All,
I wanted to share with you what the wonderful people at Pet Paradise did recently during the evacuation during Hurricane Gustav. During this mandatory evacuation, I was out of the country and could not return to pick up my Bichon - Jezibelle. The staff rented air-conditioned vans and transported the more than 40 pets that remained at Pet Paradise to safety at their facility in Houston. After power was restored in New Orleans, they brought Jezibelle back to me in New Orleans where I picked her up. I was prepared to pay when they informed me that there was no charge! They said that during mandatory evacuations they board pets for free. I read where they have boarded almost 200 pets in Houston during Ike for free under this same program.
The people of Pet Paradise are some of the most caring and generous people in the industry. I am forever grateful to the compassion and care they showed me and my little girl Jezi.
They say that your true colors come out in a crisis situation. I would say that Pet Paradise is a class act and a good New Orleans neighbor and citizen. Thank you Pet Paradise!
Pros: People, People, People
Cons: None
I left my Bichon there for a week and felt very comfortable with leaving him there. When I dropped him off, they asked if I wanted to have him bathed. I didn't agree to this. When I picked him up after a week, he reaked of some awful smell (probably urine and feces) and didn't look like my dog. His paws and snout was soaking wet and his bedding had black hair on it obviously from another dog. I was disgusted. I paid $90 for them to "play" with my dog and I seriously doubt that they did. He looked and smelled awful. I'll definitely find some place else to send him next time.
They are the fast food of pet boarding. They work off of quantity not quality. They overcharge for everything. They try to sugar coat what they offer. Truth is, they turned a dump into a glorified dump. After the dogs swim in their "bone shaped pool" they put the dogs back in their air conditioned compartments still wet. The dogs get sick because of it. They let all different kinds of dogs out together, and dog fights have occurred as a result of it. My friends dog had to have part of her ear removed because it had gotten shredded fighting over a chew bone there. We left our two Labs there for 5 days and was charged $400.00. They were given specific instructions not to let them swim. (Thet really push the extras.) They disregarded our instructions and let them in the pool. The dogs had to go to the Vet because of ear infections. Then they wanted to charge us for pool time. They are greedy people strictly in it for the money. We know better than to go there now. I hope this information helps others.
Pros: Near the Airport
Cons: Over priced, limited hours, quantity not quality
