Love this Vet Clinic!
I grew up in the country and was used to wonderful vet care. After college, I adopted a cat who was pregnant, I went through a few vet clinics before ending up at Henry Fairleigh's in St. Matthews. Dr. Fairleigh and Dr. Mike Brockman were reasonably priced and I had fantastic service, I wish I could say the same about the rest. I stayed with the clinic when Mike took ownership and Dr. Fairleigh retired. Continued to love it! I have even convinced family and friends to change clinics, who thank me after their switch. It is that good.
Since then, the clinic continues with great care. Mike has taken in three partners who bring the same professional and personal commitment: Dr. Linda Gries, Dr. Gary Edlin, and Dr. Richard Myers. They each have helped me in the long term care of three cats at 18 years each, their cancers, and their final days. They have also extended the same care to a golden retriever puppy who should have died from Parvo, (Thanks, Dr. Linda Gries, and Frank, especially), and now is approaching ten years old.
This place is not shiny and new, but VERY clean, and home-like. I have seen the same wonderful office staff and techs over the years and we know they do not stay because of the pay--This says much about a place of business when staff are that good, and happy! If you want a place for the long term health of your pet, this is the place.

Wonderful Care
by Elizabeth L.
I highly recommend this animal hospital. I have had 3 pets, 2 Brussels Griffon and 1 domestic short-haired tabby treated there over the past 7 years. The doctors and staff are capable, friendly and love animals. I don't think there could be two better vets than Drs. Meyers and Brockman. E LeSueur

From an employee's point of view...
by Michele C.
I worked at East Louisville Animal Hospital for 13 years. I was hired by Henry Fairleigh and worked for him alongside Michael Brockman until Dr. Brockman bought the practice. I had some experience, but had a lot to learn. Dr. Brockman was very patient with me at all times, as well as with everyone else. When he bought the practice, myself, as well as Teresa (Head Receptionist) were excited and proud of him. We worked to make it the best hospital we could. He began to grow the practice and soon took on a partner. We grew more. He would eventually take on 2 more veterinarians; Dr. Rick Myers and Dr. Linda Gries. These doctors, along with the wonderful staff we somehow managed to acquire, made East Louisville into one of the most respected and sought-out Animal Hospitals in the Louisville and the surrounding area. I have since moved to Florida, and each time I walk into an Animal Hospital here or anywhere, I am reminded how lucky and grateful I am to have worked with such terrific people. They made you feel like a friend as well as an employee, and they extended that hospitality to their clients, and still do today. I miss Doc, he taught me a lot, and never gave up on me. I also miss my fellow employees, they are a great bunch of people to spend your 10- hour workday with. They are all exceptional people, giving 110%, 24/7; because they have what it takes to make it in this field: Compassion. Hat's off to you guys !!!

10+ years with East Louisville now driving from Cincinnati
by Rachel C.
Last Year I moved to Cincinnati and in February my dog fractured his leg. I took him to an animal hospital here and was told he had a month to live, needed to be put to sleep, amputate his leg, Chemotherapy and do bone testing. Devastated the following day I called East Louisville and told them what was going on. I was told with the greatest amount of compassion that everything was going to be alright and not to worry until Dr. Brockman saw him. I took Lucky in that week Dr. Brockman felt there was no reason to believe he had cancer and sent his x-rays to a specialist. Everyone in the office was concerned and checked on us, the other vets even looked at the x-rays and were willing to help. They accommodated my schedule because of the drive and my job for every appointment over the next few months. Over the year with many animals East Louisville has ALWAYS shown the greatest compassion and best care. My 14 year old cat has also been a patient and with the cat food they put her on avoided Kidney failure. I have yet to find a vet in Louisville or Cincinnati that can match the quality care found at East Louisville Animal Hospital. Some people have said there prices are a little more but you save in that they never recommend unnecessary medications or treatments. Lucky did not have cancer or need any test or treatment..just the splint. My family has had at least fifteen pets over the years in their care and not one complaint from a family of six!

I haven't taken a pet to this veterinary practice yet, but I will. I went in looking for prescription pet food for my dog since my own vet was a 1/2 hour away. The receptionist was friendly, the waiting area clean and the prices of their food were reasonable. I will consider taking any new pets I have here but the ones I have are already use to going to Shively Animal Clinic.
PROS: Clean waiting area, helpful, frienly staff
CONS: none!

I felt like lets make a deal when I took my dog in for care. They kept coming in with a low and high bid. Three different times, each significantly higher than the last. It's like they were bidding to see how much my baby was worth to me. They use scare tactics and play on emotions to get you to pay outrageous prices. They wanted to charge me 175 for tests my regular vet charge 50 for. 203 dollars for a blood transfusion which usually costs 50.
