I take my 22 month old & 1-5 year old relatives 1-2 times/month. Sometimes, just to go feed the goats for 15 minutes & other times to spend 3-4 hours. The Halloween "Night of the Living Farm" event is a real treat for families. I was disappointed this year did not have the costume contest. Lots of games, flash light scavenger hunt, dancing stage, scary horse drawn ride (& another not scary), costume parade, etc. for about $8/person (1 & under free). The donation is so worth it b/c the daily entrance is free (donations welcome).
BIG FUN!!!

This is one of the absolute best entertainment attractions for families in the Kansas City area. With a petting zoo, hay rides, pony rides, fishing and mining for small children it is a entire day of fun for the whole family.

Deanne Rose Children's Farmstead is always free to get in to. They have several animals to go and feed/watch. They have added several new areas. They now offer a fishing lake, hayride, mining and pony rides, for a small fee. They have expanded their grounds and have added a new playground and a pioneer area where you can go into a real teepee and sit down for class in an old school building. They are expanding each and every year. You can also have a birthday party there. Super place to take the kids from March through October.

We take our kids there at least 1 time a year and that's for Halloween. It is open from spring through fall, but Halloween is always special there. They have a little petting zoo where the kids can pet and feed the animals, they offer waggon and hayrides, they have a vegetable garden and flower/butterfly garden, the kids can go inside an old schoolhouse (don't know how old but old) and they re-created an indian camp from the Kanza indians. For Halloween they always have a costume contest and the haunted barn is the best. really spooky! Best of all is the camp fire where the kids get to roast their own marshmellows. Great fun!!!

Deanna Rose farm is a favorite place for my kids to go! Since it's free we go all the time. They love to pet the animals! I love all the new attractions that they have added. When we go we don't stay all day - but it makes for a good morning activity! I wish they were open year round!

You can't beat this place for fun, education, animals and exploring and all for FREE! There are farm animals to look at and touch. Each year it grows and only becomes better. This place is almost too good to be true. We make several visits out there a month and the kids never get bored. Try to donate to keep it growing and show you appreciate it! Hooray for Deanna Rose!

PROS: Nice veggie & flower garden, farm animals and a park
CONS:

We love to visit the children's farm. Fun for everyone. Lots of animals to see and learn about. The kids can go fishing, do craft projects in the schoolhouse, mine for treasure, or just run and play. There are even picnic tables to eat at. And the best thing of all, it's FREE! :)

I think that Deanna Rose Farmstead is one of the best places to have a children's birthday party. The children can see and learn about all different kinds of animals. They can go on pony rides, fish and feed some of the animals. The party corrals are very cute. They have white picket fences surrounding the area so that your area is zoned off from the next party area. It looks excellent with the ballons and your childs name on the corral. The prices are reasonable for the activities. You can spend the whole day there and not spend very much money. If you choose to not rent a party corral, there are also plenty of picnic tables outside the entrance.

They are open during the coming days of summer and throughout summer. They have horses, chickens, goats, pigs, and little animals also. It is a wonderful place to take your family and have a great time. You are allowed to feed the animals and they have a wagon ride that is available. Even though the animals are few, it is not exactly a large zoo, just a place for people to be with their family and enjoy the outdoors for a little bit. They also have a small park with a pond where the geese and ducks fly in and out.
