I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is always great and the atmosphere is always lively!

Best place for dinner. But, I have recently discovered that Avalon actually has a nice, classy bar clientele. Not the rif raf one finds even at some of the so called nicer places in Louisiville. Very nice friendly staff; and not a bad place to meet some of Louisville's most attractive and eligible bachelors and bachelorettes. And I am not talking about the kids. But Ppople our age, ya know 29 and HOLDING! Of course I am only interested in the Bachelors. but not bad either way.

Pros: Great happy hour prices in a classy atmosphere. One wouldn't think the combination of the two were possible

Cons: The bar can get crowded early, especially on Friday's. Recommend getting there right after work on Friday, beat the rush.

Avalon is a great dining experience.The food and service is always consistant.Their menu changes so some times I can't get what I had last time I was there.The location is in the hottest part of Louisville's Highlands.Great happy hour and shopping close by.

I have been to Avalon numerous times, and it is hands down some of the best food I have ever had in Louisville. First you get to pick from a varitey of appetizers, which are all amazing (hummus is my favorite). Then you move on to the salads which are so light and delicous and they are different from anything else I have ever had. There is a wide range of entrees to choose from, including vegetarian dishes which is a plus for me. The atmosphere is idylic, espeically if you happen to go when the weather is nice, and are able to take advantage of the gorgeous patio. The staff is incredibly friendly, and there is always a fun crowd. Not to mention the location, its absolutley perfect, right in the heart of Bardstown road, and if your lucky walk next door into Luna, if its open, and check out the cutest things they have in there. I have gotten a couple pieces of jewelry, and I always get compliments. Overral, the Avalon experience is quite inticing, that is probably why I always keep going back!

Pros: food, service, atmosphere, and great people watching

If you feel a need to ostentaciously throw your money away then Avalon is the place for you -- where high prices disguise the general lack of creativity. For people who don't know any better. Seriously, I think the chef just adds truffles when he's at a loss for a new way to prepare something. What does it tell you when Macaroni and Cheese is the best appetizer on the menu? Oh, but you'll be seen on the patio drinking a $9 martini, and being seen is what drives this place.

This place is great if you are all about enjoying traditional American flavors without all the snazzy garnish and uptight service. The staff was extremely friendly, and the food quality and flavor combinations exceeded my expectations. It's high class food with a down to earth style and presentation.
