Siam House is THE BEST!
by alice w.
First tried Siam House at Taste of Bloomington, they were selling combo plates of pad thai, veggies and peanut sauce and chicken curry with rice for $3! It was great and so much food! We went to the restaurant shortly after and had an excellent meal and outstanding service! Alex was our server and he went out of his way to explain the spice levels, suggest wine and even convinced us to try the sticky rice with mango! It was unbelievable!
Can't go wrong there!!!

Food wise...I LOVE this place!! Always fresh & hot!!! Reasonably priced for as much as you get.
Service-wise, they could def. use some work...we waited one night for over 25 minutes to get our food AFTER we ordered it. If she would've been upfront & let us know what was going on, certainly wouldn't have been an issue.

TERRIBLE dining experience
by Sarah E.
We have eaten at Siam House regularly and looked forward to it each time. Last night, however, was a different story.
Both my dining companion and I ordered what we usually order at Siam House (at the same level of spiciness that we always order at your restaurant) at dinner last night. Mine was a bit spicier than usual, but not so spicy that I couldnt handle eating it. My partners meal, however, was so spicy that she could literally not eat it.
She talked to the waiter, Alex, and asked for a less spicy version of the same thing. Alex went back to the kitchen, where the chef told him it was the right amount of spiciness and that it couldnt be replaced. I suggested he call the manager. The manager (if Alex actually called the manager, which frankly I doubt) said that she could get 10% off the meal she ordered, but she would have to order another meal at full price. This whole exchange took about 15 minutes. Her meal was in the kitchen all the while.
At this point, her options were:
1. Continue to try to eat something that was painful for her to consume.
2. Spend twice as much on two meals because she was dissatisfied with the first one.
3. Not eat and pay for something she did not eat.
Option 3 was the one she chose in the end. She ate probably six bites of her mealand drank four glasses of water.
Alex was inflexible in his view on the subject. This is a policy I have not encountered anywhereon either side, as a food service provider or as a customer. Even at a fast food restaurant you can return your meal if youre dissatisfied. If you cant, theres really no point in that question: Is everything all right? Because if it isnt, it doesnt matter. You still have to eat it.

If you don't care how you are treated - by all means eat here
by Kathryn P.
We have never experienced worse service in our lives. The waitress was the most incompetent server we have ever encountered and to top it off not at all apologetic and presented a confrontational attitude to requests that should not have had to be made in the first place.
Drinks arrived after our meals did, again after several requests and reminders. Our server never came to refill our glasses resulting in us taking a water jar from the prep area.
Our appetizer arrived with the check along with many excuses throughout the meal directed at the kitchen's inabilities and language barriers between waiters and kitchen staff.
Not once did our waitress apologize or provide positive explanations, but rather disregarded our frustrations and presented an attitude of total contempt for our simple requests.
In the end we did receive our appetizer. When we requested a box for the main portion of our meal the wait was excruciating and again had to request the item from another server. Then upon our own waitress return with the check she explained the appetizer had been taken off the bill. We requested another box for our appetizer and she took the appetizer away from the table.
We understood this to mean she would box them up herself. No, indeed mistaken. She returned with a box but no food. When questioned why in the world you would bring an empty box back when there was no more food on the table and she had recently taken the appetizer away, she said that she had taken the appetizer off the bill and therefore we could not have them to go, because we had not paid for them.
She continued to make excuses placing blame on the kitchen and that she had no control over the mishap with the appetizers. We disagree, but regardless; the entire rest of her service was dismal and went completely unrecognized as a fault of her inability to succeed at her job.
The long and the short of it, our waitress failed at every step throughout the horrible dinner experience and we will never be eating at this restaurant again.

I love the Siam House! They have the best Pad Thai there. I started eating there 15 years ago or so. Maybe longer, whenever they opened. Since then I have travelled a lot and I always try Thai restaurants wherever I go. I have never found one to rival Siam House. They have awesome soup and appetizers. Really good curry dishes. Actually everything I have ever had there is fantastic. I also love the Thai iced coffee and iced tea. Yum! I would eat there evry day if I could!

Wow. I can't say enough about this restaraunt. I have taken a few dates here, and it is absolutely lovely. I can't express how nice the atmosphere is, how nice the people are, how good the food is, and most importantly, how comfortable I feel when I go there. It's a little small, and so when you walk in, you naturally notice a lot of detail, and on the wall there are numerous awards hanging there of when they were voted the best in Bloomington for quite a few years. This is a wonderful little ethnic restaurant that I highly recommend. 5/5.
PROS: Great food, great place
CONS: They close for an little in the middle of the day.
