I rented a car from ACE in Chicago and it was filthy inside. Food/drink items caked to the surfaces and clearly not vacuumed. Then I returned it to the Bloomington location. I accidentally left my iPod in the console of the car, and as soon as I realized my mistake I went straight to the rental car property to ask if they had found it. They did not take me seriously and I had to call later in the day to get an answer. Finally the manager told me they couldn't find it and blamed it on me. I realize I should have checked the car twice before returning it, but I also think it says a great deal about the integrity of the employees and the business that obviously SOMEONE at this business stole my iPod. Had they found it and wanted to give it back, they would have called me right away. Instead, I had to go to their offices and then had to call them later to finally get an answer. The manager sided with his employees instead of the CUSTOMER, and overall this was just a TERRIBLE customer service experience. I wasn't even offered a discount on my rental or a coupon for a future rental. There was absolutely nothing offered to me for my loss. DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL COMPANY. Spend the extra $$ and go with one of the much more reputable and professional businesses such as Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, etc. This place is amateur and extremely unprofessional. I have done business with several car rental companies in the past for my job, and can honestly say this is the absolute worst one I've ever dealt with.
