Terribly managed! I planned, over a month in advance, to send my dog to the week-long "boarding school" where he was to be dropped off Monday morning and then picked up Friday evening with three training sessions per day. I came to pick him up Friday evening and I found out he wasn't even trained! They then tried to charge me for his boarding fees and offered me nothing in return for their huge mistake. On top of all of this they didn't give him his medicine correctly. I will never go back and would not recomend it to anyone.

Because I knew very particular dog lovers who used Good Dog, I took my new rescue poodle, Sophie, to day care. I ignored the bad reviews on this site, and I am so glad that I did. Sophie is well loved there. Sometimes I worry that her feet don't touch the ground because the staff cuddle her. When I turn the corner onto Winthrop, she tries to get out of her seat and makes her excited sound. On a couple of occasions, she catapulted herself across the counter into the staff's arms. I do hope that they don't think that I abuse her and that she is trying to get away from me! I have boarded her for a long weekend, and she seemed quite happy with the situation. The place has never smelled, the self-wash is not gross, and there has been water because of frequent mopping when pups have accidents... Sophie's fearful demeanor has improved greatly since she has been at Good Dog Daycare!

Good Dog Hotel and Spa is a Wonderful Business, ran by three Managers, Michelle, Sam, and Katie! My dog Gracie has been coming there for about 4 years now. They have always shown great care and adoration towards her! We come in to use all of their services quite frequently, and never have we been disappointed. Their Self Serve Bathing is unlike any I've ever used. They use all natural shampoo's, which at first I became very curious if it was even cleaning by dog- because the soap doesn't seem to suds up- but when I asked their staff, they explained that since it is all natural, there are no chemicals in it to make it suds up. This of course makes perfect sense, and never have I heard of a dog place even doing that! As I said, we have been coming here for 4 years- through the change in ownership, and the growth in their management! The new owner is always out in the front lobby, greeting the clients and giving out treats to the dogs! They all have big hearts and you can always tell how much they care! It breaks my heart to see these bad reviews on here, and the people who make their decision to not try them out for themselves. Everyone has bad reviews, and no matter if something doesn't sound right or come out right, they will always make it right- by giving you a call back. They really are an outstanding business, who always take the next step to make you and your dog happy!

I had read reviews before taking my newest elderly dog over to Good Dog Hotel, doesn't seem like they are getting very good ones right now. So I thought I would share my story: I have taken my other dogs to them in the past. She is an older dog and needs ALOT of care- she is on several medications and has a hard time walking/seeing. I was surprised they even took her! They told me they would put her in a room closer to the place where she goes potty outside so she wouldn't have to walk so far- she is incontinent and they said she didn't make it outside several times during her stay. When I went to pick her up I had to wait- (she had again peed on herself)
They came out and told me they were giving her a bath! WOW (I was just going to take her home and do it. I have to do that alot now). I thought that was really nice of them! I knew she was going to need one anyway. I've had dogs all my life- I boarded in the late 80s and early 90's and your dog would ALWAYS SMELL when you picked them up. That's just part of going to a kennel. But for them to make the extra effort to clean Chloe up meant so much to me. She is a big, old dog and to have that sort of patience and attentiveness deserves GOOD MARKS! Cudos to Good Dog Hotel! Thank you for taking such good care of my Chloe!

I have been a client of Good Dog??s for over a year and have always been very pleased with their facility. The staff is very friendly and always remembers my dog??s name. I like knowing that they take the time to get to know my dog. It also makes me happy when we pull into the parking lot and he knows exactly where he is and gets so excited to go in and play! I also take him there for grooming and he still loves the facility! He used to shake and not want me to leave at our old grooming place, but not at Good Dog! The facility is also very clean and that??s very important to me. I trust Good Dog completely to take care of my little man!

I recently brought by 60lb Goldendoodle into Good Dog Hotel and Spa for a summer hair cut. They were recommended by a friend, so I made an appointment. I was immediately impressed when I entered Good Dog! I had no idea how upscale, clean, and welcoming the place would be! It actually feels like you're in a real hotel lobby, and smells nice too! The staff at the front desk was very friendly and the groomer came out to introduce herself in person and to have a quick chat about what kind of cut I would like for my dog. The same groomer called me herself later that day to tell me how good Baxter had been for his hair cut, and that I could pick him up at my convenience later that day. Baxter's haircut was great, the price was very reasonable, and the location was very accessible. I would recommend them to my friends as well.

