I would definitely recommend Mars Venus Salon and Spa. I didn't go in for the spa, but I did get my hair cut and colored. I have never been treated better by a stylist! Kristie (the owner) is amazing at what she does and I would recommend anyone to go to Mars Venus for a wonderful day at the spa or to get your hair pampered!

I almost never provide critical on-line reviews because I am overly tolerant of poor customer service and I always give businesses a generous benefit of the doubt. (Running a business is challenging.) However, once in a great while, you run into a customer experience that is so bad, there is a sense of obligation to share with others.

I purchased a gift card for my wife for Mother's Day and scheduled a "spa day" for her at Mars and Venus in Brownsburg, IN. My wife cleared her calendar for an all-day session, and when she arrived that day, she was told that her appointment had been cancelled (with no explanation). My wife was perplexed and inconvenienced, but these things happen, and she scheduled another spa-day a couple weeks out.

In the meantime, friends all over Brownsburg and Indy began to share serious, negative feedback with us about Mars and Venus. We started to get concerned, but dismissed much of the bad feedback and tried to keep a positive outlook. When my wife's second all-day appointment arrived, Mars and Venus called her 2 hours and 50 minutes prior to let her know that her appointment had been cancelled again.

I went into the store to politely request a refund and the owner indicated that it is "physically impossible" for her system to provide a refund. As someone who has a thorough understanding of both technology and customer service, I know this is (1) not true and (2) a devastating way to run a business based on solid customer service. Of course, the owner (Kristie) did indicate that we could purchase product from her store if we would like. Unfortunately, like many others who have posted feedback, we are out big $$$ for services promised, but never received.

Who else has had similar experiences at Mars and Venus in Brownsburg? Please share in order to help educate this business owner and other potential customers. Perhaps our feedback might help this struggling business to flourish someday.

This place is a joke! I wouldn't even call it a salon or a spa! If AVEDA only knew what this crazy woman (owner Kristie) does with the products they would shut her down. in fact if the health department knew what went on in that building they would shut all of it down! First lets start off with the owners, they sold themselves to the devil a long time ago. She has an restraining order on her husband JT so the cops have been called several times when she gets mad at him because so the whole salon gets to see a huge scene. She most of the time looks like she is high on drugs. Both have been arrested and had affairs that all of Brownsburg know about. He can't stop flirting with the girls that work in the salon i have seen it with my own eyes! every single stylist that use to be there are all gone now most went to Rumors in Avon i was so worried about all of them thank God they got out of that place. Half of the stuff that is being put on your body weather it is hair product nails or massage! most of it is not Aveda it is witch hazel from the dollar tree and kolida color from Sally's beauty store! (which is bleach for your hair) so the speech they give you of it all being Aveda IS A HUGE LIE AND YOUR PAYING HIGH DOLLARS FOR CHEAP TRICKS YOU CAN BUY YOURSELF!!! when you get a massage the oils and lotions are cocoa butter and dollar tree oil!!! Half the towels and robes are dirty from the customers before you!!!
The owners short the drawers at night and keep the money for themselves instead of paying the bills then cry and complain to the girls in the salon how they have to sell harder or they will go out of business and all be out of jobs! They pry on young girls right out of beauty school so they can control and bully them!!! please please stay away!!!!!!!! you have been warned love -- someone that use to work at this hell hole and got tired of seeing good people get ripped off!!!

I've been to Mars Venus a few different times and have always been happy with my services. Everyone is always friendly and my difficult hair looks great. I got a tour on my first visit and was surprised when I saw how large the spa is. My next appointment will be for a massage and a facial.

But when asking for a refund, owner was rude and called cops to have me escorted off the property. Still no refund, or service. Out over $100. Just remember if you ever visit for a service, don't forget to ask for the complementary Police Escort.....A Classy Touch.

