Very impressed!!!

by Lauren S.

I just today went through a tour of the facility myself and I was amazed.. I think that this facility is wonderful and for those who feel the need to be so negative, i think before u discourge someone so strongly from going here, you really need to incourage them to try it themselves. This is a wonderful facility and I think maybe your personalities might have somthing to do with it. If u are a rude or stuck up person then you might not enjoy the lighthearted and fun atmosphere of the Hotel and Spa. All of the dogs as well as the owners of those dogs that were in the facility were very happy and satisfied. Also all of the staff were very kind, warm and welcoming to all clients coming or leaving.

Disappointed with new staff

by Mr K.

I have taken my dog to Good Dog Daycare for sometime now. I was always greeted at the door by 1 of the Managers and now I am told she was let go. I am very upset because every staff member talked about her & my dog being very close. They always had something nice to say about her.I was told he sits and watches her all day. I have spoken with other clients who know who I am talking about and they feel the same way. They say she always paid attention to every dog. I am just in shock. Now I have to deal with new staff member's that never seem excited when my dog comes in. A smile wouldn't hurt, or even acknowledge us. Hopefully they improve quickly or we will have to find another facility. And what is up with the staff telling customers to get online and write a good review about hte place? This is not a way a business is ran. Get a life people.

Very Satisfied with Good Dog

by beth n.

I have been going to Good Dog for over 2 years. I had previously been going to another facility off of Binford Blvd, but was not pleased with them. I am very pleased with Good Dog, and with the level of care they give to my high energy dog. My dog has some special needs, and I have had some special requests, and they have been able to accommodate all of them. They handle my dog's energy level very well. They know my dog well enough to know if he is having an "off" day (just due to low energy). He does daycare there about twice a week and kennels around 30 days/year. He has never been returned to me with any issues of large concern (sometimes he has gastro issues due to separation anxiety. They have always reported these minor "loose stool" issues. I now put him on medication for this if he will have more than a 3 days kennel stay). He readily goes with their staff to the PLAY area, and always comes home happy and tired. I have him groomed there as well and have been satisfied with that work.

I don't know how I could provide good care to my dog without them!

It's your opinion

by Tasha S.

Call and ask for the owner. She will take care of everything. She will go out of her way to make corrections. She runs a tight ship and she is there for the dog's. Maybe she will make changes if people start calling her instead of dealing with the Receptionist

Unfortunate

by to t.

I have taken my two cocker spaniels to Good Dog for grooming twice each time their hair is cut with clippers without the guide leaving marks throughout their coats, one time my dog had been sheared so short I didn't know it was him when I asked what had happened I was told one of the groomers called in leaving one groomer to groom 32 dogs. Today I called to ask if they expressed their anal glands with the grooming and I was told it is an additional $10.00 on top of $35.00 per dog. I told Amy the receptionist that sure seems excessive to me and should be included with grooming all I got was silence. I think the silent moment told me what I needed to hear and considering the other reviews I will not be going back which is unfortunate because it is in a convenient location and very pretty inside.

Good for dogs???

by Karen R.

At one time, I would have whole-heartedly agreed that this facility went above and beyond its mission statement. Sadly, I will now do my best to discourage any caring dog owner from taking their pet to Good Dog Hotel and Spa for any reason. We went to Good Dog Hotel and Spa for over a year. Our dogs went to daycare at least once a week, and they were boarded in the hotel on three separate occasions. Our experience with the staff in the daycare and at the front desk had been a positive one, with one unfortunate exception. The woman who we would see most often, and who we assumed to be in a position of management, always came off as cold and distant to both people and dogs alike. Thinking that we were being oversensitive, I asked two friends about their experiences with her. Unfortunately, their experience was the same as mine. We have noticed a huge staff turnover in recent months. Then we noticed that the quality of service declined. Our dogs would come home with split, bleeding nails. Some of the newer staff members were unnecessarily rough with dogs. There is almost always water or urine on the floor of the lobby, and it smells as you walk in like it never did before. Now the self-service bathing station is too gross for us to consider using. More recently I would find my two high-energy, medium-sized dogs sequestered in the puppy area with no explanation. It seemed that as the number of customers grew, the number of restrictions increased, and the service declined. As we continued to receive poor customer service from this particular woman, our concerns also grew. I decided to address this issue with the woman on our next visit. She became defensive. She went so far as tell me she needed to take medication as an excuse. My heart went out to her, but my concern about this person leading a team that would care for my dogs while I was away grew. She then took my dogs into the daycare area. My spouse watched through the observation window as she sobbed to her staff members (and in front of all the dogs in day care) about what had happened. One of the staff even stepped away from the dogs he was caring for to come and take a look at me through the window. She refused to continue working with me to check my dogs into the hotel and instead asked two separate staff members to finish up with me. She then left the room, but other staff members who I presume she also told her story would come out of different areas in the facility to take a look at us. At this point, I could not be reassured that my dogs would receive the quality of care that they needed. The staff was not putting the dogs welfare and happiness above all other business considerations. I asked that my dogs be retrieved. Yes, this meant canceling our travel plans for the evening, but it was better than the alternative. It cost us some money to do this, but it was worth it. I then asked how many days were remaining on my 10-day pass, because I wasnt sure that I wanted to bring our dogs back at all. The man who told me he was the hotel manager asked another staff member to check on this and refund the balance of the pass to the credit card I used to purchase it. I hadnt decided I wanted a refund, but I guess I was getting one anyway. Was I being kicked out of Good Dog Hotel and Spa? When I explained that I had paid cash for the pass, the staff member told me that she could refund the cash amount. The hotel manager again stepped in and told me that this large amount (only $80) would need to be sent by check. If I thought the woman before him had been rude, it was unmatched by his treatment of me at that point. I did receive a receipt from the kind staff member who took my information for the refund, and I hope I do receive it. It will be one positive experience that I hope will take away some of the pain that we experienced at Good Dog Hotel and Spa.

lack of service

by Harold S.

I have been to several groomers in the past and nail trimming, gland cleaning was part of the service for one price dog bathing. When I went to pick up my Lab I noticed her nails were not trimmed, so I questioned it, I didn't like the answer so I questioned other services that should have been included and gland cleaning was one not included. I voiced my dismay and left.A couple months later My wife called for a grooming and they told her that they didn't want our business because I complained to them.Well I assume there are enough customers out there who want a half done job to keep them in business because as far as I am concerned their service an their attitudes are HALF ASS ED.

great facility, snooty staff

by s s.

Love the facility and the all the options there. With the exception of a couple people, I find the staff very snooty with a "customer as the enemy" mentality. I am not a weirdo about my dogs so I know that I don't push buttons about them. I just fine them sort of unfriendly.

Dogs love it.

by Pam D.

We have kenneled our 3 dogs with them a couple of times and will continue to do so. The dogs seem to really enjoy their time there and appear to be well cared for while we were gone. It is difficult to get a reservation, so you must plan ahead.

Bad Dog

by Rachael H.

I took my lhasa to Good Dog to be groomed. They took a long time, and when I picked her up, she was missing her harness. In addition to my dog being anxious, I looked down and noticed her toenails were bleeding. The groomer also told me that if I was to bring her back again, they want her sedated. These people work with dogs all day-- I felt that all of these things were unacceptable. Needless to say, we won't be returning to Good Dog.