We have been taking our 2 dogs to Good Dog Hotel for 2 years. Our dogs are 70 lb spoiled pains in the butt who adjust poorly to ANY new situation or person and are used to human company 24/7/365. When we drop them off at Good Dog, there is no moaning or digging in of paws, they run into the Doggie Day Care area and give kisses to to attendants. More important, the staff are wonderful about my husbands daily calls to check up on them and do not bat an eye when he tells them that our dogs prefer to watch ESPN to Animal Planet in their "suites". Great all around, 5 stars.

There were so many mixed reviews of this facility, that I had to check it out. I actually made note of some of the negative reviews on here and did my own research.

I was beyond impressed! The staff all seemed super friendly, and I was greeted instantly and offered a tour. I got a chance to peek in the day-care room and didn't see one tail NOT wagging! Having a ton of experience working with dogs, I could tell the supervisors in there were all very familiar with each individual dogs' personality.

Somebody's review had mentioned that they split the dogs up by age in daycare; this is not the case. The way it was explained to me, there are three sections, used primarily to split the dogs up by size and temperament. The day I went there was a German Shepherd in the smaller dog area. When I asked why, they told me they like to keep arthritic/disabled and shy dogs away from the bigger, playful dogs. I think it makes sense.. it gives them a chance to exercise and socialize without getting hurt or being scared.

They also seem to do a really good job of keeping the place clean. Just in the few minutes I was checking it out, I saw them clean and sweep the floors multiple times (which is probably why "there's almost always water on the floor" according to another reviewer; I saw mops everywhere).

The hotel was muuuch larger than I expected, and all the rooms were clean, had blankets, and water bowls. I was surprised by how organized everything was. Each room has it's own cubby and shelf for toys/food, etc, and some dogs even get their own TV!

I can't say anything about the grooming there, since I haven't taken my dogs in YET; but it seems like a great choice considering that, on top of being groomed, they can spend the rest of the day playing with other dogs instead of locked in a tiny metal cage.

Overall, this is most likely one of the best doggy daycare and boarding facilities in the city. I'll never understand why people single out employees and b**ch like they do... the focus is on your POOCHIES! Not receptionists! As soon as my dogs are up to date on their vaccines, I plan on taking them there multiple times a week. I can tell they'll be in great hands!

Good Dog has been a GOD send! My little puppy Lucy got into everything at home and was always into mischief when I was at work. Then a friend recommended Good Dog and Doggie Daycare! Lucy gets to play with other dogs all day and make friends, while NOT making a mess at home! When I pick her up in the evening she is SO happy and tired! She just wants to lay on the couch with me and my kids instead of pull the stuffing out of our couch! Thank Goodness!

I have never seen my dog Guinness so excited to go anywhere without his mommy but Good Dog Hotel and Spa. This is more than just a daycare, boarding facility, or groomers...this is a place in which goes above and beyond to help their clients in any way shape or form. When my father passed away a few months ago, Good Dog Hotel and Spa stepped up for my entire family. They were willing to come early or stay late to allow my family the time we needed to cope with this sudden loss. They wanted us to know that our babies were safe and that we did not have to stress or worry. They were our friends... Thank you for all you do!?

I have been taking my dog Bower to Good Dog for the past 2 years and LOVE them! They know my name and face as SOON as I walk in door in the morning with Bower for daycare. The girls at the front desk always welcome me with 'Good Morning' and smiles as Bower runs full force toward the Day Care play area. When I pick him up at night he is always happy to see me, but exhausted and happy from his day of play. I love Good Dog because I know my Bower is in good hands during the day. They keep him busy playing so that he will stay out of mischief at home.
After reading some of these reviews I'm left a little angry. I think there are some people that you can NEVER make happy. Good Dog has always gone above and beyond for Bower and I, and I know all of my friends who go there feel the same way! I HIGHLY recommend them and so does Bower!

