Overlook Restaurant

My husband and I went on a 241 mile ride on our motorcycles and stopped at the Overlook to eat on 04 Sep 2009. The food is ALL homemade and the people are very courtious. The prices are reasonable at about the same price you eat at a regular restaurant. My husband had the pot pie and I hade the bourbon sirloin and we also had appitizers and it ran us about 40 bucks. Our table had a BEUTIFUL view of the Ohio river and we were even entertained by a little ground hog outside. EVERYTHING was great with the exception of the manager trying to sell his coffee in the dinning room to some consumer. It was us and another couple and the other couple also seemed taken back by this. He "pitched" his coffee THE WHOLE time we were trying to eat! I think as a manager, he should have known better to carry out buisness in the DINNING room where people were trying to enjoy their meal! He should have gone to the office or the back dinning room or told the hostess not to seat anyone in the back dinning room where he was carring out his buisness. It was hard to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. But other than that, I would give the Overlook 5 statrs! We will be back!

that a restaurant with such a gorgeous location would be so unwelcoming and serve such mediocre food. We've stayed twice at the Leavenworth Inn B&B, which we love, but the fact that the 'breakfast' part of the stay is a voucher to the Overlook is a real bummer. You don't feel like a guest at the restaurant, you feel like an imposition. The food is just okay at best. It makes me hesitate to recommend the Inn, which is very nice, because the restaurant is NOT. My advice - skip the restaurant and enjoy the river view from the parking lot.

I have been to the restaurant on three occasions and have been very disappointed in the quality of the food and the service. It seems to me that they offer the bare minimum in the selection on the menu and the hostess should really step aside and let someone that is more customer oriented take over her job. I think she has grown older and grumpy and is not a good representative of the restaurant. I must admit the view of the Ohio River is gorgous, but the restaurant lacks in many things.

The Overlook restaurant is located in Leavenworth, Indiana. I live in Louisville, Kentucky, but enjoy driving to this place for special occasions. We usually go to this place on Mother's day, and always enjoy the food and atmosphere. You can make reservations, but be prepared to wait for your table even with reservations. They do not have the full menu on holidays. The food is very good, and the prices are low. I usually get the fried chicken which comes with two sides and a salad. They will bring a plate of biscuits with your meal. The biscuits are delicious. The hostess is an older woman who can be a little mean to people at times, but the waitresses are always pleasant.
