I really like the staff and the doctor's here. I had to take my cat in because she all of a sudden had a head tilt, her eyes were moving funny and she was very wobbly. The staff got her right in, Dr. Allrich examined her and explained what she thought was going on. She was put on various medications and sent home. I really did not think my cat would be coming home to me, but she did. She is doing much better! Thank you!\r
I did read some of the other reviews on here. As far as it being messy, it wasn't the day I went. Maybe the day the other writer went there was a hairy dog or some explanation. The building is older and seems worn from years of animals, but I felt it was clean and updated. The staff was very nice, I was really worried about my cat, and the kept me calm and updated on her. The expenses seemed fairly reasonable for everything I needed for my precious Cassie. I will keep coming and recommend them.

I went to the Hendricks County Animal Hospital with my new dog to get her spayed and her first check ups. I had several issues, which I will outline below:

- First, they lost my appointment, when I got there they had no record of my appointment, when I am 100% sure I made it.

-Cleanliness- In my opinion an animal hospital is a professional office and it should be clean. Just look at the grout joints in the tile in the lobby. If they don't care enough to keep their office clean how do I know they are caring for my animal?

-Staff, some of their staff was very rude. When I picked my dog up the receptionist was very rude. When I asked to see the itemized list she acted like I was ridiculous. Also, she did not ever explain with detail how to care for my dog. I had to read through the paperwork. Also, when I asked about changing the chip she was VERY rude about this, and acted as if my spending over $200 was bothering her.

-Finally, I never met the vet, in my opinion I think I should have met with the vet to discuss my dog's situation and her well being. I never met a vet, which I thought was odd.

It is for these reasons I will now be looking for a new vet.

Dr. Katy Portwood is the best! She has a wonderful ""bedside manner"" and I know that she has my dog's best interests at heart. She has never tried to push unnecessary services on me and I appreciate that she is respectful of my financial limitations. Her assistants are knowledgeable and caring. I also like that Dr. Portwood is aware of her own limitations and would give me a referral if a situation arose that she was not comfortable dealing with--in short, she doesn't have the ""God complex"" that many other vets have. I would recommend Hendricks County Animal Hospital to anyone!

Disappointed
I do not recommend Hendricks County Animal Hospital. The Proprietors, which are also the head veteranarians are more interested in power and money than the care of domestic pets. They have contradicted each other on courses of action to be used on my dog. They seem to believe their knowledge is above and beyond anyone elses. I have received wrong diagnosis for an ongoing ailment as well as spent money that didn't need to be spent. And there front office staff never, I repeat NEVER relays my messages properly. It's been said that they only took on domestic pets, cats, dogs, rabbits, exotics etc, when they learned the revenues it would bring in. Everytime they get a good personable vet in the office, it's not long before that vet moves on to a new location. I am currently still using this office therefore I cannot disclose my ID. But I assure you once I have moved on, which will be soon I will be happy to disclose who I am. Thank you for reading my opinion.

Hendricks County Animal Hospital was recommended by a friend when we adopted our dog. They are great with our boy understanding the situation he came from they have taken the time to gain his trust and not rush with the exam or tests.
