Our son Dylan has been going to Dee's Lil Darlin's Day Care since March 30, 2008 when he was 9 months old. We had changed our daycare after some unfortunate incidents at another daycare we were attending.
Prior to coming to Dee's, our son did not have a schedule he regularly followed, but within a week, Dee and Tim had Dylan on a great schedule that we were able to follow at home.

Dylan loves going to daycare, and even on weekends, will stand at our front door and yell "Go see Dee Dee" and "Go see Timmy".

We are vegetarian and were concerned about Dylan keeping a strict vegetarian diet. We had explained this to Dee, and she has taken great care with following his feeding restrictions, to the point that I have gotten calls during the day asking if it is alright for him to eat this or that.

Recently, Dylan has started singing songs "row row row your boat" and "old McDonald", which I know we have not taught him, and he even can count to three...all at 2 years old.

Dee has been a great source for me to go to for parenting questions about discipline and age appropriateness (as I don't have family around to help) and I fully respect her opinion.

A good daycare is hard to find. I thank heaven every day that we were able to find Dee and Tim, and when our next child is born, he'll go straight to Dee's as well.

To the parent who said her child's diaper never got changed...you're insane!!! I've never found Dylan with a wet diaper, even though I come and go at all times. Dee and Tim never know when to expect me as I come and go at different times every day and I always find Dylan clean, fed and happy when I get there.

To the parent who said that Dee was unorganized and seemed "spaced out"...you're the incompetent one. Dee gave me plenty of instruction about picking up and dropping off...it was included in the information I signed for my son's file. When she asked you "what are you doing here?"...she most likely was confused why you were bringing your son to the daycare and not the preschool. After 830, the kids go to the preschool, before, they go to the daycare. That's called before and after care and is run like every other preschool in town. She was doing you a favor by letting you drop off your child early. Shame on you for treating her like crap for doing you a favor. As for charging you for only taking your child for 2 days...that's called running a business. She has to pay her workers whether your child is there or not, and if you choose to only bring him 2 days a week, that's your problem. If you had given it more than 2 days to get to know Dee, you'd understand that she's a wonderful caring woman who loves these children more than anything in the world.

Yes, there are other daycares in town with security codes to get in the door, and but the person who takes care of your child is different every day and the cost is twice as much. I'd rather have my child in a place where they are more than a number, and that's why Dee's is #1 in my book.

My child has been attending Pooh's Place, which is owned by Dee, for four months now.
I have worked in social work for five years, including three years working as an ongoing case manager and an investigator for the Department of Child Services. I have extensive training in identifying signs of abuse and neglect and have not seen signs of either from my daughter during her time at Pooh??s Place.

During our time at Pooh??s Place the same teacher, Melissa, has been there the whole time. The only staff turnover there has been was one teacher who was fired shortly after my daughter started attending the pre school. I am guessing the negative reviews have something to do with that employee.

I will give a few examples of the positive experience I have had with Melissa, my daughter's teacher:

My daughter is happy every day to be dropped off and is in a good mood when I pick her up each day. We are very close and I can tell when she has not had a good day, which is not the case when she is at daycare. One day as we were leaving she on her own said to Melissa "I love you" and on a few occasions has ran and hugged Melissa when it was time for us to leave.

When I first brought my daughter to the daycare I asked that she not be given juice but rather milk and water during the day due to concerns about sugar. Dee and Melissa had no problems making this accommodation. I knew that Melissa really took my request to heart when she called and asked approval before giving my daughter a cupcake a parent brought in for a classmate's birthday.

Melissa has shown great concern for my daughter when she hasn't felt well to the point of asking I give her an update even if my daughter isn't able to attend the preschool due to being sick. She discusses with me at length issues related to allergies, potty training, and consistency with discipline to make sure that we are on the same page and that I am comfortable with the approaches she takes while caring for my child.

