We ate there last night. We ordered eight pounds of $3.99/lb boiled crawfish. They came out looking more gray than red (just scalded maybe and not boiled???) and even tasted more scalded than boiled. SUCH A LET DOWN!!! They had lots of pepper but NO salt. Also ordered a burger, spaghetti & sauce, and mashed potatoes for the kids. Burger was a frozen patty but my grandbaby was happy with it. Spaghetti and sauce was best thing we ordered! Mashed potatoes were the texture of a softball and my fork actually would bounce off if pressure was not applied! LOL. Gravy definitely came from a package!!!!I was looking forward to eating here for the first time, but after paying $70 (including tip), I will never EVER be returning to this place EVER. It was so noisy that the waitress kept asking us "what?" when we placed our order. I will gladly eat my boiled crawfish at Jaeger's next week!!!! QV is disgusting, has poor service, high prices, etc. Don't waste your money...if you are simply hungry and need food, go to McDonald's next door :)

I eat at QV [at least] twice a month and, sure, I could find something to complain about at nearly every restaurant in town. Since this is an overall review, I will sum up my opinion; You cannot beat the overall dining experince. The portions are huge. We usually go with a party of 5 or 6, and everyone brings home enough for another meal, if not more. I go back and forth between the ravioli and the "Little Stevies combo platter" where I get 3 large catfish filets covered by a mountain of shrimp with baked macaroni on the side. My wife get either the veal or lobster. The lobsters only drawback is that there's no leftovers (unless you can't finish your boiled potato's and corn-on-the-cob). Mother-in-law gets the pork chops and father-in-law gets the trout. You have to watch the bill because if there's 5 or more they add 18% gratuities, so you don't accidentally tip them twice. Last night 5 of us ate for $100 before the tip was added. The only thing I got turned off by was that I ordered a mixed drink in a tall glass and they charged me $7 for a double. Yeah, it was strong, but I don't like it that strong, hence the reason I get it in a tall glass. Other places have done the same thing, but some places will ask you if you want a double ... I'm just saying. Oh, yeah, it is noisy. The walls are bare (except for the lifesize mural of the French Quarter, and that's where it gets the name "Quarter View") and the ceiling is high, so the noise just bounces around forever.

3/29/11 Family of 3 waited almost 10 minutes for our order to be taken or to even be acknowledged by a server. We ordered chees stick for an appitizer and two of the entrees came with a dinner salad. The caesar dressing on the salad was tart and the marinara sauce was bland but very chunky. I ordered the shrimp vardo (?) and my husband ordered the veal something or other, the kid had chicken tenders. The shrimp stuff had so much green stuff and cheese I couldn't eat it. I actually told the server and showed her some of the hard things that came out of the sauce and she appologized for me not liking it. She said she asked the chef what was in it and he told her celery. Really?? celery turns to mush when cooked... Anyway, my husband didn't like his meal, he ate the veal and left the rest f the congealed pasta and the kid ate half a chicken tender.
I did complain, no one from management came out and nothing was done about it and I did did pay full price. I did leave a decent tip as the waitress was decent after the inital wait.
It had been a couple of years since the last visit...I will not go back...

We went to the Quarter View last night (12/30/10) and even though it was packed, we were seated right away. The first thing we noticed was that it was VERY loud and very cold, but it's NO, so loud is not a bad thing.

We tried QV because their lighted marquee-type sign said lobster $12.95. On the way in, we made sure that we saw other banner-type signs stating that they had lobster for $12.95 on Thursday nights. Excellent!

When our server came over, my son asked about the lobster and she said it was a whole lobster which had crab stuffing. Again, excellent! My son and daughter both ordered the lobster. My daughter-in-law ordered trout and I ordered chicken parmesan (and yes, that's how it was spelled). My parmesan came with only salad, which was fine...except the salad didn't come.

Our hushpuppies appetizer came quickly and our drinks were kept refilled, which was a very good thing since it took at least an hour for our entrees to come. The table next to us had just ordered when we were seated. They got their order, ate, had the table cleared, and complained about their bill before our food came out.

Yay! Our food finally came out. The chicken parmesan and trout were excellent, but I still didn't have my salad and had to ask for it again and had to ask for bread. My son never likes to complain, so he insisted his was good but my daughter HATED her lobster. There were a lot of shell pieces in the crab stuffing and she finally gave up and scraped that out to get to the lobster. It was very obviously overcooked, looking as if it had been cooked ahead of time...with the meat being very tough and leathery. We didn't say anything to the server (our fault) because my kids really hate to complain because they were servers themselves for years during high school and college.

Not a great experience, but not the worst ever at this point. Then the check came. My son gave the server his card and didn't even look at the bill until she had walked away. We were SHOCKED when we saw the bill! They had been charged $49.99 for the 2 lobsters, even though the sign said $12.95 each. (The menu had no price listed.) $24 extra added quite a bit to the bill since it was $24 extra for the lobsters, $5 extra for the tip (we always leave at least 20%), plus the additional tax. We had expected the check to be around $85-$90 total and it ended up being $120.

When we asked our server about the price difference, she said they were "out" of the lobster that was $12.95. I assumed that she meant they'd run out that night, but she went on to say that "he'" (the owner, I assume, but in someone else's comment a woman claimed to be the owner) had been closed for about 5 days and had not ordered anymore of the $12.95 lobsters. I pointed out, still nicely, that the lighted sign still said $12.95 and she said she thought it was too much trouble for the sign to be changed....but she would "mention it to the owner." If you happen to run out that night, fine. When you clearly KNOW you don't have something (and haven't had it all week), don't advertise it so blatantly and then mention the lobster first thing to customers without saying there is a price change!