Purchased a groupon ticket in Jan. 2011. Contacted the salon immediately to schedule the services on March 5th for both my sister and I. I was told when I called that it would be best if I email, which I did immediately. I was then sent this long email regarding you would be sent an email with your appt. and please confirm immediately. I then sent another explaining that my sister, who lives 5 hours away was coming in to town specifically that day to celebrate our birthdays and if they were unable to accomodate our appts. that day to please notify me immediately. I then got a response that my appts. were being scheduled and please provide a phone number to confirm my appts. Now that means to me that my appts. were being made that day and someone would confirm. Well here it is with 3 days before March 5th and no communication after I have emailed and left voicemails numerous times. FINALLY I got thru on the phone today to learn, you guessed it, that there are no appts. for that day and they typically book out 10 weeks in advance. I really don't have a problem with the fact that they couldn't make the appts. for that day, what I do have a problem with is that they did not notify me in a timely manner and the likelyhood of finding appts. at another spa at this late hour on a Sat. or slim to non. Unfortunately I purchases 3 groupon tickets at this salon, so I don't want to be out $150, so I will go, but otherwise I wouldn't bother do to the lack of customer service. I would not recommend this spa based on this experience. BTW--the earliest time they could get me in on a Sat. was SEPT. 24th!!!!!!!!!

I've been to Mars Venus once and was very impressed with my stylist, Amanda. She did the scalp massage, washed my hair, cut and styled it. Along with other reviewers I agree the music is WAY TOO LOUD and there is constant selling pressure. Ok, so the owner commented on one review that selling is everywhere, but I prefer not to hear it on my reminder call, when I arrive for my appointment, by my stylist THEN AGAIN WHEN I GO PAY. If this keeps up, I will be looking elsewhere. Amanda is great, but other salons have excellent stylists without all the stress Mars Venus seems to add to their "menu".

The Hair Stylist and the Shampoo Girl were great. 5-star for the girls but NO STAR for the salon!
The shampoo chair was a disaster! My neck still hurts!
At other Aveda Salon I have been at, they use modern chairs that you can lie down, your neck, your body, your legs, in general, your whole body rests comfortablly in the chair. You close your eyes, enjoy the shampooing time. However, DO NOT dream about that at Mars Venus Salon & Day Spa! I repeat: DO NOT think about it! At this salon, you have to sit, NO SUPPORT FOR YOUR BACK, YOUR LEGS, OR YOUR NECK. I just wanted the shampoo time to be over even though the girl was good! The old chair hurt my neck SO BAD! Why the owners did not invest in more comfortable chairs although their business seems ok??? WILL NOT COME BACK THERE!

I recently went to Mars Venus for a color and cut. I walked in not really know what I wanted to do with my hair. The stylist took her time and made sure that before we even started I knew exactly what I wanted and she helped my with every step. She made sure that I knew what we were doing before we even started. On top of having great hair when I left, I got so much more for my money. It started with a complimentery neck massage, and while my color was on I got a free hand massage. Everything was amazing and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

I recently got a pedicure there it was so nice to come there and relax! When I arrived they opened the doors for me the front desk was very welcoming. They took me back to the spa until the technician was ready for me. The massage was definatly the best part of the pedicure. I left very relaxed. I recomend them to all my friends and family! You should go check them out!

I recieved the worst pedicure from this salon a few months ago...the stylist giving me my pedicure was very distracted and appeared very uninterested in performing the service. Needless to say, her attitude was shown in her work and I was given the worst pedicure I have ever recieved! It was very rushed instead of relaxing and I could have done a better job on my own at home with removing the rough skin and painting my own nails. I have not been back since and now only go to the nail salons in Brownsburg for a good quality pedicure!

My personal experience there is excellent because they always know what to do with my hair and it turns out great all the time. Yes, because they do a great job at what there sapposed to do. Yes. Wow, what can I say. With the woes of a recession, fears of economic hardships, stress from everyday life, I decided to treat myself and my mother to a spa day. We arrived a few mins prior to our appointments to be greeted by such amazing staff, Laura, this adorable little thing with hands from God and an Angelic voice performed my massage and sensory experience. It was just what the doctor ordered.
Ashley, this adorable young lady with legs as long as my entire body and a big personality to match, did my mani and pedi.
The owner brought me chocolates and wine to my mother, water (In a sparkling clean glass) with fresh cut lemon. It was so amazing, when I asked about the tip, I was told "We do not accept tips here, we just ask that you come back." I received two coupons for $15 off my next spa treatment, a card for 50% of massages, and all kinds of other discounts and deals.
My mom and I were so relaxed and at ease when we got home. My body feels amazing.
I can hardly wait for my hair appointment with Ashley in two weeks.
My hubby and I are having our next date night at Mars Venus and taking advantage of the cupid special.