She shows genuine concern and caring for my child and is great with the children. One day after a family friend passed away my mother really wanted to be with my child. She visited her for three hours at the daycare. Melissa did not have a problem with her being there even though I did ask my mom not to intrude for such a long time in the future. Melissa said it was fine though and that she understood why my mom wanted to see my child. I asked my mom what she thought of the school and she said that Melissa was fabulous with the kids. She said that she was very calm and made the events of the day fun and even clean up time was a game for the kids.

Melissa has been very accommodating and has even offered to wash my child??s clothes that she dirties while potty training, even though I told her that wasn??t necessary. One day during the spring, the temperature dropped lower during the day than I was expecting. When I arrived at the daycare my daughter had on an extra sweatshirt that Melissa found for her to keep her warm outside. I was very grateful that she demonstrated that level of care and concern for my daughter.

Melissa goes out of her way to create fun newsletters each week that outline the lessons the children are covering and what is coming up next for them. She also makes really cute crafts with them that they are able to display on the walls. One day my daughter showed me what she made and was very proud of herself. She also does things like coordinate parties for the holidays and makes gifts for the parents. She goes above and beyond her job description.

Pooh??s Place does not deserve the negative reviews posted and I have not seen any evidence of the events described in them.

I enrolled my son late in the year so I didn't receive most of the information I needed, like where to drop my child off, what time, etc. The owner, Dee, seemed to be a complete space cadet. The first day I took my son to school Dee came to the door and just stared at me and my son for a minute then said What are you doing here? I said I was dropping my son off and she said she thought I was one of the teachers. I didn't have a very reassuring feeling when I left my son in this woman's care. The second day I did the exact same routine, took my son to the upper house. Once again, Dee came to the door. She asked me what I was doing there I told her I was dropping my son off. She snapped at me saying they were down at the other house. I asked how I was supposed to know where to drop him off in the morning, she responded very unprofessionally by saying try looking at your watch. I informed her that drop-off information was never explained to me, even when asked. On top of all of this she was charging me for a full week when he was only to attend half days. Needless to say, my child only attended for two days. I would never recommend that anyone enroll their child in this school. I was very uneasy leaving my son there for the two days he went. There is definitely a lack of communication and organization at this school, two things I feel are necessary when running a large school such as this one.

Reguarding the comment left about my 'incompetence', if you had read (and understood) my comment in it's entirety, you may not be so quick to judge. Maybe you need an interpreter? This review is based on MY personal experience with Dee. Just as the parent whose child WAS left in the same diaper (it was physically marked, that is a FACT) was based on THEIR personal experience. To make this simpler for you to understand, I was TOLD BY DEE to drop my son off at the daycare in the morning. SHE is a SPACE CADET and I stand by that. I was fearful for my son's safety. It is my responsiblity to look out for him and his best interests. I do not care if Dee is a wonderful human being, I did not see any sign of it. Dee is unstable and money hungry!
I am scared for your child if you take parenting tips from this woman. Also tells a lot about your stability...

My 4, almost 5, month old daughter came home from Dee's not once, but two days in a row having not had her diaper changed all day. Before this incident occurred, she was coming home in diapers 1 size too small for her, so I knew she wasn't getting changed on a consistent basis, or we would have had to take in more than 2 packs of diapers. However, she came home on a Monday with a very large, soaked diaper. My husband and I were stunned that this could have happened at a place that came so highly recommended from my co-workers. We marked a diaper for Tuesday. When asked when her diaper was last changed when I picked her up, I was told an hour previously. When I got her home, she was wearing the diaper my husband had marked that very morning. The neglect was denied, of course, but the damage was done. Not only did these people fail to do the job I was paying them to do, but they made my co-workers look like fools for referring them.

My son went to Dee's Lil Darlins daycare when he was 6 months old and continued to the preschool until he was 4 years old. Her daycare and preschool staff took great care of Andrew. Go check out her websites bloomingtonindianadaycare.com,bloomingtonindianapreschool.com,and poohsplacepreschool.com. You will see the beautiful hand-painted murals inside, wonderful playground, and care that goes into maintaining the properties and running a successful, profitable daycare. It is right behind Templeton School. It is tought to find a dependable daycare or preschool, but I felt safe with Andrew being taught and looked after. Thanks Dee!
