HORRIFIC!!!

by charles l.

I will never order anything from Baum's again. I recently wasted $40 on a 1/4 sheet cake that looked like it was decorated by a 3 year old. I sent the cake back twice and it still looked horrible. I had to purchase the cake because I needed it for the next morning. The staff acted like they could care less and the manager was rude. They ruined my event and it is the last time they will get a penny from me!!! Buyer beware!

Too good to pass up

by Anonymous

I've grown up in BR with Baum's and there is no place like it. Selection is unbelievable! Seasonal items, a real treat. Always making new items so it's nice to stop in often. My favorites are their white almond cake and buttercream icing and no one makes petite fours like Baum's! Their candy is a good selection but they just added GELATO! If you've ever been to Italy -- you need to go here and try theirs.

Good pastries. Thes best petit fours around. LSU cakes are the best. Good service. Prices are reasonable. Yummy deserts. They have good seasonable deserts and cookes. Can do just about anything you want!

Aggravated

by Sanchez J.

I went inside the store to price a 2 tier cake for my baby shower. the young lady was real nice and helpful. She told me that ordering my cake a week before the event was fine and that I had the option to pay now or when I came to pick up the cake. Since they gave me the best price quote in Baton Rouge, I knew I would use Baum. I told her that I would return on Monday with a color photo to place my order. When I returned- an older lady told me that I HAD to pay up front for my cake and that I would have to pay a 10% fee because I didn't order my cake 2 weeks in advanced!! I was not given ANY of this information when I spoke to the first young lady JUST 3 days earlier. The older lady asked me if I knew who I sopke with- WHO writes the name of the cake orderer!! It's just a cake. I'm tempted to take my money & my business elsewhere.

Not worth it

by Anon Y.

Heard a lot about Baum's. As a treat, I stopped off and got some cookies and an assortment of cakes for myself and my visiting family. The cookies were only "ok" and the cake made my mother and myself sick (don't ask)! Wouldn't try here again.

PROS: Clean, helpful staff
CONS: Long wait, but I was the only one there! Cake made guests sick!

Good but not too good

by Arun N. | insider Insider | Rank: 19,095

Baums is tucked away in a corner on perkins and is very easily missed when driving by. The shop is spacious and serves a lot more items than the more popular and crowded Ambrosia. However other than a few speciality items, there is really not much to recommend this place over Ambrosia. The cakes they make are pretty tasty and if for some reason you cant get one ordered in time at Ambrosia, Baums is your choice.

Baum's is a Baton Rouge Confectionery Institution

by MR J. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,772

Baum's has a wide variety of wonderful cakes, cookies, pies, and candies. The white almond cake and buttercream icing is the absolute best. They also offer Dobache cakes in chocolate, lemon, or strawberry which are the best cakes in the world. Family owned and operated for 71 years.