I was a client for several years. I chose to take my business elsewhere for numerous reasons. At first, the customer service was excellent. Over time, it was evident that the focus was the sheer number of clients, not "the experience". Some examples: Wait time on several occasions of 30 min+ (even when I was on time for my appt). Being left at the shampoo bowl for 30 min (on a Saturday) while the stylist worked in other clients. Constant up-selling - one occasion having 3 people approach me about the same special of the day. Inconsistent pricing & discount program - the elite program gives a discount on services, however those services are prices that are increased based upon the stylist you choose (ie, an "expert" stylist). Yes, the menu states that services can be increased based on your stylist - but they should be upfront in the pricing for each stylist. I also found that I was at times given the elite discount and other times not. Always ask for a receipt! Always check to see what services you are scheduled for. I sometimes found the wrong services added on. Example: rather than a color re-touch (new growth only) - I was scheduled for "all over color" - which is of course, much higher in price. On several occasions - the stylist would leave to mix my color - but would be gone for 30 minutes. I can only guess that this was to complete a spa service (pedicure?). Although my appts were with an expert stylist - much of the work was done by an "intern" (shampoo, blow-dry, style and on two occasions the intern assisted in applying color). All of the above happened over a course of time and left me no choice but to find another Aveda salon. Looking back, I should have left sooner. I'm 100 times happier where I currently go because ALL of the services are top notch. The new salon even gave me a gift card at their customer appreciation night for being one of their Top 100 Clients - Talk about service! I can't recommend Mars Venus to anyone.

I went to Mars Venus Spa and received a manicure and pedicure and a massage. I was impressed with the services, especially the massage! However, when I asked for a water it was brought to me in a glass that had lipstick on the ring and there were particles floating in it! I would have expected bottled water in a CLEAN glass when I'm paying so much!

Use to love it. Like the previous review stated, after a while their long time customers seem to become un-important . After being a long time customer, I too now expereince long delays and wait times 15-30 minutes almost everytime. I've never been worked in when I've called in other than my normal appt time , but when I go to my appts they are always behind because they've worked someone in. Also, their stylists never return your calls regarding hair issues. When their stylist goes to a new class or gets a promotion the cost is passed along to the cusomter which is usually every other month or so and it is high I didn't realize we had to pay for a person to keep current on their profession.
Sometimes you are treated well and other times you are not. They are not consistent with treatment and services. At one time, I guess when they were starting their business they really seem to be down to earth and care about their clients, now since their new "top 200 status " they seem to have changed their attitude. I think they need to remember that we are still a small community here in Brownsburg and try to remember some of those hometown values and treatment. People do talk. Use to look forward to going, now it's a toss up because you never know what attitude or service to expect from one time to the next. Sometimes I feel taken advantage of.

2009 Treatment of clients has really gotten worse over the past 9 months. You are 100% correct. They also act like they value their long time clients, but when you bring up an issue they just talk down to you and treat you like a child. Instead of just fixing an issue they argue about it and the client never wins. They also never answer their phone messages to fix issues. They always use the excuse that they didn't get the message. If you go back in to get a hair issue fixed, it's another 2 or 3 weeks before you are back on the schedule to get it fixed, then it's a rush job, if you are even lucky enough to get your regular stylist. Eventually, after a while, one just quits trying to give them 2nd, third, fourth, fifth chances and so on. I've heard that most of their staff has left recently to go elsewhere??? Sounds like it's just not the clients leaving in large quanitites. I have also found another salon in which they seem to really value their customers. No acts or excuses. Just a wonderful service.

I have very difficult hair to color and Amanda has been there with me through every step and she is the ONLY one that I trust. For the level of service the cost is fair, but for some it may be pricey. But as the slogan says, "I'm worth it!" As for some of the other comments, I can say from personal experience that they stand behind their guarantee 110%! I have never been let down by them. In fact they have gone above and beyond on several occasions when they didn't have to.

