. Our family has made choices and sacrifices to send our children to TMA, but have never regretted it for one minute. Our time as parents at TMA will be ending soon as our last child will graduate in a few years. We will continue to be supporters and advocates for this phenomenal school, as we are so grateful for the education that our children have received.

We LOVE Montessori! Our children are thriving in the Early Childhood programs offered at TMA. Exposing such young minds to dealing with others in a kind and courteous way, independence in doing things for themselves and a love for the order within the classrooms as well as for teachers and friends. Montessori education is not instant--it's a process.

This is our third year at TMA and we couldn't be happier with the quality of education as well as the nurturing atmosphere of the school. The level of staff commitment is unparallelled and the joy that my children experience in their learning at TMA is priceless. We have been so pleased with the ethnic and religious diversity at the school. My children have frequently come home sharing what they have learned about their classmate's diverse religious backgrounds (Muslim, Christian, Jewish, B'hai, etc.). Although tuition is sizable, the board and administration at TMA is very sensitive to having socio-economic diversity at the school and therefore financial aid is available. In closing, we couldn't be more pleased with The Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes.

Sometimes you get nothing for the money. TMA's tuition contract is unethical with a big ?U?. If, your child is expelled, fails to strive in this learning environment, relocates to another country or state due to the parent(s) unpredictable life changes, you will pay tuition for the entire academic year. Do not be fooled into believing the ?Finance Committee? can or will make any exceptions to the contract. The ?Finance Committee? will not try to come up with a dollar amount to accommodate early departure from the original tuition contract. If, you want to hear ?no refund or relief? from tuition then put your child in this school. An exceptional school does NOT need a contract such as this one to survive. TMA?s enrollment has been dropping for the last six years ? I wonder why?

I guess the old cliche "You get what you pay for," explains it all. The Montessori Academy(TMA) is like no other education you can give your child!! This is our 5th year at TMA and would never consider going elsewhere! The teachers, assistants, and the education are better than anywhere else hands down. As a parent, it is our duty to give our children the best education we can, starting at the preschool & kindergarten level! Giving our children the best tools to get started on their educational journey is worth any amount of money it costs to send them to TMA. In regard to the other review, assistance is available! TMA is the place to send your children!

The education, the care, the teachers...were all wonderful! But the high cost of this school prevents many from enjoying it. Our experience there (3 years) was incredible, unfortunately we could not afford to continue on, even with the possibility of some financial help. Due to the high cost, it gives an essence of elitism. The children who go here will get a top notch education (if they are suited for the Montessori Method), but the school lacks diversity.
