Give the place a chance.

I used to work here, and have used the kennel myself. There are certain times of year when all new kennel staff is hired and mistakes are made like the ones listed a few posts back. That was posted right when I left (because I graduated college and got a job at a veterinary clinic, if you must know). It's insinuated that the kennel carries low-grade food. They feed Iams, which is actually mid-grade...some people send their dogs in with Alpo! Anyway, when you call in, you're talking to the people at the front desk, who have NOTHING to do with their care in the back, so of course they're going to be unsure.
Their computers are slow - so it would be rude to look up information while someone is on the phone - especially if the lobby is full of clients.
Also, if a dog doesn't eat their own food, sometimes they'll offer the low-residue food, which is a mild food that's easier on their stomach. Some dogs just really don't want their own food! And sometimes new workers make mistakes.
They've had the same staff for a year now though...(counting the new hires that came after I left).
This is the lowest priced, oldest continuously running kennel in the city, and they're still operating out of their original building. Give them a chance. The managers are certified Animal Care Technicians, so they DO know what they're doing.

I usually take my dogs elsewhere, but as they were booked, I was able to get a reservation at Sleepy Hollow. I always send my dogs' food to the kennel with them to avoid upset tummies and low quality food. I send each meal in its own ziplock baggie with each dogs name clearly marked on the bag. There is no measuring involved, just dump the baggie into their bowls. After my two dogs had been boarded for two nights, I went to pick them up. The kennel staff handed me the bag I had dropped off with them, complete with each meal I had sent! Also, I had sent with them a bag of biscuits to have anytime...not one had been given to them. I know because I counted them. When I checked their "report card" it had clearly marked that they were to eat their own food. It even said how well they had eaten their food. When I called the following day to question what, or even if, my dogs had been fed, they were unsure. They assured me that they had eaten though. How would they know? I was furious. I will never take my dogs back to this place.
