Half Price Books

I have bought and sold books at this Half Priced Books store and I have always had a very pleasant experience. When I choose to sell to them, instead of listing my items for sale individually online, I am choosing to save time. It is wonderful to go there with a bag of books taking up shelf space and leave with a few bucks.

I really love this store's collection of kids books. As my children get grow, they always have good books that meet their interests.

I did like the store and I did buy books there once. The last time I shopped there I spent $100.00 for about 10 books. Of course, some of them were very old cookbooks that were tattered and torn and most people would throw in the recycle bin. I brought in a tote bag full of brand new, excellent condition books .The bag was so heavy I had a hard time carrying it. I would say about 30 books, some hard back, with an average price between 15-30 dollars new. They were all books that came out within the last five years. I was offered 11.00. I about died. I should have donated them to a charity for 11.00. They had to be paying quarters for these books. I could have sold them for 1 dollar a piece at a garage sale and made more than double that. Then, they won't tell you what they are paying for each book, but it is a lot price. They then turn around and charge half price on the books. I am no mathematician, but that is some markup. I am looking for another store to sell my books to currently. I really like the store, but I can't get past the feeling of getting ripped off. I brought in 30 great books, got 11.00, I buy 10 old and tattered books, it costs me 100.00. I am all about free market capitalism. I don't however support businesses that I feel are taking advantage of people and making massive profits doing so. This business creates nothing, it buys and sells things other people make. Not only was there a middleman in the first transaction from writer to bookstore to buyer, then there is another middleman from the resale book to buyer. What a racket. Remember when you pick up that bargain book for half price and you are so excited about it, they paid someone a quarter for it. I would feel bad about that. Maybe it's just me.

What a great place for book lovers. They primarily stock used books but they also have some new books. They have calendars, cards, journals, CDs, vinyls, DVDs, comics, games and acitivities for children, and lots of books for adults and children. Great prices and they even run sales. They are constantly receiving books that are brought in by customers. So each time you go in the store there is different merchandise.

This is the place for those of us who love to read, but don't like paying full price on books. I came to this store looking for a certain title I had been searching for and was pleasantly surprised at the selection they carry here. I really liked the fact that they even have a good selection of kids books to choose from. They even carry a decent selection of dvd's and cd's.

This store is a great concept, you can especially find childrens books for a good price. They also have a nice collection of CDs and DVDs. The staff is friendly and helpful. The store has books organized very well. I only wish they had even more of a selection. But really, the selection is quite good.

The Half Price Bookstore has a great selection of books for the right price. I am a book worm so I am always looking for something new to read and they have enough books to keep me in business for the rest of my life. Their employees are friendly and very helpful. I would recommend everyone check out this store.
