There is no denying that I U rocks! It is a really good school in so many different academic areas. Which is good if like most people I know you are going to have to switch majors a few times. It also has a really pretty campus. The party scene here in Bloomington is off the chain. A lot of pretty people are here. A LOT! Lots of activities at IU too. It's a cool school.

I love the convenience of going to university in my hometown. Unfortunately, I've grown to despise how they cater to out-of-town money to the point of trampling over the locals. IU seems to run local business by its influence.

IU is great school over all. I graduated from IU about 8 years ago. The campus is large, so many people takes campus bus or ride bicycle to get around. The campus bus runs almost everywhere in the campus. You can buy season pass (I think), or you can pay as you go.

The library is huge and has a good collection of Japanese books. (I am Japanese, so I often went there to borrow some Japanese books. ) I often used the library to do some research. IU's art musum is pretty nice, too.

The university minght not be suitable for some people since it's very large which means there are more students and size of classes can be large.

I very much enjoyed my school life while I was at student at IU. I hope my sons are going to agree with me when they grow up and attend IU.

Graduated in 2002 - I loved everything about it. With over 180 majors you are always assured to find another major in case you need to change majors. Many times profs that have worked with amazing institutions and companies will teach you in "real life" settings. When you are done studying, there is plenty of campus life to enjoy. There is a huge party scene so you will have to organize but it is worth having to balance everything by being at this amazing university. Local flavors including Bear's, Jiffy Treat and more make this place something unique. With so much history, everything you will learn and the people you will meet - at least visit the school and check it out for yourselves.

PROS: Little 5, Jordan Ave, Dunn Meadow
CONS: ORGANIZE YOURSELF OR ELSE - TERRIBLE ALTERNATIVES

... IU has it all!
The best things about IU, in my opinion, are its beautiful campus and its great academics. The campus can't be beat for its scenery. The "Jordan River" runs through campus, crossed in various places by quaint bridges. The building of Indiana limestone are striking. The abundance of trees is very peaceful, and is especially gorgeous in the fall.
Academics are great too, with several schools ranked among the top nationally. The music school and business department come to mind immediately. Also, the large number of music students means that there is always an opera, student recital, or some other high-quality music event to attend.
I felt that my courses were great on the whole. Many were taught in large (200 or more students) lectures, which I understand is not liked by everyone. If you are a self-starter though, you can really benefit by the knowledge the professors share in these classes.
The wide variety of students is interesting too. There must be students from almost every country on earth here! During my time as a student, it was very common to run into women students wearing Indian robes. As someone who had grown up in a small town, I was very surprised at the very divergent views I came into contact with at IU.
The downside of IU, to me, was that it does have a fairly large "party element". Especially when I lived in the dorms, there was always some partying going on or being talked about. Also fraternities/sororities are very big here, and since I'm not into that type of thing that was a downside too. If you're serious about your academics, I would recommend living off-campus as soon as possible.
I would choose IU over again. Its pluses outweigh its minuses, in my book!
