I am a white woman that goes to Holiday house every now and then and i have found it to be a very nice place to stop. Don't expect that you will converse with the clerks, if you are having a bad day call a friend for god's sake. Don't take it out on the nice guys at the liquor store!

Perhaps they don't have disdain for the white majority, maybe they just have reservations about an angry white guy buying beer in the middle of the day and striking up overly friendly conversation. You were thinking of a therapist (best case) or a bartender (at minimum); there's no protocol in our "white majority" society for your local liquor slinger to listen to your whining, so go bury your sorrows in that beer you bought.
And if you still need to buy one--stop at Holiday House! GREAT location and the best hours in the city for the discriminating alcoholic! When you hear "last call" in the Greater Cincinnati area and decide on the fly that that chick ain't drunk enough yet, Holiday House will be there and open for you!

I stop at Holiday House regularly and the people who work there are very, very friendly. There are a couple who do not speak very good English (the others do). It is hard to engage them in conversation because of this.
Most of them have worked there for years. It is incredibly offensive to me to see any connection made between their gabbiness and 9/11. My God, where did that come from? It is scary to me that people like you with those kinds of ideas exist in this country.
By the way, they are not "Middle Eastern," they are Indian.

I live 2 blocks away from Holiday Liquor, and stop in about once a month. They are never friendly, if they speak at all, I have never made a connection between folks and 9/11 but i tell you what, the people that work at Holiday and own it obviously hate us, the white majority. My best friend died and I stopped for beer on the way home from the funeral and really wanted to hear a nice voice, I made a point of being overly friendly-just to hear a nice word. I put my beer up on the counter and said "hi, how are you doing?", no response; he did not tell me what i owed, instead made me look at the register for the total, I gave him my credit card with a "here you go", while he ran the card I said, "so how are you today?" No answer, he wouldn't even look at me. After the day I had, I actually started to cry because of the arrogance of the ass behind the counter...he could have cared less-I now think that making the little American Woman cry probably made his day. I left without a single word spoken between us, but he found something very funny to say to his counter partner (in a language I had never heard) as I walked out crying. I have never, in all the years since 9/11 thought that any foreigner was associated with the events of that day, but if ever there were people that hated us, it is the people of the Holiday House Liquor Store.
