Visited Mac Nivens with two others to celebrate a birthday. The waitress was not attentive, and was very impatient with us - she wanted to take our drink order immediately. We indicated we wanted to take a look at their listing of beers, so she went away (for about 30 seconds). We all ordered the fish and chips (which I understand they are known for), and quite frankly it was a REALLY big disappointment. The serving size was quite ample, but the quality was just not there. The batter on the fish was tough and not at all tasty. The chips were just ordinary steak fries - the kind you would by in the freezer case at the grocery store - nothing special at all.
When I asked for a refill on my diet coke, the waitress said OK, took my glass and never brought my drink back. She did, however, return with the bill (very promptly, I might add).
If you want GOOD food, don't go to Mac Nivens.

This popular Mass Ave pub/restaurant is the place to go for a rare selection of beers and the ONLY place in town I know where you can try Scottish food. Beer may bring you in but the scotch eggs, haggis on bread (order extra bread) and their beef stew will keep you coming back. They also have a variety of more standard fare and bar food. Safe to say it is THE BEST Scottish themed pub/restaurant in Indianapolis!
