When my husband and I first moved to New Orleans, the closest grocery store to where we were living was the A&P on Magazine. I was not happy. The store was not dirty, but disheveled certainly, they only had room for a certain number of staples, and the prices were higher than I had expected. And I knew immediately that I could not make this my regular grocery store, no matter how close it was. A&P does have good points - despite their size, they do maintain a decent selection of specialty items and vegetarian items. They do carry a basic selection of almost everything one needs, and the prices aren't all that bad - plus your Sav-a-Center card works here too. But it won't be your regular grocery store if you have a choice.
PROS: Maintains their limited inventory fairly well; good prices on seafood
CONS: See title line
