Once Upon A Child

The store has some good clothing, but it is a bit over priced. I have found better bargins on name brand designer clothing by shopping sales racks at the mall and frequenting TJ Maxx and Marshall's. I have been both a seller and a purchaser, but I have had terrible success with the selling. The staff is unfriendly, snooty and just plain rude. I know I had good stuff to sell, yet they paid very low prices on what they took, and rejected the rest. They made snotty comments in front of other customers about the unsavory items they could not accept. The staff makes you feel like you are an interference in their day. They act like it is a secret to look at the clothes brought in for re-sale. I even overheard one of them tell the others that 'this came from here'. In fact, it did. Unworn and unchanged in condition, so why was it not now acceptable? I would not waste time on this place. For all the time and effort it takes to make your clothes ready for them to paw through and wad up to give back, it would be a better use of time to have a garage sale or donate them to charity.

I have been a customer at this store for 9 years, and in my experience, it's a better place for buyers than for sellers. And I agree with some of the other folks who posted that the staff isn't very friendly (this has changed over the years ... in 1999, they were great). The last time I sold items there, I found the staff very secretive about what they were buying (they avoid letting you see what they are offering to purchase vs. what they are rejecting). Also, it took a long time, and both times I was there (once to drop off, and once to pick up), I heard another seller say, "I'm not sure you even looked at my stuff!" So depending on where you live, it's a big time commitment to prepare your clothes, drop them off and come back to get the small amount of money they offer for your items. I feel better about donating to charity, and depending on your tax bracket, it's also better financially. That said, there are some good deals to be had on certain clothing items, so I wouldn't write the place off entirely.

I found the staff to be unfriendly and the prices a little high. Better deals can be found at the department stores' sale racks and the merchandise is new! I will be sticking with the sale racks.

This store is great! They have newly remodeled with more merchandise than ever. Where else can you go to sell your kids clothes and pick up almost new name brand gear for less than retail mall prices? The new owners are more than ready to assist and will work tirelessly to take care of the customer

We all know that children out grow many of thier clothes often without wearing some of the outfits or only wearing them a few times. If you are looking to sell or buy clothes that fit into the above catagories then you will love this shop. The used clothes are clean and reasonalbly priced. They also sell a smaller selection of used kid's furniture and accessories. They are a top notch dealer.

The prices here are okay, but you do not get much for reselling. The furniture prices are all right. The staff here leaves much to be deisred as they often seem to busy talking with each other to want to help. I do like the play area for the children. It makes shopping a bit easier. I would shope elsewhere.

This place has the rudest employees I have ever seen.. When shopping there the people act as though its an inconvience to answer a question or help you in any way... Their clothes are great and prices on SOME things are ok but others you can buy for less at Target..

When my kids are done with their toys and they are still in good shape, I always take them here to resell. Not just toys, but furniture, clothes and more! They have always been very fair in the money they give back, and their prices on the items they sell are also very fair.

For 2nd hand shops this place is great. Also one of the only places that give you money right there for the clothes you bring in. No wait and see if it sells and then we pay you stuff. The prices are good and the people are always helpful and friendly. WIth the way kids grow, who wants to spend money on new when you can get the same things half price or alot less for something slightly used. Go in a look around.

I think the employees are confused - They may be under the impression that they are running some kind of high end boutique when, in fact, they are reselling used clothing. The prices on the items are way too high and don't even try to sell your own clothes there. It would be smarter to have a garage sale. Last time I was in 2 employees were rifiling through a customer's bin and laughing at her clothing. Very dissapointing customer service. On a postive note, they are GOOD buyers and you will find GOOD stuff here if you are willing to pay for it.

The quality of the merchandise for sale at this store is great. It is nice to go to a resale shop and not have to sort through racks and racks before finding something that is high-quality. The prices are reasonable, especially since most items are in like new condition. The price they pay though for gently used clothing is extremely low. I will continue to shop there but will sell my gently used clothes either on ebay or at garage sales.

They have great clothes,a lot of brand names but their prices are a little high.They also only buy clothes depending on season which makes it hard to sell to them.They have also refused clothing just because they are not a certain brand.Selection is great but I won't shop there much.

the clothing is cute! For once, the displays in a used clothing store has matching outfits. Everything is neat and tidy. However I do not like feeling like I am an intrusion to a sales persons time. I always thought they were paid to help me, not paid to stand around and gossip about their coworkers or boss or a customer who was just in.

I used to patronize this business but I will not to so again anytime soon. I still find myself tempted but I am reminded by my many previous bad experiences.
The staff seems put-out and bothered by the fact that yet again, another customer has walked in and interrupted them. When they are asked questions I get and overhear others ask question, we are given quirky and snippy answers. The female manager is the ring leader and sets the worst example for her staff to follow. It is appalling how bad the customer service is here.

Several years ago I purchased some items for my nieces here. However during a recent visit---I thought that items were priced a lot higher than they should be. People that live in the parts of town where the stores are---are not rich. Many of the prices seemed to be only slightly cheaper than buying new. After locating a better store---where prices seem to be more reasonable and staff more cheerful and helpful----I will not waste my time ever returning to any of their locations.

I have gone to Once Upon A Child many times to buy or sell clothing. They don't give you much money for what you sell to them. On top of that, I think most of their items are overpriced. And if that weren't enough, their workers are rude. I don't know how many times I have tried to get help or ask a quesiton or make a purchase and have had to wait and wait and wait while the cashiers were doing who knows what. I would stand at the register and look at them and they would look right past me as if they didn't see me. When I am buying over $100 in clothing, you'd better pay attention! Just my thoughts. I am SO not impressed. Thankfully, there is another gently used clothing store nearby that has wonderful customer service and pays better for your children's clothing.
