We bought a house from out of state with John Scott Durbin. He led us right to the perfect house in one day and helped us line up excellent inspectors and a helpful mortage broker for the complicated loan we needed quickly. When it turned out the house needed a fair amount of work, he hooked us up with a reliable contractor for an estimate and a landscaper. Throughout the whole process, he was responsive and gave good advice on how to negotiate at each step. We also liked that he was sensitive to the expectations of the seller so as to deal honorably with them. In short, he gave us everything we needed to make the entire process very smooth and as stress-free as possible. He even took time to help us find a home for our horse!

When we moved to Lexington, KY in 2006 we purchased a home through, MaryAnn Morris of ReMax that was listed by Donna Williams, of Rector-Hayden. We had an issue with the seller replacing a higher-end dishwasher with an economy model after we purchased the property and without our knowledge. We noticed the lower quality dishwasher during the walk through prior to closing (apparently the other dishwasher had broken). We would have expected the owners to replace the dishwasher with a comparable model and planned to discuss the issue at closing. However, with the assistance of our realtor, Mary Ann, the issue was resolved between the two realtors to our satisfaction.

When we originally moved to Lexington, we used Rector Hayden to help us find a house. Because we were moving from out of state and in a hurry, we both felt our agent was showing us properties that needed to be moved. We were not given a final walkthrough and had to sign off on the inspection form (there was supposed to be a roof repair but it was done wrong) without seeing the work or a receipt. After closing, when we discovered the shoddy work that was not in line with what we agreed to, our agent did nothing to help us resolve the matter. Rector Hayden seems to be a volume agency, and doesn't care about legalities or its clients.

My husband and I used Rector Hayden for the purchase of our Ball Home a couple of years ago. While our realtor was professional and handled the sale efficiently, the personal service was lacking. After our closing, every piece of correspondence we received from her was "personalized" with the wrong names!
PROS: Efficient and professional
