I was excited to try Mikado and had high expectations. Everything was fine but I was not impressed with the food. The service was excellent A+ and I like the decor. I'll try it again, eventially but I won't rush back.

Pros: Great Service

Cons: Small portions. Average food.

I love sushi and was excited to try this great restaurant since moving back to Indianapolis from New York and LA. I realize it's harder to get good seafood, let alone sushi, so far from a sea coast, but I was still hugely disappointed with my experience. The pieces of my chirashi dish were tasteless at best, but barely edible. My companion ordered the sauteed seafood dish (recommended by our server). Every piece was over cooked and dry. For an entree costing $38, that was unacceptable. If only one of the dishes were poorly prepared, i would be willing to say it was an exception. But 0 for 2, it will be a hard sell to get me to try it again. I definitely did not expect it to be on par with Nobu, but have had fast food sushi that was better.

Mikado is, hands down, the best Japanese restaurant in Indianapolis! Their service is flawless, their food is incredible, and they tend to make the entire experience an adventure. While they are expensive, their food is worth the price: Succulent sushi, duck, steak, whatever your fancy, they have it, and they make sure it's GOOD. All in all a wonderful dining experience!

This stylish sushi and Japanese-French fusion hot-spot is the place to be seen, or not seen. The private rooms and secluded corners are often occupied by pro athletes and political bigwigs who savor their Asian fare in privacy. Theā€¦