I just today went through a tour of the facility myself and I was amazed.. I think that this facility is wonderful and for those who feel the need to be so negative, i think before u discourge someone so strongly from going here, you really need to incourage them to try it themselves. This is a wonderful facility and I think maybe your personalities might have somthing to do with it. If u are a rude or stuck up person then you might not enjoy the lighthearted and fun atmosphere of the Hotel and Spa. All of the dogs as well as the owners of those dogs that were in the facility were very happy and satisfied. Also all of the staff were very kind, warm and welcoming to all clients coming or leaving.

I have taken my dog to Good Dog Daycare for sometime now. I was always greeted at the door by 1 of the Managers and now I am told she was let go. I am very upset because every staff member talked about her & my dog being very close. They always had something nice to say about her.I was told he sits and watches her all day. I have spoken with other clients who know who I am talking about and they feel the same way. They say she always paid attention to every dog. I am just in shock. Now I have to deal with new staff member's that never seem excited when my dog comes in. A smile wouldn't hurt, or even acknowledge us. Hopefully they improve quickly or we will have to find another facility. And what is up with the staff telling customers to get online and write a good review about hte place? This is not a way a business is ran. Get a life people.

I have been going to Good Dog for over 2 years. I had previously been going to another facility off of Binford Blvd, but was not pleased with them. I am very pleased with Good Dog, and with the level of care they give to my high energy dog. My dog has some special needs, and I have had some special requests, and they have been able to accommodate all of them. They handle my dog's energy level very well. They know my dog well enough to know if he is having an "off" day (just due to low energy). He does daycare there about twice a week and kennels around 30 days/year. He has never been returned to me with any issues of large concern (sometimes he has gastro issues due to separation anxiety. They have always reported these minor "loose stool" issues. I now put him on medication for this if he will have more than a 3 days kennel stay). He readily goes with their staff to the PLAY area, and always comes home happy and tired. I have him groomed there as well and have been satisfied with that work.

I don't know how I could provide good care to my dog without them!

Call and ask for the owner. She will take care of everything. She will go out of her way to make corrections. She runs a tight ship and she is there for the dog's. Maybe she will make changes if people start calling her instead of dealing with the Receptionist

I have taken my two cocker spaniels to Good Dog for grooming twice each time their hair is cut with clippers without the guide leaving marks throughout their coats, one time my dog had been sheared so short I didn't know it was him when I asked what had happened I was told one of the groomers called in leaving one groomer to groom 32 dogs. Today I called to ask if they expressed their anal glands with the grooming and I was told it is an additional $10.00 on top of $35.00 per dog. I told Amy the receptionist that sure seems excessive to me and should be included with grooming all I got was silence. I think the silent moment told me what I needed to hear and considering the other reviews I will not be going back which is unfortunate because it is in a convenient location and very pretty inside.

