Wonderful, Bravo. One of the best kept secrets in the states. When in New Orleans, this is the place to stay. It is beautiful, elegant and well maintained.

Best Location In The Quarter!  5 Star Rating - World class

By Lisa M. | insider Insider | Rank: 24,615

My family stayed at the Place DArmes in early August of 2003 during Satchmo Summer Fest. I had been hearing great things about this hotel for a long time and was eager to experience it for myself.

I booked the hotel thru the Satchmo Summer Festival website. I got an incredible rate of $79/night for weeknights and $99/night for Friday and Saturday. We stayed Wednesday-Tuesday. I requested an exterior room as had been suggested. Interior rooms are windowless.

We arrived around 11:00 am and as expected our rooms were not yet ready. We left our bags with the bellman and went for lunch and the aquarium. We returned around 3:00 and were able to check in. Our room was on the third floor of the back building. As the bellman led us thru the courtyard, I knew right then and there we had made the right decision to stay there, it just FELT like New Orleans.

In order to enter the rooms, you must pass thru the courtyard which is only accessible thru the hotel lobby. Very secure. There is parking available to hotel guests as well. We didnt have a car with us so we didnt utilize the garage. There are 7 separate buildings that make up this hotel. Some of them have very interesting histories, and have plaques to explain their origin. Rumor has it the hotel is haunted as well!

The building we were in was accessible by elevator and stairs. Our room was the first room right off the elevator. We had a shared balcony overlooking the courtyard. It was just incredibly beautiful. Very lush, with brick walkways, fountains, several seating areas. The pool is a nice size with a few tables and some lounge chairs around it. Very refreshing to take an afternoon swim as the weather was extremely hot and humid in August.

Off to one side of the pool is the Breakfast room. Continental breakfast is included in your stay here. They provided juice, coffee, several different Danishes every morning. The croissants and cinnamon buns were very fresh and delicious.

Our room was huge! Very high ceilings,

PROS: Perfect Location, charming, clean
CONS: none