About a little over a year ago, things started to go downhill. I would arrive for my appointment and have to wait a half an hour to been seen. Then, I would be rushed along. I would pay in the higher pay bracket to see the better stylist/colorist, however, I would spend most of my time with someone in training. On one particular occasion, my appointment was at 10 am, and I did not leave the salon till 4pm. I waited in the washbowl for 45 minutes while my stylist fit other people in front of me. I think that if you are going to charge like an upper class salon, you should be able to deliver a great product, and Mars Venus does NOT do that. I would highly recommend looking into salons in the Indy or Avon area. I also noticed, as have my friends and family, that they secretly overcharge. One of my friends has been overcharged monthly. If you do decide to try this salon out for yourself, ask for a printout of your charges. Overall, I highly recommend that you do not visit or try out this salon.

We have a 100% money back guarantee! First of all, it's niether the front desks policy or the owners to have the service upgraded without the customer knowing. However, it is the practice of "upselling" that is very common in every retail/service industry - i.e. "would you like fries with that!" I sincerely apologize that any client has ever felt "ripped-off", but as is states on the FIRST page of our menu, "if you are unhappy for ANY reason with a service received, notify us within 48 hours, and we will do whatever is necessary to correct the problem." In short, customers are the single most important part of our business, but the difference between a good company and a great one is "the way they handle mistakes", which unfortunately will happen, but if we are not aware of a problem, how can we fix it. Anonymous is definitely not the way to go!

I was under the understanding that a licensed estatician would be giving me the facial wrong. A hair stylist with a cosmetology license gave me the facial. She was very sweet and fresh out of school. Need I say more. I was so angry about that, and they tried to tell me she could do facials. Well I am sure that is true, but I do know what I paid for was a facial with extractions which a cosmetologist can not do extractions. Not to mention I have heard they have girls still in beauty school performing services which is totally illegal. I will never go back there, and I hope that some people will think twice before going back there.

The only person that gives facials at our salon is a licensed esthetician from the Aveda Institute at Castleton, which is one of the most respected institutes in the industry, and she's been here for over a year. In response, to girls performing services that are still in beauty school, could not be further from the truth! We do have interns that work at our facility that are attending school, which perform complimentary services such as hand massages, foot soaks, neck and scalp massages. All of our technicians go through a comprehensive associate program for a minimum of 3 months before that are ever allowed to work on clients.

Wonderful place where all the staff make you feel at home. always smiling and friendly. I haven't had a service done there that wasnt good though sometimes you can tell when one is tired and not really into what they are doing. But I would recommend Mars/Venus to anyone from hair cuts to nails to feet to massage. Products are pricely but that is expected in a spa/salan setting.

I haven't had a service done there that wasnt good though sometimes you can tell when one is tired and not really into what they are doing. But I would recommend Mars/Venus to anyone from hair cuts to nails to feet to massage. Products are pricely but that is expected in a spa/salan setting.

I have gone to an Aveda Salons for years but wanted to try this one, as it was closer to my home. I know they are higher priced than most ploces, but not rediculously so. I needed a hair color touchup (I'm not gray so it's an easy one) with 5 foils for highlights, and a trim of my bangs and base line. Normally that takes about an hour and 45 and costs around $160.00

I arrived at 4:30. I had to wait just a few minutes and all I could think was "turn the music down". I'm not old, but it was headbanging loud. I was already starting to get a headache. Once I got in the chair someone came up to my stylist and said "your pedicure is in such and such room". Maybe that explains why the mixing of my hair color took SOOOO long. I'm not sure, but the entire start to finish was almost 3 hours. As it was it was so late they didn't blow dry style which is normally part of the haircut. With the regular sized bottle of shampoo my out the door price was $249.00 (that did not include tip which they would not accept even though slow my stylist was good)

$250.00 for a basic touch up is NOT something even with a very good income I'm going to pay every 4-6 weeks. Also, I didn't have a master stylist but a new person out of beauty college for only a few months (some Aveda Salons charge more for a master, this was NOT the case, though she WAS really good).

The stylists gave me a GREAT cut, even if it was just a 1/4 inch trim, and was really sweet but I doubt I'll go back. My time AND money are worth more.