At one time, I would have whole-heartedly agreed that this facility went above and beyond its mission statement. Sadly, I will now do my best to discourage any caring dog owner from taking their pet to Good Dog Hotel and Spa for any reason. We went to Good Dog Hotel and Spa for over a year. Our dogs went to daycare at least once a week, and they were boarded in the hotel on three separate occasions. Our experience with the staff in the daycare and at the front desk had been a positive one, with one unfortunate exception. The woman who we would see most often, and who we assumed to be in a position of management, always came off as cold and distant to both people and dogs alike. Thinking that we were being oversensitive, I asked two friends about their experiences with her. Unfortunately, their experience was the same as mine. We have noticed a huge staff turnover in recent months. Then we noticed that the quality of service declined. Our dogs would come home with split, bleeding nails. Some of the newer staff members were unnecessarily rough with dogs. There is almost always water or urine on the floor of the lobby, and it smells as you walk in like it never did before. Now the self-service bathing station is too gross for us to consider using. More recently I would find my two high-energy, medium-sized dogs sequestered in the puppy area with no explanation. It seemed that as the number of customers grew, the number of restrictions increased, and the service declined. As we continued to receive poor customer service from this particular woman, our concerns also grew. I decided to address this issue with the woman on our next visit. She became defensive. She went so far as tell me she needed to take medication as an excuse. My heart went out to her, but my concern about this person leading a team that would care for my dogs while I was away grew. She then took my dogs into the daycare area. My spouse watched through the observation window as she sobbed to her staff members (and in front of all the dogs in day care) about what had happened. One of the staff even stepped away from the dogs he was caring for to come and take a look at me through the window. She refused to continue working with me to check my dogs into the hotel and instead asked two separate staff members to finish up with me. She then left the room, but other staff members who I presume she also told her story would come out of different areas in the facility to take a look at us. At this point, I could not be reassured that my dogs would receive the quality of care that they needed. The staff was not putting the dogs?? ??welfare and happiness above all other business considerations.? I asked that my dogs be retrieved. Yes, this meant canceling our travel plans for the evening, but it was better than the alternative. It cost us some money to do this, but it was worth it. I then asked how many days were remaining on my 10-day pass, because I wasn??t sure that I wanted to bring our dogs back at all. The man who told me he was the hotel manager asked another staff member to check on this and refund the balance of the pass to the credit card I used to purchase it. I hadn??t decided I wanted a refund, but I guess I was getting one anyway. Was I being kicked out of Good Dog Hotel and Spa? When I explained that I had paid cash for the pass, the staff member told me that she could refund the cash amount. The hotel manager again stepped in and told me that this large amount (only $80) would need to be sent by check. If I thought the woman before him had been rude, it was unmatched by his treatment of me at that point. I did receive a receipt from the kind staff member who took my information for the refund, and I hope I do receive it. It will be one positive experience that I hope will take away some of the pain that we experienced at Good Dog Hotel and Spa.

I have been to several groomers in the past and nail trimming, gland cleaning was part of the service for one price dog bathing. When I went to pick up my Lab I noticed her nails were not trimmed, so I questioned it, I didn't like the answer so I questioned other services that should have been included and gland cleaning was one not included. I voiced my dismay and left.A couple months later My wife called for a grooming and they told her that they didn't want our business because I complained to them.Well I assume there are enough customers out there who want a half done job to keep them in business because as far as I am concerned their service an their attitudes are HALF ASS ED.

Love the facility and the all the options there. With the exception of a couple people, I find the staff very snooty with a "customer as the enemy" mentality. I am not a weirdo about my dogs so I know that I don't push buttons about them. I just fine them sort of unfriendly.

We have kenneled our 3 dogs with them a couple of times and will continue to do so. The dogs seem to really enjoy their time there and appear to be well cared for while we were gone. It is difficult to get a reservation, so you must plan ahead.

I took my lhasa to Good Dog to be groomed. They took a long time, and when I picked her up, she was missing her harness. In addition to my dog being anxious, I looked down and noticed her toenails were bleeding. The groomer also told me that if I was to bring her back again, they want her sedated. These people work with dogs all day-- I felt that all of these things were unacceptable. Needless to say, we won't be returning to Good Dog.

After picking my dog up I tried to pull out of the parking lot and my bumper caught on rebar sticking up from the bumper in front of the stall. It pulled the bumper away from car and a piece of the grill fell out. An employee from another shop picked it up to hand it back to me said ""this happens all the time"". $1000 later my bumper will be fixed. What has this got to with Good Dog Hotel? The owner owns the parking lot-when I called him to explain what happened-not expecting him to pay-but to let him know that there is a problem, he said that he was sorry but he drives a bigger vehicle so he doesn't have that problem. I expected him to say that he would fix it and maybe offer a free visit or two of day care as a way of being nice. Instead he hung up on me. This isn't the type of person I want taking care of my dog. He sets the tone for the entire place and you can tell it when you interact with the employees. There are plenty of places where I can take my dog for day care; Good Dog Hotel won't be one of them.

I have been a client of Good Dogs for over a year and have always been very pleased with their facility. The staff is very friendly and always remembers my dogs name. The facility is also very clean and thats very important to me.

Had a great experience. The moment you walk in there is a calming environment that was extra clean and smelled great, especially for all the dogs they have coming and going. I called the day before and they got me right in the next day. We just got our second dog the night before and they were super nice and took their time with her. I would definitely recommend this place. They seemed to genuinely care about the dogs that were there.
