The strand is the most beautiful, luxurious theater I've ever been to. It feels like you are back in time before movie theaters. The seats are plush and comfortable. You can see the stage from the floor or balcony. The sound is wonderful No matter what I go here to see, the experience is always great and I feel like I've been in history.

The Strand opened its doors in July 1925 to rave reviews. Hailed as "The Grandest Theatre" in the south, it's continued a long standing tradition of bringing the hottest shows to town. In the 1950's the Strand was host to the movie premier of John wayne's hit "The Horse Soldier." Today it's as successful as ever with local theatre troops performing throughout the year, as well as hosting traveling shows. Located on Louisiana Avenue, the Strand is off Clyde Fant parkway and near the city's casino district. The beautiful building is on the Nationa Historic Register and is a favorite spot for photographers

PROS: Beautiful antiquated building and great shows
CONS: Parking is minimal
