John's Kitchen & Pub

For a small town in Independence, KS that doesn't have much, John's Kitchen and Pub is fabulous. They not only offer great smoked meats, they also offer live entertainment which doesn't cost anything. Our first visit to this great pub was such an experience. We were greeted by very friendly waiters/waitresses and served great smoked/bbq meats. Their napkins are cloth, not paper and the atmosphere in relaxed. Their prices range from $9 - $20. Generally for two of us we'll spend about $30. That includes meals, drinks and desserts.

There is usually a piano man playing and singing wonderful songs like Georgia. I highly recommend this place, especially if you love barbecue and live music.

John's Kitchen is a very nice restaurant. A little pricey for Independence but well worth it for out of towners. John and his wife are very welcoming and enjoy new comers. The food is great and worth going back to. It is not as popular as most other places in town but definitely one I enjoy.
