This is an amazing school that addresses the whole child in a community context. Everything in the orderly classroom is devoted to how children learn, and there is a solid philosophical and time-tested underpinning. Montessori kids typically excel when they enter mainstream schools, because they have learned to be self-motivated, and to get along with others. Beginning with pre-school, children build a community of self-sufficiency with careful guidance. The teachers come to know all the children so well, and work carefully with parents to assist in the child's development. Bonus - you can observe without being seen. The program emphasizes peaceful resolution, independence, curiosity, science, practical skills, reading and so forth, and there's lots of nature and art, too, and all are addressed in a systematic way from the very beginning. The staff are exceptional. The lunches are amazing -- made-from-scratch soups, for example, and fresh fruits and vegetables. However, to truly do this program right, you will, as a parent, be involve-- there's a work requirement (minor, but important), and some fundraising, since it's a private non-profit, but honestly, I don't think you can find better value. If you are interested in this for your child, you had better get on the list as soon as they are born, especially if you hope to have your child continue through the elementary program. As parents, we feel incredibly fortunate to have had our child develop and thrive in this school. The three preschool teachers have worked with us, over the three years in preschool, to help our child develop. It's been amazing. Highest marks for this school. I believe it also received exceptional scores from the national accrediting board, which was very impressed with the school. It is a private school, and provides a rather protective, nurturing environment, which we like, but there is a great deal of ethnic diversity, and celebration of other cultures.

I am very pleased with my child going to this school. It is amazing. You can watch the kids work in their room with the instuctors and it is great. They are very independent. My daughter has learned so many new things from going to school here. She learns Spanish every week and she has so many friends. The people here are great.
