Yes, there is a BOOKS A MILLION down the street in the Traders Point shopping center West 86th Street at Zionsville Road (next to Petsmart). It's been there for several years.

This is a great store! Good book selection and a great selection of unique toys. My daughter loves this place. The bad review below is confusing because there isn't a Books A Million in Indianapolis. Maybe she has this store confused with another one?

We love this place :)

I will admit the name is deceiving because there are more toys than books. Nonetheless, the selections have been chosen with care and consideration for novelty and quality. Not all staff members have a talent for book selections, which might prove frustrating for a less-than-patient or hurried shopper. However all are friendly, kind, courteous, and willing to lend a hand in the search for something appropriate. If you want titles that you can find at a big box, or Target for that matter, then this store is not necessarily for you. But if you want beautiful books and heirloom quality toys, you'll love 4 Kids. I find it impossible to believe that Anonymous couldn't find an appropriate selection for a two year old and baby sibling. In my experience the proprietor gives a discount to homeschoolers and to children spending their own money (how fabulous is that?). Every birthday and Christmas shopping trek I make includes a stop at 4 Kids. One cautionary note, I do screen my book selections for older children with care because the proprietor does purchase unique titles, the content of which, in my opinion, is sometimes too sophisticated.

4 Kids doesn't try to duplicate the 'big bookstore' mentality with unlimited copies of its inventory. When I go to that shop, I find an amazing range of topics, and it's clear that the proprietor has given the ordering some great thought.

It's strange to me that 'Anonymous', having asked for a 'classic', considers Snow White to be a 'horrid little book of fairy tales.' I would bet that wasn't the only suggestion this person got from the sales staff. I shopped for a book for a grandchild and the salesperson spent at least 45 minutes helping me find just the right combination of book and toy. A 'classic', to me, goes back a lot farther than something that is currently popular.

Perhaps 'Anonymous' can't be satisfied.

Don't go to this store expecting a great selection of books or knowledgeable staff. I was trying to find some "classic" books for a gift and when I asked the sales person to point some out, she recommended a horrid little book of fairy tales that looked something I could find at Big Lots for 2 dollars. It literally had what looked like a gum price tag rubbed off the front cover.

When I explained that I was looking for something more like, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" or "Harold and the Purple Crayon" she said she'd never heard of them. If it weren't for the teenager behind the counter pulling her favorites from memory, I would have gotten nowhere. We looked for "Goodnight Moon" but the woman said "Oh we sold it." They had one copy of "Goodnight Moon"? We looked for Eric Carle--two or three copies at most. We looked for "Rainbow Fish." Nope!

The young girl continued to try to help, but there we no copies of anything along those lines. Then the woman rolled her yes and said "Snow White. How much more classic do you want?" Yeah, I'm gonna give a story about a wicket witch poisoning a princess to a two year old and her baby sister.
There weren't even any nice surprises here like you find when you browse through books you've never seen and stumble upon a book with delightful illustrations or a wonderful lesson. Nothing like that here.

So I went to Books a Million and spent two hours happily browsing through copies of Eric Carle and Dr Seuss books, "Goodnight Moon," "Rainbow Fish," and all the other books we all love. Oh, and I spent over a hundred dollars. It was too hard to choose just a few.

Great little children's book shop. The clerk was super friendly and helpful. Prices were average, just as I expected. The location is good, easy to park. My little girl enjoyed browsing around looking at the kids' books. They had a really good selection of toddler books which is what I was shopping for. I will definitely return in the future.

My kids want to come to this place every time we visit this city. They will literally drag me to their premises when we are into this shopping center. Not just my kids but many others kids also make a beeline here during the weekends to just get a glimpse of this wonderful place. They have all playing items for the kids which attracts all of them. Good marketing strategy theirs.
