Heartland - East State Dental Care

Will never go to East State Dental again. They are overpriced, and unreasonable. After my dental work was completed, they charged me $320 above my initial quote. Prior to getting the work completed, they told me they contacted my insurance company & they gave me a quote of my out of pocket expenses. I paid them immediately for my portion, & was shocked to get an additional $320 bill. I disputed the amount, & they refused to budge. After filing a complaint, they decreased the balance 50%. I begrudgingly paid the balance to avoid going to collections over $160, but I will never step foot in their office again. I have had the same dental insurance for 13 years, & NEVER had a problem like this with my prior dentist and/or with my kid's dentist. East State only wanted to blame my insurance company for not paying enough, but the fact is that they are overcharging for their services above the usual, customary, & reasonable fees for the Fort Wayne market.

Have your wallets ready when you walk in the door. Freshen up on your dental terms because they will get very technical and talk over your head as if you weren't there and then tell you all sorts of stuff that needs to be done urgently. The Dr.'s fake smile and happy attitude is just that-fake. So much it's sickening, along with her breath (go figure)! I thought the Dentist's name was Dr. Coleman not Kathleen Smith but after a wrongful billing inquiry I realize she does run the office.

I would describe my experience at East State Dental Care as fantastic. I have always dreaded going to the dentist but the team made me feel comfortable from the moment I called. They even asked me how they could make my appointment better the next time. Dr. Coleman showed genuine concern for not only my teeth but also me. The office itself is absolutely beautiful; very modern! I would recommend this dentist to anyone looking for quality dental care.

Okay job cleaning my teeth...However the ladies behind the counter ended up billing the wrong insurance agency and instead of telling me they had a problem they decided to send my bill directly to a collection agency. What the heck people?! Let me know I owe you money and I'll pay it. Also a lot of reviewers are complaining about numerous cavity reports. I would have to agree that they do seem over the top when it comes to recommendations. Overall.. not happy :/

I couldn't agree more with Roberts post. My family has been dentist shopping after moving to Fort Wayne. The staff seemed amazing at East State Dental Care. After our first checkups I about had a heart attack. They told me that each of my kids has over four cavities!! How in the world could that happen in just six months. I am definitely getting a second opinion.

After seeing Doctor Coleman twice I was advised that I had over three different cavities. This did not seem right at all seeing as how I take very good care of my teeth. I decided to get a second opinion at Stetzle Dental Group off of Dupont. To my amazement I had no cavities. I have also had several of my family members tricked into getting false fillings with Doctor Coleman... Watch Out!!!

This is hands down, the best dental care that I have gotten in my lifetime. Everyone in the office has a positive and friendly attitude that just makes me feel good. The dental hygienists are very thorough, yet extremely gentle, and very nice to talk with. Dr. Coleman is also extremely gentle and very personable and sweet. To top it off, they give patients a flower upon leaving and it sets the tone for a wonderful day ahead. Even my young children love to go and get jealous if I have an appointment and they don't! Give Dr. Coleman and her staff a chance. I stumbled upon them by accident but boy and I glad I did!

PROS: very gentle, positive atmosphere, have movies to watch while work is done
CONS: not one thing
