My wife and I were looking for a "good " church close to our home when we visited Capital City Baptist. We had just left the one we were attending because of doctrinal differences, worldly music and other reasons not worth mentioning. We visited one other church and received no contact from them concerning our visit. We were visited, called by the pastor, sent mail by the pastor thanking us for our visit and a gift bag was delivered to our door by one of the Care Teams at Capital City Baptist. Having intended to visit other Baptist churches we realized that the preaching, singing, standards, friendship, fellowship, caring pastor and people at Capital City Baptist was for us.
I have been a Baptist preacher for over thirty years myself and it is quite evident that our pastor spends much time in prayer and Bible study for each sermon. It is also evident that his preaching is coming from the heart, the Bible, prayer and not someone else's book, internet series, or wherever some "preachers" today get their sermons.
This is a church that is debt free, the pastor teaches, those who wish to know how to be debt free, through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University material. As a couple that is almost debt free (no credit card debt), small auto loan, we are hilariously thrilled to be able to give of our financial resources to help our local church and its outreach ministries.
The Men's Sunday School class is informative, relative to today, and exciting.
Great prayer time on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., wonderful fellowship at the Men's Prayer Breakfast each month. Also, guest preachers, evangelists, and missionairies keep a good balance of preaching. Vacation Bible School has been exciting for the children as well as Master Club on Wednesday evenings.
This is an exciting, exubberant, 1st Century church in the 21st Century. Praise the Lord for it!!!

This church is caring and kind. We have been attending for quite some time - and will continue. This church really has a caring Pastor and his family is caring. I have personally seen how the Pastor's family is helping other families spiritually, financially, emotionally. The whole church has a helping spirit. I see these things for myself. This church provides many tools (discipleship, Financial Peace University, bible study, Saturday evening prayer, Children's church, Men's prayer breakfast, Master Club, Care Team) for members (and non-members) to use to grow to be what we need to be for Christ. This church does practice what they preach. Good messages, good preaching, good people, good teachers. Everyone is welcome.

This is the best preaching I have ever heard. The pastor preaches from the bible. He is more interested in your salvation than anything else. He will help you get through any problems you are having, personal or about your faith in Christ. If you want to hear the truth ( from the bible) please attend.

Bless Everyone!

Capital City Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental, traditional church. No big screen TVs, or bands. Music is from a hymnal, and preaching is from the KJV. I've read the other two comments on here, and believe they were posted by one family...disgruntled former members. It's embarassing to the cause of Christ that some feel they must behave this way. Notice they give no specifics, only generalities. I've visited the pastor's home on several occasions (which is an average neighborhood home), and seen the family vehicles (both bought used). If he's getting wealthy off the church, he's not spending it there. I've seen the same suit several times on Sundays, so it's not in clothes either. The church buildings are not in disrepair. Any large repair is part of annual building maintenance. Based on scripture, church members are encouraged to tithe 10% of their income. At the same time, it's emphasized that it's more important to give yourself to God than it is to give your money. Each year, the church treasurer posts a financial account of all money taken in along with all expenditures. It would be impossible for any of it to line someone's pockets. The church is very friendly, without being smothering. From the pastor on down, its goal is to see people accept Christ as their savior, then grow daily in their faith. If you're looking for church "the way it used to be," this would be the place to give a try.

This chuch is not helped being ran by deacons or congregation, rather being ran by the pastor, and the pastor alone as a dictatorship. The pastor claims that "nothing is wrong with this church, and nothing is wrong with this pastor". He claims that he is a caring, compassionate man that is a shepherd to his sheep, yet only seems to care about himself. He preaches on his opinion of worldly matters such as dress, music, speech, and actions; rarely does he preach what the BIBLE says about these topics. While he is rarely found working and helping out around the church, he degrades the people of the church by telling them that they do not spend enough time around the chuch, or enough money on the church (or his family). If you question his motives, or his beliefs, he will drive you to leave. He hides things from his congregation and uses large sums of money for his personal accounts. The building has needed updated for years, yet the pastor and his family are VERY well off. Overall, there are some loving people, and no loving leaders.

Pros: childrens programs

Cons: pastor, his wife, building, programs

Sermons almost always lead to or are about money, why arent you giving enough and programs why arent you working enough. If there were more sermans on the word and explaining more efficiently the word ,then the Holy Spirit would work more through the word to convict the people to want to love and follow the Lord . As a result people aren't motivated to follow God as much, as to please the man or they just ignore it all together .Therefore there is no growth. God has to be the center -not the man.
