5 Stars: What Kentucky is all about (by betty b.)

It's not just the Derby that makes this place so great. You can't think about Kentucky without thinking about horse racing. Anyone with a passing interest would love this place. The Derby Museum never disappoints. You see it all from the jockeys, to the trainers and those who care for the horses, to the horses themselves. I recommend going on a tour of the place as well. If you have a desire to bet, you can do that too. It's always a great place to see a race, betting or not and during the derby or not.

5 Stars: Home of the Kentucky Derby (by Kimberly B.)

You can't miss the Kentucky Derby. Buy tickets from the Churchill Downs website well in advance. Parking is very difficult so get there early. There are also other great races to watch at this track.

5 Stars: Churchill Downs is a blast! (by TL C.)

Churchill Downs is a blast! Even when it's not Derby time. The horse races are exciting, especially when you win. The kids even like going there. There's a playground, the Junior Jockey Club, and they always love to see the horses. At the Junior Jockey Club, children can participate in fun horse racing related activities.

4 Stars: Have fun at the races. (by Judy W.)

I like going to Churchill Downs and watching the horse races. We usually go a few times during the year. This is a fun place to go. We always go into the club house, and usually pay a bit more and go up to the third or fifth floor. On the fifth floor you can see the horses run around the entire track. This floor has you sitting inside, but there is a small area where you can step outside. Expect to spend a lot of money at this place. You pay to get in, for a program, to make bets, and for the food. Food is pretty expensive. On occasion, they have special days where hot dogs and drinks are only a dollar. The restrooms on the first floor are not that nice, they are dark and dirty. The restrooms on the third and fifth floors are nice, and have hair spray, body spray, and candy sitting by the sinks. I only wish the smoking ban had been applied here, yes you can still smoke here. There are some non-smoking areas inside, but you still have to put up with some idiot smoking outside. Parking is now free.

5 Stars: Great race day excitement! (by Sharon W.)

We visited Churchill Downs on a regular race day and were really impressed with how easy it was to get around. I know that on Derby Weekend it is quite busy but when we went the crowd was very manageable even with 2 toddlers. The staff was very helpful and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our visit. We were able to sit in seats right on the racing fence where we could experience the races firsthand. It was very cheap to get in and enjoy a full day of racing.

5 Stars: Very enjoyable (by Hazel H.)

The museum is wonderful. There is a huge 360 degree theater that shows a day in the races. The museum has many exhibits that show different aspects of racing. The experience of being at a live race is incredible. Well worth the day.

5 Stars: Churchill Downs (by Matt G.)

CHURCHILL DOWNS IS A MUST SEE IN LOUISVILLE. EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE GAMBLING, THE GROUNDS ARE FANTASTIC AND THE MUSEUM IS VERY INTERESTING. THE RECENT RENOVATIONS MAKE IT EASIER TO BET AND UNDERSTAND PARAMUTUAL BETTING. VISIT THE PADDOCK AREA AND WATCH THE HORSES BEING MOUNTED BEFORE THE RACES RUN. CHECK OUT THE HISTORIC TWIN SPIRES. GO TO THEIR WEBSITE AND VIEW THE CALENDAR OF EVENTS...MANY TIMES THERE ARE SPECIAL EVENTS GOING ON, FROM GIVEAWAYS TO LIVE LOCAL AND NATIONAL BANDS IN THE INFIELD. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO SPEND THE DAY.
