The local YMCA is a great place to get a workout without an enormous price tag and long term contract. I think that this is the best deal in fitness in the area.

I liked going to the Y, but felt a little uncomfortable. I haven't worked out in quite a while, and was unsure of how to use some machines. But they showed me how. Everyone was friendly, even the other people working out there. I think my favorite was the free childcare and the pilates classes.

PROS: family friendly and free childcare
CONS: childcare hours

Although the outside of the Prairie Village YMCA may look outdated, inside everything is clean and up to date. The desk staff is friendly and helpful and the locker rooms are bright and clean. Plenty of convenient parking, too.