Summed up:
1. Seating time was excellent, but wait time for food was awful.
2. Half the food was good and half was awful.
3. Marquee and sign are apparently lies to get you to order lobster....bait and switch?
4. Bill was way too high for the quality of the food!
5. Take a sweater, it's cold!
6. The sweet tea is excellent.

Quarter View is absolutely my favorite restaurant!!! These bad reviews are shocking. I will admit the boiled crawfish are not very tasty but the regular food menu is delicious! The servers are usually friendly and make you feel right at home. The stuffing they use for all seafood seems like it is made from scratch and the steak is sooooo tender! Very fresh seafood platters. I am shocked to see so many bad reviews. With a party larger than 6, I am sure ANY restaurant would not have 100% efficient service.

Quarter view is disgusting. The service is always horrible. The crawfish are reused from week to week when he does 99 cent promos. They have roaches, and the stuffed trout is not even trout. That should be against the law for Quarter View to not sel what they are offering. The veal is not veal. I am surprised the place is still open.

I had been to this restaurant several times over the past few years and the food was always supurb. We decided to go for my mother-in-laws birthday 11-15-08. The food was tasteless. I have never had this bad of a meal at any restaurant I have ever been to. The grilled shrimp were so gummy my daughter could'nt even eat them. The grilled oysters were so salty it was awful. My soft shell crab had no seasoning or taste. My mother in law who rarely complains said her stuffed crab platter was tasteless. I paid $78.00 for a meal for three that nobody enjoyed. I went to New Orleans Hamburger the next day pain $39.00 and we all had a much better meal. I
don't intend to revisit Quarter View Ever again. It was a waste of good money. Maybe they should taste their seafood before they serve it to their customers. Go to Drago's the food is worth the money at that establishment.

Last night, 11/14/08, my family, a group of 19 people went to Quarterview Restaurant for dinner. We were told that the wait was 20 minutes (turned into an hour). The food was average and toward the end of the meal, a waitress (not ours) spilled several plates of ketchup and mayonnaise on my sister's lap and a moderate amount on the sleeve of her workshirt as she passed our table. Granted, the waitress was apologetic and brought club soda ot the table to help. To sum it all up, the stain didn't come out of her work shirt and we asked to speak with the manager. The woman (claims she was the owner) started speaking calmly to my sister and told her to "go home and put Shout on it. What do you want me to do give you about $5!" We asked to speak to the owner and she she pointed to herself and stated loudly, "I'm it!!!! It stops right here with me!!" At this point the whole restaurant is looking. My mother says, "This is insulting, we come here a lot," and before she could finish, the "manager/owner" says, "Well maybe you shouldn't come back!!!" Those were words that we as a family took to heart and we will definitely not be returning there and will be certain to spread the word to others.

Our waitress (Lindsey) was too busy socializing with other patrons and drinking a Smoothie behind the bar to wait on us. We had to ask for our drinks, an appetizer, and even part of the meal we ordered.

After requesting another glass of water, a fly was found in my straw. When I brought this to the mangers attention she became argumentative, made excuses, and even laughed.

My wife and I ordered 10 lbs of crawfish, they looked great but it was soon apparent they had been boiled hours before they served them. They were extremely dry and over cooked. Many were cold and at least 5 had gone bad to the point they initiated my gag reflex. We had high hopes when we saw the ambiance and experienced the service yet were disappointed with the preparation and quality of food. On a side note the menu is extensive and varied for all tastes.

We just tried the Quarter View for the first time and it was great ! We started out with the Eggplant Sticks and Onion Rings and both were wonderful. Loved the batter on the Onion Rings and they were fried perfectly. We had the Stuffed Trout and it was amazing, the sauce was seasoned just right and there was loads of crabmeat. Good Baked Macaroni and Homemade Potato Salad. Great Value ! Huge portions of tasty food at very reasonable prices. Nicole was our server and she was friendly, attentive and knoweledgeable about the menu. We will be taking all of our visitors there for the taste and feel of the French Quarter without the gouging.

I've been there twice at about 8 months interval. I'm from Virginia and have come to N.O. on mission trips. Quarter View was recommended by an elevator repairman at the Salvation Army HQ where we were staying. Is that a good recommendation? I'll say it is. He said it was down home and real New Orleans food. I'll say it was friendly, a little raucous, and fabulous. If you are not local, don't pass up the fried pickles. Sounds strange, tastes great. WARNING! The servings are huge. The Captains Platter should feed three, though don't go trying to take any of mine. Parking is a challenge but worth braving.

I visited Quarter view on April 7, 2006 and ordered the stuffed trout. Upon receiving my food, the fish was not trout and in addition to being stuffed with crab meat it was also stuffed with paper. When I informed the waitress, she offered to bring me something else, so I ordered the stuffed crabs. Upon receiving the stuffed crabs, the crabmeat was spoiled. I informed the manager, and her response was, "we've been serving this dish all night and no one else has complained," I feel that ther response was totally unacceptable. I've visited the restaurant in the past so I know the food was spoiled.

PROS:
CONS: Poor managerial skills

They are very slow, the wait to be seated can take up to 45 minutes. Parking is a pain and near by businesses will tow if you park in their lots. I have also seen a roach on the floor during lunchtime. The food is good and cheap though.

This place is a great place to take out-of-town guests- it's New Orleans style food is true to it's name, not just pepper and cayenne sauce these guys know how to season to perfection. Their portions are HUGE and their prices are low! They tend to be a bit slow- don't go on your lunch hour or if you're on a tight schedule and they are usually crowded during peak hours. Parking is the biggest problem because there are maybe 10 parking spaces in the lot.

Food excellent. Menu has lots of varied selections. It is hard to make a selection. Food portions are huge. Price is reasonable. Waiting to be seated so-so. Waiting to be served too long. Waitresses courteous and efficient.
