Mistake #1: So I decided to buy a new laptop and unfortunately went to Best Buy to look around. I actually found one that had all the specs I was looking for and even had a price that couldn't be substantially beaten online (aside from sales tax of course)
Mistake #2: I told a sales associate (or worthless guy who sucks at his only job of helping SELL things) that I wanted this (pointing to a display model)
Mistake #3: Sales associate brings laptop to counter, and I find out its $100 cheaper than listed. I looked at him puzzled, and actually asked why it was cheaper. He told me it was a sales price that just started that day. Great, the computer I wanted for far cheaper than online...maybe there is something to buying things in a brick and mortar store.

So I get home open up the box and much to my amazement it's NOT THE RIGHT MODEL. It's the smaller screen and the Intel i3 processor instead of the i5 I was looking for.

In anger, I of course take the laptop back to the store to in fact get the right one.

Problem #4: They, in fact, don't have the model I'm looking for even though it's on display Problem #5: I look to get a refund so I could then buy it online, but Best Buy won't allow a return without a 15% RESTOCKING FEE because I opened it. I ask for the manager and he has the audacity to ask me why I deserve a full refund without paying $100.

He tells me it's my fault that I opened the box before checking to make sure that his employee did, in fact, retrieve the correct laptop. Mind you, this means they expect me to pay $105 because I was sold the WRONG computer. They tell me they will find the right laptop to do an exchange...they go in back and bring the WRONG computer AGAIN. I am now to the point of rage and consider posting up with a billboard out front to ensure no one buys anything from them ever again. Finally, they agree to give me a Best Buy gift card with the full refund on it, so that I may order the right laptop from them on their own. In the end I was forced to order the right laptop through Best Buy so I didn't lose out on $100.

It brings me to tears that I have to support their terrible excuse for a business. The only reason someone would ever go to a store like that is to receive customer service, and when they fail at such an easy and simple task they deserve to fail. I hope they fail. I will never buy anything from Best Buy again. Ever

My computer wouldn't power up so i took it to the Best Buy "geeks"--it was late and best buy was still open. The tech looked at my computer, checked the connections, then concluded that the motherboard was fried. I asked him to check the power supply--he did, I think--and he said that the power supply was fine. I took it somewhere else and found out that the power supply (not the motherboard) needed to be replaced. This fix cost me $40. Best Buy and their geek squad have definitely earned the negative press they've received.

Ridiculously high prices for merchandise of mediocre quality. Everything they sell can be bought online for (generally) half the price or less, including shipping. Store personal are eager to help but often condescending until you prove you know what you're talking about.

I got DSL and I was told that I needed a network card. So, I called Best Buy to see if they could look at it and see if I have a network card in the computer. They said to bring it in and they could look at it and see. I took it into the store and I was told to wait until a tech could look at it. I waited for 45 min and then they told me that it needed a network card and I had to leave it. So I left it so they could install one. I called every other day for the next week to see if it was done. Finally 8 days later they called and said it was done. I went to pick it up and they charged $100 to put the network card in. I thought it was high but I don??t know a lot about computer so I paid it. I took it home and it started locking up so I called Best Buy and they said they would send a guy out to look at it. A guy came out and said he didn??t know what the problem was and I needed to take it back into the store. So that day I took it into the store and they told me they would call when they find something out. Three days later they called and said I had viruses and I need to get it cleaned. I never had a problem with the machine but I said to go ahead and clean it but I a lot of data that I needed and I couldn??t lose. They said they could back up data but it would cost more. I said go ahead and I would pay for the backup. Two weeks later they called and said it was done. I went and pick it up and the bill was $387. I was upset it was that high and they never called or said the bill was going to be that much. I could have bought a new computer for the price I have paid already. But they wouldn??t go done on the bill so I paid it. I took it home, it locked up again, and they reloaded it and none of my data or programs was there. I called and asked where my data was and also where my office program is. They said they had to get back with me. I waited a week and called and talked to the manager and he finally told me that they lost the data and they can??t install office because of pirating. I had office on there before they looked at it. They refused to give me a refund even on the data backup that they didn??t do. I took it to another computer store on Tenth Street that told me I have two network cards now and the network card they sold me wasn??t needed and it was bad. The network card they put in was bad and caused the locking up issue. They installed office that I had on there and help me get everything working again. Also they didn??t charge me because of the entire problem I had with Best Buy. I will never go to Best Buy again the prices are high the service is horrible. If you want your computer to work STAY AWAY FROM BEST BUY!!! They don??t care about you, your needs, or your data.

This is a well merchandised electronics store. Employees are helpful but somewhat hard to find at times. Sale prices are average. Good central location with easy access off street.
